Bug#319463: RFA: eli -- compiler construction kit
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I don't use this program anymore and want to concentrate on other Debian work, so offering it for adoption. The package eli-doc should be adopted together with this one. Given the low popcon stats for this package I will ask for its removal in a few months if nobody wants it. Bug#319711: RFH: gtkpod -- manage songs and playlists on an Apple iPod
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I'm searching a co-maintainer for this package since it has very frequent upstream releases and people are eager to get them as quick as possible (especially when Apple released a new firmware version...), so I think it would be feasible to have someone I can share the load with. Introducing RFH and OTH?
Hi. Several months ago it was proposed (from the RM IIRC) to introduce new WNPP tags: RFH (request for help) and ITH/OTH (offer to help) I myself have to take a part of the blame that the discussion died out since I proposed to technically implement this but it was first impossible due to the compromise and then forgotten. After having given the WNPP code a little face lifting I now remembered my old offer and quickly hacked it together (patch for the WNPP code attached, missing documentation, other parts of Debian's QA infrastructure like the PTS should probably be patched, too). For those who would like to see how this will look: http://higgs.djpig.de/debian-www/devel/wnpp/ And there the links to http://higgs.djpig.de/debian-www/devel/wnpp/help http://higgs.djpig.de/debian-www/devel/wnpp/help_requested http://higgs.djpig.de/debian-www/devel/wnpp/help_offered Now, before I complete and commit this and finally announce the availability of it I wanted to ask for comments again to see if this "feature" is still wanted and deemed useful. Bug#262773: ITA: modconf -- Device Driver Configuration
Subject: ITA: modconf -- Device Driver Configuration Package: wnpp Severity: normal I intend to adopt the modconf package. Currently debian-boot is listed as maintainer, but as modconf isn't part of the d-i but only was one of the boot-floppies the interest is low to maintain it this way as one could see in the last months. I haved asked on debian-boot a few days ago and there was only one response by Joey Hess stating that he doesn't object to changing the maintainer away from debian-boot. Other people interesting in this package as well are welcome to help me with developing it further. I plan to move it from cvs.d.o to a separate Alioth project if there aren't any objections to that. If you want, you can tag your ITP "help" (and note it in your ITP that more people to work on it are welcome) but the RFH tag is intended for packages that are already there and need help, like a "weaker" version of RFA. There is already a tag for new packages and it's ITP. Everyone interested in the package will check the ITP anyway. But there wasn't a tag yet where a maintainer could state his need of help without stating that he wants to give package away, too. (The original idea proposed by ajt was to redefine the RFA tag but I think it is better this way) Gruesse, -- Frank Lichtenheld <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> www: http://www.djpig.de/
Bug#270558: RFA: pbbuttonsd -- PBButtons daemon to handle special hotkeys of Apple computers
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I took over the pbbuttonsd package this year because it wasn't in a releasable state and I cared about it. It should be in a reasonable good shape for Sarge now. I have to admit however that I do not care enough about it to give it the work it needs. This isn't because it was bad software, it isn't or because it was dead upstream (he answers often quicker to Debian bug reports than I) but because the powermanagment is still a moving target and the package is still in a state where design aspects can change very quickly. (Additionaly I have many Debian duties that I rank higher than this package and I have to reduce my workload a bit) So if someone would be interested in the package I would glad to hand it over. I can offer sponsorship or co-maintainance, too. The gtkpbbuttons and powerprefs packages are merely front-ends to pbbuttonsd and all three packages should be maintained by the same maintainer. The latter one are very easy to handle, though, only pbbuttonsd needs special attention because of the system integration. Description: PBButtons daemon to handle special hotkeys of Apple computers PBButtons is a program suite to handle the special hotkeys of an Apple iBook, Powerbook or TiBook. With this programs the keys for the display brightness, the volume of speaker and headphone, the mute key and the eject key will do their job as expected. Bug#614131: O: doc-linux -- Linux HOWTOs und FAQs
Package: wnpp Severity: normal None of the maintainers seem to be interested in this package anymore (including me). There is an Alioth project pkg-doc-linux which can be used. The problem with this package is that it really needs to be completely redone. It should include the actual source for the documents and build the formats from this. Last time I checked the means to do so were not readily available from upstream, but this must have been over two years ago, so a lot might have changed. 'hello world'->length (-1234)->abs "oh my god, it's full of properties"->index('g') . The first example asks a string to calculate its length. The second example asks a number to calculate its absolute value. And the third example asks a string to find the index of the letter 'g'. . Using this module you can have run-time properties on initialized scalar variables and literal values. The word 'properties' is used in the Perl 6 sense: out-of-band data, little sticky notes that are attached to the value. While attributes (as in Perl 5's attribute pragma, and see the Attribute::* family of modules) are handled at compile-time, properties are handled at run-time. Bug#496264: cuneiform_0.5+dfsg-1_i386.changes REJECTED
Hi. Lets not further leave this package in limbo. The current situation is as follows: 1) REJECT for missing copyright holders in debian/copyright. That should be easily fixable. 2) It would be interesting to know where those .dat files come from and whether there exists some kind of source for them. In the package itself I could not find any information about that. 3) The issue with the libraries. Their names are really too generic and they really aren't packaged as proper shared libraries, so you can't put them into /usr/lib. And I still don't see how this could cause any unsurmountable issues in other packages. If you insist that this problem can't be fixed quickly and provide a more elaborate explanation than "other packages want to depend on it" I would be willing to allow this package into the archive anyway (preferably into experimental), as long there is a RC bug documenting the issue. Hope this helps to move the issue forward. Bug#523093: undetermined copyright/license violation
On Fri, Apr 10, 2009 at 11:40:02PM +0200, Robert Millan wrote: > On Fri, Apr 10, 2009 at 10:19:38PM +0200, Robert Millan wrote: > > I'm > > going to upload the package in its current state: > > > > - When old file has no copyright/license information, only the new > > copyright/license header added by Hubert is present. After having a look at the issue I saw that those file actually have a reference to the AUTHORS file, which seems to be the place in TomBoy where the copyright for all those files is declared. I personally would guess probably fulfills the letter of law and license (but it is really only a guess at this point). I'm a bit unsure though why it was chosen to refer to the AUTHORS file instead of just including the copyright statement in the file right next to the new one, which would probably have avoided this whole discussion. So pending a thorough review and without having seen the debian/copyright file, I currently see no reason not to allow this in Debian. I don't think that it contains any blatant lies about the copyright status of the work, even though I have the feeling it tries to avoid giving credit to the original authors any more than necessary. But that is a social issue and not a legal one.
