Hi,

please ask upstream to add all licenses of embedded stuff like
./sources/plugins/shared/hidapi

Could you expand on this request? Each file notes "At the discretion of the
user of this library, this software may be licensed under the terms of the
GNU General Public License v3, a BSD-Style license, ..."

yes, but the sentence goes on: "..., or the original HIDAPI license as
outlined in the LICENSE.txt,

LICENSE-gpl3.txt, LICENSE-bsd.txt, and LICENSE-orig.txt"

The GPL is ok, but the BSD-Style license is not at all unambiguous and
what is the contents of LICENSE.txt and LICENSE-orig.txt?
They should be "located at the root of the source distribution.", but
they are not, hence my request.

   The debian/copyright
specifies GPL-3:

 Files: sources/plugins/shared/hidapi/*
 Copyright: 2022, 2023 libusb/hidapi Team
 License: GPL-3

Yes but this is just a part of the license, at least the "... or BSD-3"
is missing. According to Debian policy 12.5 a "verbatim copy of its
distribution license(s)" need to appear in your debian/copyright.

Sorry, that is a clear miss on my part. I will clarify the license or remove
these before re-uploading.

Ok, great, thanks a lot.

It is only that long in NEW because nobody cared to answer my question

It would be great if someone on the FTP team could either accept the

I am not going to ACCEPT a package with that name, but maybe someone else

The term "package" in CRAN terminology is usually what we have as a

is r-cran-roxygen2.

aaah, ok , I did find this.

Anyway, upstream has different ideas about the copyright holder in
googlesheets4-package.Rd and LICENSE.
There seems to be room for improvement.

On what string is your statement based? The copyright holder of the
automatically generated file should be the same as the source, shouldn't
it.

Yes, it is not the copyright of that file but its contents.

googlesheets4-package.Rd  says: "\item RStudio [copyright holder, funder]"
LICENSE says:  COPYRIGHT HOLDER: Jennifer Bryan and RStudio

So I would say that Jennifer Bryan is paid by RStudio for the work on
r-cran-googlesheets4, but RStudio is the only copyright holder.

For the moment I've added a separate

Files: man/googlesheets4-package.Rd

paragraph even if I do not see any actual reason for it.

Neither do I, sorry.

need to pin the minor version of version 3 code for the CRAN packages.

there is a reason why those older versions should not be part of Debian

They are no longer supported by upstream and do not get any security fixes.

After second thought about it these code copies are on one hand not

Please add a comment if you think that the assumption is wrong.

I have a general question: Wouldn't it be a good idea to keep the WNPP

I don't think so. The maintainer gets an email about the reject, the

Description : deploy programmable overlay networks

The OpenOverlayRouter (OOR) project aims to deliver a flexible and modular
open-source implementation to deploy programmable overlay networks. It
leverages on encapsulating overlay-specific packets into underlay-compatible
packets at the edges of the instantiated overlay and route them over the
physical underlying infrastructure. In order to do so, it maps overlay
identifiers to underlay locators and keeps those mappings updated over
time. In the current version, OOR uses the LISP protocol for the
control-plane (e.g. mapping retrieval and updating, etc), NETCONF/YANG for
the management-plane (e.g. overlay identifiers provisioning, etc) and can
use both LISP and VXLAN-GPE headers for encapsulation.

Bug#791965: ITP: openzwave -- API to use a Z-Wave controller

2015-10-31 Thread Thorsten Alteholz

Hi Lucas,

On Sat, 31 Oct 2015, Lucas Nussbaum wrote:

Have you made progress on this?

I uploaded the package and got a reject from paultag. In his eyes a
license was non-free. I don't agree with him, but I didn't start a
discussion as I also got information from the ZWave alliance. One argument
to sell ZWave products is their certification and such everything works
together with everything else. As openzwave does not really comply with
their specification and even does not support every part of ZWave (e.g.
the security stuff seems to be missing), the Alliance would be very
critical of openzwave. If there will be complaints of users, I guess they
will enforce their trademark.

So basically I stopped working on the package.

Description : create a directed graph of processes and pipes

pipexec creates an arbitrary network (directed graph) of processes and
pipes in between - even cycles are possible.
It overcomes the short comings of shells that are typically only able
 to create non cyclic trees.
 .
pipexec also monitors all it's child processes and is able to restart
the whole network of processes and pipes if one crashes.
Therefore pipexec can be used in SYSV-init or systemd configuration to
 run a network of processes.
 .
The package also contains two tools 'ptee' and 'peet' which are the piped
version of the 'tee' and 'eet' (reverse tee) commands.

* URL : http://qrisk.org/
* License : LGPLv3
  Programming Lang: C
Description : cardiovascular disease risk calculator

You can use this calculator to work out your risk of having a heart
attack or stroke over the next ten years by answering some simple
questions. It is suitable for people who do not already have a
diagnosis of heart disease or stroke.

The QRISK®2 algorithm has been developed by doctors and academics
working in the UK National Health Service and is based on routinely
collected data from many thousands of GPs across the country who
have freely contributed data for medical research.

Whilst QRISK2 has been developed for use in the UK, it is being used
internationally. For non-UK use, if the postcode field is left blank
the score will be calculated using an average value. Users should note,
however, that CVD risk is likely to be under-estimated in patients from
deprived areas and over-estimated for patients from affluent areas. All
medical decisions need to be taken by a patient in consultation with
their doctor. The authors and the sponsors accept no responsibility for
clinical use or misuse of these score..

Description : phylogenetic trees from alignments of nucleotide or
protein sequences

FastTree infers approximately-maximum-likelihood phylogenetic trees from
alignments of nucleotide or protein sequences. It handles alignments
with up to a million of sequences in a reasonable amount of time and
memory. For large alignments, FastTree is 100-1,000 times faster than
 PhyML 3.0 or RAxML 7.

FastTree is more accurate than PhyML 3 with default settings, and much
more accurate than the distance-matrix methods that are traditionally
used for large alignments. FastTree uses the Jukes-Cantor or generalized
time-reversible (GTR) models of nucleotide evolution and the JTT
(Jones-Taylor-Thornton 1992) model of amino acid evolution. To account
for the varying rates of evolution across sites, FastTree uses a single
rate for each site (the CAT approximation). To quickly estimate the
reliability of each split in the tree, FastTree computes local support
values with the Shimodaira-Hasegawa test (these are the same as PhyML 3's
 SH-like local supports).
