Bug#955803: ITP: bemenu -- Dynamic menu inspired by dmenu

2022-07-20 Thread Tzafrir Cohen
Hi,

I need bemenu for packaging of SXMO (soon to submit an ITP).
I adapted and updated packaging and it is currently at:

  https://salsa.debian.org/tzafrir/bemenu

Can I push this to https://salsa.debian.org/swaywm-team/bemenu ?

I also intend to package:

* wayout: Wayland desktop widgets from standard input text
  https://salsa.debian.org/tzafrir/wayout

* lisgd: libinput synthetic gesture daemon
  https://salsa.debian.org/tzafrir/lisgd

Do those packages also fit this team?

The package has a mediastreamer plugin. In version 1.0.2 it fails to
build and from what I understand it seems it would need libmediastream2.

>From what I see that plugin does not change the basic library. Thus I
see no problem with starting just with the library itself. I figure you
(Jaap) only need the library. Is that right?

Adding the plugin later should not break anything.

Anybody working on adding libmediastreamer2? Linphone4? Will there be a
problem with adding them in the future?

Those fonts, while provided under OTF, only include a limited number of

those under a proprietary license.

Is that acceptable for inclusion into Debian?

I updated the packaging for Stretch. It basically works, but there's
more work needed to get it ready. In the same place.

It's now based on impoted tarballs (which I now generate using git

I removed all the non-distributable bits (the alaw_ulaw file with the

It's mostly done. But I would appreciate it if someone would be me to

The next thing I need to do is to figure out how to create a stripped

git filter-branch. But then how do we update Upstream changees?

My branch is a few commits behind the Asterisk Upstream, so it would be

Bug#708122: ITP: pjsip -- VoIP library implementing SIP and related protocols

2013-05-13 Thread Tzafrir Cohen
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Tzafrir Cohen tzaf...@debian.org

* Package name: pjsip
  Version : 2.1.0.0.ast20130312
  Upstream Author : http://www.teluu.com/
* URL : http://pjsip.org/
* License : GPL2+ (with OpenSSL exceptions)
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : VoIP library implementing SIP and related protocols

 multimedia communication library implementing standard based protocols
 such as SIP, SDP, RTP, STUN, TURN, and ICE. It combines signaling
 protocol (SIP) with multimedia framework and NAT traversal functionality
 into high level multimedia communication API that is portable and
 suitable for almost any type of systems ranging from desktops, embedded
 systems, to mobile handsets.

PJSIP (a.k.a PJProject. pjsip may refer to only one of its components,
implementing the SIP protocol) is normally built as a static library and
embedded in projects. It is currently embedded in sflphone (any other
package?).

Asterisk 11 uses an embedded copy of pjsip for some extra features in
the SIP channel driver. Asterisk = 12 (current trunk) will use it as
the base for its SIP channel driver (and possibly more things). In order
to avoid an embedded copy of the library, the developers of Asterisk
maintain their own copy of pjsip which is dynamically-linked[1]. This
packaging is based on that copy. According to them this patch set should
be merged back to the pjsip maintainers by October (when Asterisk 12 is
released).

Initial packaging could be found at [2] (named pjproject). Packages
built from it: at [3]. Specifically, I'm not exactly sure if we need
more than the single -dev package / component. See [4].

Originally: the WebRTC project: http://webrtc.org
* URL : https://github.com/dekkers/libilbc
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : Internet Low Bitrate Codec (iLBC) library

Free speech codec suitable for robust voice communication over
IP. The codec is designed for narrow band speech and results in a
payload bit rate of 13.33 kbit/s with an encoding frame length of 30
ms and 15.20 kbps with an encoding length of 20 ms. The iLBC codec
enables graceful speech quality degradation in the case of lost
frames, which occurs in connection with lost or delayed IP
packets. iLBC is specified by RFC 3951.

The iLBC codec from RFC 3951 is almost free (source code available,
not DFSG-compatible). It has thus been incorperated in a number of
programs. It has not been very popular recently, but it is still used in
various places (Asterisk, Opal, Yate).

Lately GIPS, who originally wrote the codec, was purchaced by Google.
Later on Google provided an iLBC codec (and some others) as part of the
newly released WebRTC code. That code has no licensing issues, but it
provides a different API. This project provides an API mostly compatible
with the original RFC 3951 codec.

The library will be packaged by the pkg-voip team.

Bug#635285: RFP: chan-datacard -- Asterisk PBX channel driver for Huawei UMTS cards

  Description : Asterisk PBX channel driver for Huawei UMTS cards
   channel driver for the Asterisk PBX that provides support for
   several Huawei UTMS cards and thus allows Asterisk to send and recieve
   SMS-es through them.

Technically this is mostly an ITP: I have something that should be a
working package (SVN: [1], binaries: [2]). However I don't have the
hardware and thus the package is completely untested.

I packaged it because I have recieved multiple requests that it should
be packaged. But I need someone with the hardware for at least testing
if you want it in Debian.

 For example:

Right. This multi-tarball package does not work well with the current
toolchain. I've replaced it with three simple separate source packages.
I wonder if new ITPs are in order.

 collection of console utility scripts for use with the Review Board code

Review Board is package separately:
http://packages.debian.org/reviewboard . It is currently only in
experimental. post-review is included as a little contrib script there.
However reviewboard is a complicated server package, whereas the
post-review script is a simple client-side script.

