Bug#794429: RFA: rspamd
Hi Mikhail, If this is still all right with you, I am interested to bring rspamd to the latest upstream release with non-native packaging. So far, rspamd seems to satisfy my use case in replacement of a dead and buggy dspam, so I am willing to pitch in. Regards, -- .''`. It is indeed dead upstream. I even refrained to upload the latest snapshot (with notices support), because it appeared as a reverse-dependency of rails, and I never had a use case for it with rails. I used libdbi-ruby1.8 with rails. I adopted it back then, because I used it for personal admin scripts. There is also libdbd-pg-ruby1.8 as reverse-dependency. I would go for a total replacement, as this fork is what seems to be used nowadays. Since I do not have the time to investigate, this is why I said that you can do whatever it takes to move on, so feel free to add you as co-maintainer. Cheers, -- .''`. Bug#453732: ITP: usb-modeswitch -- mode switching tool for controlling "flip flop" (multiple device) USB gear
I was told that the upstream description (which I pasted untouched) was not much descriptive and objective. I tend to agree, so I am writing a new one... * Package name: usb-modeswitch Version : 0.9.2 Upstream Author : Josua Dietze <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/ Licence : GPLv2 or later Programming Lang: C Description : mode switching tool for controlling "flip flop" USB devices Several new USB devices have their proprietary Windows drivers onboard, especially WAN dongles. When plugged in for the first time, they act like a flash storage and start installing the driver from there. If the driver is already installed, the storage device vanishes and a new device, such as an USB modem, shows up. This is called the "ZeroCD" feature. On Debian, this is not needed, since the driver is included as a Linux kernel module, such as "usbserial". However, the device still shows up as "usb-storage" by default. usb-modeswitch solves that issue by sending the command which actually performs the switching of the device from "usb-storage" to "usbserial". Bug#453732: ITP: usb-modeswitch -- mode switching tool for controlling "flip flop" (multiple device) USB gear
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Aurélien GÉRÔME <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * Package name: usb-modeswitch Version : 0.9.2 Upstream Author : Josua Dietze <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> * URL : http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/ Licence : GPLv2 or later Programming Lang: C Description : mode switching tool for controlling "flip flop" (multiple device) USB gear Several new USB devices (especially high-speed WAN stuff, they're expensive anyway) have their MS Windows drivers onboard; when plugged in for the first time they act like a flash storage and start installing the driver from there. After that (and on every consecutive plugging) this driver switches the mode internally, the storage device vanishes (in most cases), and a new device (like an USB modem) shows up. Some call that feature "ZeroCD". Of course, nothing of this is documented in any form and there is hardly any Linux driver available. On the good side, most of the known devices work out of the box with the available Linux modules like "usb-storage" or "usbserial". That leaves the problem of the mode switching from storage to whatever the thing is supposed to do. Fortunately there are things like human intelligence, USB sniffing programs and "libusb". It is possible to eavesdrop the communication of the MS Windows driver, to isolate the command or action that does the switching, and to reproduce the same thing with Linux. USB_ModeSwitch makes the last step relatively easy by taking the important parameters from a configuration file and doing all the initialization and communication stuff. It does NOT check for success afterwards as of now. The right approach would be to consult /proc/bus/usb/devices (or the output of "lsusb") before and after execution to note any changes. Further documentation for each of the utilities is available from their respective man pages and doxygen design documents. * activate_firmware - concurrent firmware activation Used during concurrent firmware update operations to activate the new firmware image locally. This utility is invoked automatically when necessary. * hvcsadmin - HVCS driver administration utility This is the hvcs driver administration utility which simplifies hvcs administration by providing a set of options for such functions as closing adapter targets using device mapping, querying console adapters, querying adapters based upon device node, gathering status, and closing all open adapters. * ibmvscsis.sh - IBMVSCSIS driver init script When symlinked into start and stop run levels this script can provide vscsi server operation automation. It supports the standard array of init script options {start|stop|status|restart}. By design this script executes operations in silent mode. For extended vscsi server operations the vscsisadmin script should be used instead. * rtas_dump - dump the contents of a rtas event A small script to front end rtas_event_decode. Just because pulling rtas events out of files is easier in a script. * rtas_event_decode - dump the contents of a rtas event This is the back-end tool used by rtas_dump to actually parse out and print rtas events. * rtas_ibm_get_vpd Used by the lsvpd utility to gather Vital Product Data that changes dynamically. * serv_config/uspchrp - configure service processor settings A series of menus that can be used to update system service settings stored in NVRAM, which are used by the system's service processor. These settings include surveillance, boot, and remote maintenance policies. This utility is only usable on systems equipped with a service processor. * set_poweron_time - configure time for system power-on A utility to set a time in the future for the system to automatically power on, if the system is powered off at that time. * uesensor A utility to view the state of environental sensors on powerpc machines. * update_flash - system firmware update utility A script that uses the rtas_flash kernel module to flash firmware. * usysattn, usysfault - attention indicator utility A utility to view the status of the system attention (fault) indicators (LEDs), and to turn the indicators off when after an event has been serviced. * usysident - identification indicator utility A utility to view the status of device identification indicators (LEDs), and to turn the indicators on and off. * vscsisadmin - IBM Virtual SCSI Server (ibmvscsis) administration utilities This is the virtual scsi server administration utility which simplifies configuration, starting, and stopping of an IBM virtual SCSI server. This script can be run standalone or it can be invoked via the ibmvscsis.sh init script. Sven, as we discussed it on IRC, I submitted the debootloaders project on Alioth. It is waiting for approval. As soon as it gets it, we will file an ITP against yaboot and start maintaining it as a team. Of course, anyone will be welcomed to join. ;) Cheers, -- ((__,-"""-,__)) Aurélien GÉRÔME .---. `--)~ ~(--` Free Software Developer / \ .-'( )`-.
