2020-04-07 Thread Scott Kitterman
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: python3-sphinx-better-theme
  Version : 0.1.5
  Upstream Author : Steve Johnson
* URL : https://pypi.org/project/sphinx-better-theme
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : modified version of the default Sphinx theme

This theme is now used by psycopg2 for its documentation, so it would be
nice to see it in Debian so we could use it (instead of patching to use
the default Sphinx Theme.

 sphinx-better-theme is an update to the default Sphinx theme with the
 following goals:
 .
  - Remove frivolous colors, especially hard-coded ones
  - Improve readability by limiting width and using more whitespace
  - Encourage visual customization through CSS, not themeconf
Use semantic markup

 In order to smoothly animate the transformation of polygons and
 paths, many aspects needs to be taken into account, such as differing number
 of control points, changing center of rotation, etc. The 'transformr'
 package provides an extensive framework for manipulating the shapes of
 polygons and paths and can be seen as the spatial brother to the 'tweenr'
 package.

Bug#956153: ITP: fierce -- Domain DNS scanner

2020-04-07 Thread Marcos Fouces
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Marcos Fouces

* Package name: fierce
  Version : 1.4.0
  Upstream Author : Mschwager
* URL : https://github.com/mschwager/fierce
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Domain DNS scanner

 Fierce is a semi-lightweight scanner that helps locate non-contiguous
 IP space and hostnames against specified domains. It's really meant as
 a pre-cursor to nmap, unicornscan, nessus, nikto, etc, since all of
 those require that you already know what IP space you are looking for.
 This does not perform exploitation and does not scan the whole internet
 indiscriminately. It is meant specifically to locate likely targets both
 inside and outside a corporate network.
 Because it uses DNS primarily you will often find mis-configured networks
 that leak internal address space. That's especially useful in targeted
malware.
 Originally written by RSnake along with others at http://ha.ckers.org/.
 This is simply a conversion to Python 3 to simplify and modernize the
codebase.

Bug#956123: ITP: kas -- Setup tool for bitbake based projects

  Description : Setup tool for bitbake based projects

This tool provides an easy mechanism to setup bitbake based projects.

The OpenEmbedded tooling support starts at step 2 with bitbake. The
downloading of sources and then configuration has to be done by hand.
Usually, this is explained in a README. Instead kas uses a project
configuration file and makes use of it in download and configuration phases.

Key features provided by the build tool:

* clone and checkout bitbake layers
* create default bitbake settings (machine, arch, ...)
* launch minimal build environment, reducing risk of host contamination
* initiate bitbake build process

Bug#740601: Please support COVID-19 BioHackathon and choose a free license for parts of your code to build blat

2020-04-07 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi Kent,

I've just opened

   https://github.com/ucscGenomeBrowser/kent/issues/32

Since we had also some past mail exchange which went also to our mailing
list I'm copying the content here:

Hi,

we had some past discussion about the licensing of the complete code of
this repository. I've understood that you did not consider this.
However, parts of the libraries are featuring an MIT license and I would
like you to consider to change the license of only those parts that
might enable us to package blat for Debian. Debian is currently joing
the COVID-19 Biohackathon and when doing so we intend to package
everything that could contribute to fight this disease. We would greatly
appreciate your contribution to this fight. I have extracted the
following code parts as beeing necessary to successfully build blat
under Debian:

src/blat/*
src/jkOwnLib/*

The other directories that are needed for building are MIT licensed.
Once you are at it for other projects we could also use

src/isPcr/*

While this is of lower importance as blat it would be great to choose
MIT or whatever free license you might decide for.

I would really appreciate your decision to change the license of this
part of your code and the Debian community would be thankful for this
contribution.

Kind regards
Andreas.

* License : SIP or GPL-2 or GPL-3
  Programming Lang: C, C++, Python
  Description : SIP run-time module for use in PyQt5 and other projects

Since SIP v5, upstream source consists of two parts:

- The build system, which is already packaged as python3-sipbuild.
- The runtime module, which the extensions built with SIP depend on.

Upstream allows every project to use their own copy of SIP runtime.
All projects from Riverbank Computing Ltd use a module named PyQt5.sip,
and we will recommend packages of other projects to change them to use
PyQt5.sip too.

Technically, both sipbuild and the runtime module are maintained in a
single upstream repository, but the build system is designed in a way
that PyQt5.sip should be built from a separate tarball.

I will maintain it under the umbrella of Debian Python Modules Team.

See my namespace on salsa [1], please move it to a more appropriate
