Bug#839121: ITP: python-typing -- Backport of the standard library typing module to Python versions older than 3.5

2016-09-28 Thread Sebastien Delafond
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Sebastien Delafond

* Package name: python-typing
  Version : 3.5.2
  Upstream Author : Guido van Rossum, Jukka Lehtosalo, Łukasz Langa
* URL : https://pypi.python.org/pypi/typing/3.5.2
* License : Python Software Foundation
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Backport of the standard library typing module to Python
versions older than 3.5

Typing defines a standard notation for Python function and variable type
annotations. The notation can be used for documenting code in a concise,
standard format, and it has been designed to also be used by static and
runtime type checkers, static analyzers, IDEs and other tools.

This is needed as a mitmproxy dependency.

the best way to find a sponsor is by forking the git repo somewhere else,
show your packaging skills by fixing bugs and refactoring the packaging
(or whatever is needed), and then ask to adopt it.

We can't blindly sponsor stuff just because of somebody is interested, an
unmaintained package is better than a badly maintained one :)

I can't see your name/surname/ddpo page, so I can assume you don't maintain
any debian stuff right now?

Two things are wrong with this package:

- wrong upstream, why not choose the original upstream maintaining 0.7.22
of the software ?
- wrong name, it should be libjs-xxx since this is a browser lib

  Programming Lang: OCaml
  Description : Build tool for building OCaml library and programs

OCamlbuild is a generic build tool, that has built-in rules for building OCaml
library and programs.

It was distributed as part of the OCaml distribution for OCaml versions between
3.10.0 and 4.02.3. Starting from OCaml 4.03, it is now released separately.

Its job is to determine the sequence of calls to the compiler — with the right
set of command-line flags — needed to build your OCaml-centric software
project.

It was designed as a generic build system (it is in fact not OCaml-specific),
but also to be expressive enough to cover the specifics of the OCaml language
that make writing good Makefiles difficult, such as the dreaded units Foo and
Bar make inconsistent assumptions about Baz error.

  Description : generate pronouncable, perhaps even memorable, pet names

 This utility will generate "pet names", consisting of a random
 combination of an adverb, adjective, and proper name. These are
 useful for unique hostnames, for instance.
 The default packaging contains about 2000 names, 1300 adjectives,
 and 4000 adverbs, yielding nearly 10 billion unique combinations,
 covering over 32 bits of unique namespace.
 As such, PetName tries to follow the tenets of Zooko's triangle:
 names are human meaningful, decentralized, and secure.

This package is a dependency of LXD, which we are hoping to get into
Debian soon, via the pkg-lxc team. I intend to package this as part
of the pkg-go team.

Bug#768073: LXC team take over ITP?

2016-09-28 Thread Jonathan Dowland
Hi folks, thanks for the useful replies!

I've sent requests to join pkg-lxc and pkg-go, and set up a scratch/todo page
on wiki.d.o at https://wiki.debian.org/LXD that we could use to coordinate work
needed.

Now to take a look at those Go packages...

Bug#839053: ITP: android-platform-system-tools-aidl -- Bindings generator of AIDL interfaces

2016-09-28 Thread 殷啟聰
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: android-platform-system-tools-aidl
  Version : 1:7.0.0+r1
* Upstream Author : The Android Open Source Project
* License : Apache-2.0
* Programming lang: C++
* Description : Bindings generator of AIDL interfaces
* URL : https://android.googlesource.com/platform/system/tools/aidl
* Alioth  :
https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/android-tools/android-platform-system-tools-aidl.git

`aidl` is now a separated project since Android 7.0.0, therefor we are
introducing a new source package for it. Previously it is part of
src:android-platform-frameworks-base.

This package builds the following binary packages:

  * aidl: Contains `aidl` and `aidl-cpp` which generates Java and C++
bindings of AIDL interfaces respectively.
