The fonts are modifications of TeX fonts (known as BaKoMa fonts) but a name is changed, for example, as jsMath-cmr10 instead of cmr10 and encodings are also changed from the original so ttf-jsmath is not a duplication of existing TeX fonts. I'm afraid a version number is not available so I took 0.01 temporary. I've sent an email to the upstream author about the license because I couldn't find any statement in the home page so I filled the above "License" with that of the original BaKoMa fonts at present. Even in the latest teTeX 2.0.2, there are settings in texmf.cnf
as follows;
TEXINPUTS.latex = .;$TEXMF/tex/{latex,generic,}//
TEXINPUTS.latex209 = .;$TEXMF/tex/{latex209,generic,latex,}//
that is, there is basically no problem to provide latex209
macros under $TEXMF/tex/latex209 if the command was called
"latex209".

Its latex is based on latex209 and some users who have used TeX from long time ago have many files which can not be processed with the latest ptex-bin (based on LaTeX2e). Furthermore, it is much faster than the latest ptex-bin so some users prefer to use this instead of ptex-bin, especially users on a slow machine. They are not included in standard distribution of pTeX but they produce nicer output than the standard TFM files, especially with japanese style comma and period, or braces etc. It is completely free and you may distribute, modify, distribute modified version and use for commercial purpose etc. It contains only short documents in japanese but I contacted the author and got the above answer already. Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist I ITP'ed ptex-jisfonts which provides refined TFM files for japanese pTeX and this okumura-clsfiles will provide jsarticle.cls which uses jisfonts as default japanese fonts. So, for users of jisfonts, this will provide very comfortable environment but, furhtermore, this will produce a bit different (and nicer) output than a standard jarticle.cls will do. This is based on jarticle of pTeX so the license is the same as that of ptex-base, that is, this should be non-free. It is not allowed to use for commercial use, for example... But the author said he did not want to restrict any more than the original one so if the original ptex-base becomes free then this will also become free, I hope. This package provides VF/TFM files to use these five basic morisawa fonts in TeX and printer drivers. It contains few TFM files which come from ptex-base and ptex-base is not in main so, unfortunately, this is also in non-free (it forbids commercial use, for example. But other files are free.) As you know, a TeX source for XeTeX is system dependent so one can't compile sample files for MacOSX under Debian. You can get it from http://www1.pm.tokushima-u.ac.jp/~kohda/tex/xetex/sample_linux.tar.gz (CJK, Arabic, Hindi, Ethiopic documents etc.) You need to install many ttf-* fonts packages and each file includes comment what ttf-* is/are necessary for itself. I splitted the original xdvipdfmx into xdvipdfmx (almost binary only) and xdvipdfmx-data (CMaps and config files) temporarily and (my) xdvipdfmx depends on dvipdfmx | xdvipdfmx-data so one can test two environment, xdvipdfmx + dvipdfmx (your suggestion) and xdvipdfmx + xdvipdfmx-data (=the original xdvipdfmx). At present, we have latex-xft-fonts, xfonts-mathml, ttf-mathematica4.1 for MathML but with iceweasel (>=3.0), they don't have any good (nor bad?) effects on rendering of MathML as far as I know. So, in the first place, I think it is wrong or meaningless that iceweasel suggests these fonts. With stix beta fonts, iceweasel (>=3.0) seems to display MathML well to some extent. But an upstream document says they are yet only a subset of future release version. Further and unfortunately, it is too late to ship stix fonts in lenny. So, in short, iceweasel couldn't support MathML in lenny. Anyway, I already packaged stix beta fonts and will soon upload it to experimental. If I misunderstand anything or some of you know much more information, please let me know.
