Bug#821248: ITP: fgallery -- modern, minimalist javascript photo gallery

2016-04-16 Thread Andreas Tille
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andreas Tille

* Package name: fgallery
  Version : 1.8.1
  Upstream Author : "Yuri D’Elia"
* URL : https://www.thregr.org/~wavexx/software/fgallery/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : modern, minimalist javascript photo gallery
Fgallery is a static photo gallery generator with no frills that has a
stylish, minimalist look. Fgallery shows your photos, and nothing else.
 .
There is no server-side processing, only static generation. The
resulting gallery can be uploaded anywhere without additional
requirements and works with any modern browser.
 .
  * Automatically orients pictures without quality loss.
  * Multi-camera friendly: automatically sorts pictures by time: just
throw your (and your friends) photos and movies in a directory. The
resulting gallery shows the pictures in seamless shooting order.
  * Adapts to the current screen size and proportions, switching from
horizontal/vertical layout and scaling thumbnails automatically.
  * Supports face detection for improved thumbnail centering.
  * Loads fast! Especially over slow connections.
  * Includes original (raw) pictures in a zip file for downloading.
  * Panoramas can be seen full-size by default.

Remark: This package and the suggested package facedetect (just ITPed)
will be maintained in pkg-phototools team. Everybody who intends to
create modern web galleris is welcome to join the maintenance at

Description : simple face detector for batch processing
Facedetect is a simple face detector for batch processing. It answers
the basic question: "Is there a face in this image?" and gives back
either an exit code or the coordinates of each detected face in the
 standard output.
 .
The aim is to provide a basic command-line interface that's consistent
and easy to use with software such as ImageMagick, while progressively
improving the detection algorithm over time.
 .
facedetect is used in software such as fgallery to improve the thumbnail
cutting region, so that faces are always centered.

I mixed up the ITP bug numbers between ostree and xdg-app, so the bug

Bug#821210: Ready for review: firefox-branding-iceweasel

2016-04-16 Thread Gianfranco Costamagna
Hi, some general nitpicks.

You really should team-maintain it
https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=pkg-mozext-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org
should be the right place.

licenses in debian/copyright needs to be verbose, not links

you have to open an ITP bug, then upload on mentors.debian.org
and ask an RFS bug.

somebody from pkg-mozext might give you a review of the package after that :)

(ccing Sean, who is doing a great job on pkg-mozext :p )

thanks for the work!

I've had good results with “repacksuffix”, but your approach works fine too,
and you’re the maintainer!

The Uscan behaviour in the presence of “Files-Excluded” requires a
bunch of fiddling with the upstream-versus-Debian version string for
the resulting tarball. With a repack program, the version handling
just works properly.

OK, that's fine by me. I just have two comments on the repacked version on
Mentors:
* you could use "Files-Excluded" in debian/copyright instead of adding a
  repack script (have we had this discussion before?);
* since there is a way to make version 6.12 DFSG-free as provided upstream, it
would be nice to prepare an upgrade path — so I would prefer a ~dfsg
  version instead of +dfsg.

Stephen

Description : Go library that breaks up the input from an io.Reader into

go-linereader (Golang package: linereader) is a package for Go that breaks up
the input from an
io.Reader into multiple lines. It is a lot like bufio.Scanner, except you can
specify timeouts that
will push "lines" through after a certain amount of time. This lets you read
lines, but return any
data if a line isn't updated for some time.

This is a requirement for Terraform.

Thanks,
DS

Description : Preserves Iceweasel branding for new Firefox packages

Debian distributed a rebranded version of Firefox called Iceweasel. This was
due to legal concerns. In 2016 Debian and Mozilla developers agreed that
Debian can legally package Firefox without violating DFSG. Firefox is
back in
Debian and Iceweasel is now gone! However, some people want to continue
using
Iceweasel, and Iceweasel does have a historical value. So this rebranding
package was created to restore Iceweasel branding for Firefox. Most
files are
just copied from the original Iceweasel package.

This will be a native package. Mozilla Extension Packaging Team may be
relevant. I hope that this will be available when Iceweasel disappears from
stable.

I'd think the time has come to have pgfouine removed. We have pgbadger

Bug#807637: inform6lib/6.12: Non-source file ‘infglk.h’ with no corresponding source

I mis-parsed the text of those license conditions; it appeared to
explicitly deny redistribution of modified versions.

Reading it again today, I see that it subsequently grants all the
necessary permissions, conditional only on retaining an attribution
notice.

This works fine for software freedom; it seems ‘cheapglk’ is free
software under a non-standard license.

The ‘glk-dev’ code base is partly non-free (CC By-NC-SA-3.0), but
software freedom is explicitly granted in ‘dispatch_dump’, the
component needed for building ‘infglk.h’.

So there appears to be a path – work carefully to get those parts
packaged for Debian as build dependencies for ‘infglk.h’.

None the less, I would like the current “6.12+dfsg.1-1” release of
‘inform6-library’ in Debian, because it works fine without ‘infglk.h’
(that is provided only as a convenience) and is now free software.

The file is not needed for any of the advertised features of the
package; the library already contained support for producing Glk
output since before version 6.12. I have compiled some example Inform
6 source to Glulx story files without that file.

Between omitting the file because it lacks corresponding source, and
delaying to get the build dependencies for this convenience file, I
would rather do the former for now.

2016-04-16 Thread John Paul Adrian Glaubitz
Hi Sergio!

I'll have a look at ppsspp this weekend.

On a sidenote, I think you should reduce the number of packages that
you are working on a bit [1]. Having so many packages when you're
still new to packaging isn't really the best way of learning the
proper techniques.

I would advise focusing on a smaller number of packages first and
getting these into proper shape so that they get accepted into
Debian. Once you have gained enough experience, you can start
maintaining more.

Any progress on this? I'd be very happy to test this package after it has

As I understand it the license for cheapglk is the following:

The source code in this package is copyright 1998-2012 by Andrew Plotkin.
You may copy and distribute it freely, by any means and under any
conditions, as long as the code and documentation is not changed. You may
also incorporate this code into your own program and distribute that, or
modify this code and use and distribute the modified version, as long as you
retain a notice in your program or documentation which mentions my name and
 the URL shown above.

I'm not convinced this is non-free. The only troublesome clause I see is the
requirement to mention Zarf's name and the URL; but that isn't less free than
say the zlib license AFAICS... Am I missing something?

Stephen

It turns out that ‘glk-dev’ (needed to build the ‘infglk.h’ file)
itself has a non-free build dependency, ‘cheapglk’.

There is an open bug report now upstream to investigate this
, but for
now I think that quashes the idea of building the file with free
software.

The source package now needs to omit the non-source ‘infglk.h’ file. I
will create a new source package without that file.
