Bug#855641: O: signify-openbsd-keys -- Public keys for use with signify-openbsd
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I'm orphaning all of my packages in Debian because I have decided to move onto other endevours and I don't think that I will have the time to give my packages the attention they deserve. It's been great being part of Debian and I remain an enthusiastic user. The description reads: This package contains some commmon public keys which can be used to verify software with signify-openbsd. At present, all of the OpenBSD keys from version 5.5 onwards are included.

Package: wnpp Severity: normal I'm orphaning all of my packages in Debian because I have decided to move onto other endevours and I don't think that I will have the time to give my packages the attention they deserve. It's been great being part of Debian and I still remain an enthusiastic user. That is, you write a program that when run generates the slides for your presentation, currently in HTML.
Bug#855639: O: signify-openbsd -- Lightweight cryptographic signing and verifying tool
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I'm orphaning all of my packages in Debian because I have decided to move onto other endevours and I don't think that I will have the time to give my packages the attention they deserve. It's been great being part of Debian and I remain an enthusiastic user. The description reads: Similar to GNU Privacy Guard (GPG), signify is the tool which OpenBSD uses to cryptographically sign its releases, so that you can be sure that you are actually getting a release made by OpenBSD, as opposed to a malicious forgery designed to look the same. Signify's usage is not limited to OpenBSD's releases, however - it can be used to sign anything. So that it will work on Linux, the version of signify provided in this package is not exactly the same as the version provided in OpenBSD's CVS tree. Please note that OpenBSD's public keys are not included with this package; you will have to find your own version in order to verify their releases.

It's been great being part of Debian and I remain an enthusiastic user. The description reads: python-zxcvbn contains the function password_strength(), which when used is able to determine the estimated time it would take to crack a password. Using those results, a strength score can be calculated. In determining these results, python-zxcvbn makes use of common passwords, common American names and surnames, common English words, and common patterns like dates, repeats (aaa), sequences (abcd), and QWERTY patterns. python-zxcvbn is a Python 2 port of the coffeescript zxcvbn, which is used on the website of Dropbox.

The reason that I was packaging this is that it was used by the new version of signify-openbsd, a package which I maintain. It is possible to build this version of signify-openbsd without libwaive, but then the implementation of pledge() simply does nothing. What would you recommend that I do? I'm thinking that I should build signify-openbsd without libwaive, because that way there are no false expectations of security. Bug#764443: ITP: streql -- Constant-time string comparison
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Riley * Package name: streql Version : 3.0.2 Upstream Author : Peter Scott * URL : https://github.com/PeterScott/streql * License : Apache 2.0 Programming Lang: Python 2, Python 3, PyPy, C Description : Constant-time string comparison This module contains a function `equals(x,y)`, a function which determines the equality or inequality of strings. The time taken for the function to be evaluated is dependent only on the length of the strings, not their content. This helps to protect against "timing side-channel attacks". -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#731975: Changing to RFP
I'm sorry for having kept this as ITP for so long, but I've just decided that I no longer wish to package pybitmessage for Debian. Feel free to pick up the work. Before you do, though, here are some things to consider: -PyBitmessage provides convenience copies of libraries. However, these cannot be just removed, as there are many local modifications without which PyBitmessage will not work. They cannot be kept there either, as Debian policy does not allow shipping convenience copies. I've tried submitting the PyBitmessage changes to the libraries upstream, although this is painfully slow. -PyBitmessage supports Namecoin addresses, but Namecoin is not yet in Debian. To fix this, you will either have to package Namecoin yourself, or make a note in the interface explaining that Namecoin is not in Debian, but it is possible to compile your own Namecoin from source. -All of the licensing issues have been sorted out, and I've compiled a list of licenses in this issue: https://github.com/Bitmessage/PyBitmessage/issues/669 . However, I wrote that list a while ago, and the licenses may have changed by now. -Upstream ships a Debian directory, and keeps VCS information in their release tarballs. You can get around this by using the command 'make sourcedeb', which generates a .orig.tar.gz without the Debian directory or the VCS information included. Good luck, future maintainer! Hopefully, we'll have PyBitmessage in Debian someday. Riley Baird -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#754287: (no subject)
Yes, you can keep your releases on the GitHub branch. However, it would be advisable to remove the /debian directory from your github repository. Even though you may be maintaining both upstream and with Debian, this may change in the future, and it causes problems if upstream and Debian have different /debian directories. (Also, it becomes more difficult to generate the .orig.tar.gz ) *You mentioned that you were using debhelper 9, so you should change d/compat to 9. (This will also fix the "missing-dependency-on-python-support" lintian tag.) *The full text of CC-0 formatted for d/copyright can be found here [1] *python-setuptools is required to build, but build-depends lists python3-setuptools. It appears that this is because some parts of the d/rules are using python2.7 by default. I've managed to build it without python-setuptools by making the following modifications: -In line 10, replace "python setup.py" with "python3 setup.py" -Add a line "override_dh_auto_configure:" *You include several lib/ entries in the copyright file, but you do not distribute them. It is good that you do not distribute them (because modules should be packaged separately), but these should be removed from the d/copyright. *I couldn't find packages for the tzlocal and Delorean modules. These will have to be packaged first, then added as dependencies. The Python Modules Team [2] should be able to help you with this. *I think that you've got the license GNU right, but I'm not sure. Read over this IRC log [4] and note that the icon was originally from here [5] and then make a decision for yourself. After this, I can't really see any more problems. Once you've made the above corrections, you could perhaps try finding a sponsor with the Python Applications Packaging Team. [3] Good luck in finding a sponsor! Bug#754287: Issues with package
I'm not a DD, so I can't sponsor your package, but here are some thoughts. General: -You need to write a manpage -Add a watch file -Is tz-converter really a native package? -Add a homepage field -Stop depending on the python-support package; use dh_python2 d/changelog: -Add the phrase "Initial release (closes: #754287)". -Don't use the Ubuntu name "trusty". Continue to use Debian's "unstable" d/control: -Fix up the spacing on line 11 -Add a version for the build-depends of debhelper (it appears that you are using version 7, so you'd use "debhelper (>= 7)" d/copyright: -You say that the license for your files is GPL-3+. Looking at the github source, I can't find any indication that this is the case. Perhaps you could add a notice and a copy of the license in the root directory/as headers on your source files? -You have not given the full text of CC-0. -You list icons/Saki-NuoveXT-Apps-world-clock.ico as having the license "GNU", but you do not give the text of the license. d/patches: -This is not necessary since you do not have any patches Good luck on getting your package into Debian! As the title states, the maintainer of pyelliptic has agreed to change to add OpenSSL exception to the library. He hasn't done it yet, but he's confirmed that he will.
