Bug#539609: RFA: file-rc -- Alternative boot mechanism using a single configuration file

2009-08-02 Thread Roland Rosenfeld
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the file-rc package.

The package description is:
This package provides an alternative mechanism to boot the system, to
shut it down and to change runlevels. The /etc/rc?.d/* links will be
converted into one single configuration file /etc/runlevel.conf
instead, which is easier to administrate than symlinks, and is also
 more flexible.
 .
The package will automatically convert your existing symlinks into
the file method on installation, and convert the file back into
symlinks on removal. Both mechanisms are compatible through
 /etc/init.d/rc, /etc/init.d/rcS, /usr/sbin/update-rc.d, and
 /usr/sbin/invoke-rc.d scripts.

At the moment this package requires some action because it is required
to implement insserv functionality here, see Bug#539591.
At the moment I personally won't find the time to dig deep enough into
insserv to code this.

So I request for an adopter of this package.

Bug#435116: RFA: pkspxy -- PGP Public Key Server Proxy Daemon

2007-07-29 Thread Roland Rosenfeld
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the pkspxy package.

The package description is:
This package implements a caching proxy to be used between any
program which speaks the HKP protocol for PGP public key exchange,
and any HKP-capable key server (this will probably be pks).

I personally do no longer use this package, because I have a fixed
Internet connection for some years now, so I do not need a caching
proxy. Anyway, according to popcon there is a hand full of active
users of this package, so I do not want to remove the package from the
distribution.

The package does not have any open bug reports and I just uploaded
version 0.5-9 which solves all lintian warnings that arrived since the
last (2 year old) release 0.5-8.

Bug#138873: RFA: isdnbutton -- Start and Stop ISDN connections and display status

2002-03-18 Thread Roland Rosenfeld
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I will switch over from ISDN to ADSL soon, so I won't need isdnbutton
any more and so it doesn't make much sense to maintain this package
any longer without using it myself.

Except this there's bug #138559 which mentions a problem with this
package on woody which seems to be somewhere in the X11 internals,
which I cannot fix because my X11 knowledge is very limited and the
upstream maintainer cannot help, because he doesn't use or work on
isdnbutton himself.

So a new maintainer for this package is needed asap.

Description : Privacy enhancing HTTP Proxy

Privoxy is an instrumentable HTTP proxy that filters the HTTP data

Privoxy is a derivate of junkbuster, but it uses a different name

Bug#678092: RFA: emil -- Conversion Filter for Internet Messages

2012-06-18 Thread Roland Rosenfeld
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the emil package.

The package description is:
Emil v2 is a filter for converting Internet Messages. It supports
three basic formats: MIME, SUN Mailtool and plain old style RFC822.
It can be used with sendmail, as a mailer, or as a prefilter or
backend program with a mail client program, or as a plain filter.

I stopped using this tool myself some years ago since SUN Mailtool is
no longer used and so my primary usage for this tool (converting mails
from SUN Mailtool format to MIME) no longer exists.

If someone wants to adopt this package please stand up!

Otherwise we should remove the package from archive.

In the meantime I adapted the patches in different agrep sources to
the glimpse package, which already contained the agrep binary.
Alexander Zangerl merged these patches into his official glimpse
package and added "Provides: agrep" to the package.

In parallel I changed ding, the only package, which reverse depended
on agrep (via Suggests), to "Recommends: glimpse" instead of
"Suggests: agrep".

So from my point of view, it would the easiest way to simply remove
agrep from the archive in sid and bullseye, since it is no longer
needed.

I intent to adopt the agrep package.

As a first step I intent do merge all existing sources (alioth GIT
including some unpublished changes by Jari Alto) and move to salsa.

After this an update to 4.18.6 from the webglimpse is planned.

Also the move from non-free to main based on the ISC license (see
#827902).

And as a further option I think about moving from the glimpse version
to the https://github.com/Wikinaut/agrep fork (using a different
version numbering scheme, currently at 3.41.5/TG), but I'm not fully
sure, weather this is the optimal way, since both versions are far
away from each other and I do not yet understand which one is the
better one.

At least privoxy is actively maintained upstream as well as in Debian
and still uses docbook-dsssl to build the documentation (the Debian
package could use the pre build documentation shipped by upstream, but
in my eyes this isn't what "build from source" really means, so I
rebuild the documentation on every build). The built documentation is
then made available as HTML and referenced from the program itself
(pointing to countless paragraphs/anchors), so it may not be trivial
to change this to a different tool chain, which may generate different
anchors in the HTML code.

Same for me.

I request an adopter for the post-faq package.

The package description is:

The purpose of this package is to handle the posting of periodic

For this it adds appropriate Message-ID, Expires, Supersedes, and

one installation and no vote, I tend do remove this package from the

Before I do so, I give you the chance to take it over, if you think
that someone needs it.

DBD::Multi is intended for read-only operations (where some other