Alternatively it can be split from reviewboard. But upstream distributes
it separately:
http://www.reviewboard.org/downloads/

As I'm not yet a DD, I'm looking for a sponsor for this package. Anybody
else uses Review Board? The package is a fairly simple python package.

Bug#571166: ITP: asterisk-core-sounds -- base voice prompts for the Asterisk PBX

2010-02-23 Thread Tzafrir Cohen
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-de...@lists.debian.org
Owner: Tzafrir Cohen tzafrir.co...@xorcom.com

* Package Name: asterisk-core-sounds
  Version : 1.4.17
  Upstream Author : Digium Inc.
* URL : http://downloads.asterisk.org/pub/telephony/sounds
* License : CC-BY-SA-3.0
* Programming Lang: (Collection of sound prompts)
* Description : base voice prompts for the Asterisk PBX
 the basic set of voice prompts that is distributed with the Asterisk
 PBX. It includes numbers, basic prompts used by Asterisk applications,
 and such.

This package is provided by Upstream in three different languages
(en_US and es_MX by Allison Smith and fr_CA by June Wallack) and in 9
different audio formats. Of those formats it seems like a good idea to
package:

* gsm: Was default for a long time, compressed, and playable in Sox and
   others even though it is a raw file.
* wav: Uncompressed, and thus preserves quality. Now a raw file and thus
   more convinient to manipulate. (wav is 8kHz, 16 bits/sample,
   mono).
* g722: Of the available wide-band formats, this was the sanest (slin16
   is huge).

Thus we will eventually have the binary packages
asterisk-core-sounds-{en,es,fr}-{g722,gsm,wav} .

Note that the existing package 'asterisk-sounds' is the same as the
the resulting asterisk-core-sounds-en-gsm . The other 8 proposed
packages have no equivalent in the archives. There are some existing
packages of French prompts, but they are fr_FR and not fr_CA (and not as
complete).

Initial packaging has already been created in the SVN repository of the
pkg-voip team. See
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-voip-maintainers/2010-February/016317.html
for the complete details.

 Since Linus is always right, I uploaded the full source + changes to
 github, so anyone who wants will be able to maintain this package can
 take over the project, and have the full history. The repository can
 be found at:
 http://github.com/elcuco/flashybrid

A few extra words about the package: it helps keeping most of the system
read-only, while still allowing a read-write remount occasionally and
such. A different (and nowadays more common) solution to a similar
problem is to use union mounts.

My main issue with this package is that I have no idea if upstream has

Apart from that, the package will probably needs a few minor updates.

Frankly I'd love to see the long-promised 2.0.5 by upstream.

We use fxload in our products. I just noticed it has been orphaned.

There's a new upstream release that also removed the need for the local
patch added in the previous NMU. I still need to review the two other
proposed patches.

At first glance it would be simpler to re-do most of the packaging, as
this is a fairly simple package.

I'll probably need a sponsor for it, though.

 Thanks in advance,

The FreeSwitch tarball has some 10MB-20MB of code and more than 100MB of
extra libraries included inline. Most (if not all) of them are included
in Debian. One of them not included is openzap .

IIRC it installs under /opt (but I may be confusing it with another

In short, there's some Debianization work to do.

I'm currently busy with some other things, and thus it's rather low on

 good in all of these regards, is quite portable, and is LGPL-licensed
 (unlike the technically superior libsamplerate).

The version there has not been updated for quite some time. Fedora
includes it as a package (probably because CCRMA did). It is merely a
static library.

Asterisk, which seems to dislike the concept of GPLed libraries, decided
to use it and (as it must use a PIC library for its dynamically-loaded
module) made a few minimal changes in:

  http://svn.asterisk.org/svn/thirdparty/libresample/trunk/

It is needed for building codec_resample and app_jack.

A copy of it is included in audacity, but not actually used
(The system copy of libsamplerate is used instead).

Bug#496258: asterisk-gui (not)

Update on the asterisk-gui ITP: not going anywhere for now.

I spent some time recently trying to update asterisk-gui .

Sadly I could not get much farther. It kept looping at startup and
upstream has been quite uncooperative. Debugging the maze of client-side
Javascript has proved to be quite uncooperative:

http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=14840

Current version of the package will not work with latest Asterisk 1.6.1
and DAHDI. My work-in-progress patches to adapt some SVN version (that
does support them) is at my working copy if anybody wants to pursue
this.

But it seems that the asterisk-gui is something designed for asterisk
running as root and executing shell commands provided from the user with
minimal or no filtering. This is not something I like.

Bug#464926: ITP: freepbx -- web-based management interface for the Asterisk PBX

2008-02-09 Thread Tzafrir Cohen
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A
Severity: wishlist

* Package name : freepbx
Version : 2.3.1
Upstream Author : Astrogen LLC philippe at freepbx dot org
* URL : http://freepbx.org/
* License : GPL
Description : web-based management interface for the Asterisk PBX
 FreePBX (formally AMP) is a web-based GUI for the Asterisk PBX.
 It provides the ability to:
  * create/modify SIP/IAX extensions  voicemail boxes
  * modify handling of incoming calls based on time-of-day
  * create interactive IVR menus
  * create sophisticated call groups
  * upload custom MOH
  * change company directory behavior
  * set directions for detected incoming faxes
  * view extension and trunk status with Flash Operator Panel (www.asternic.org)
  * read voicemail via the browser with ARI

With Debian we already have a package of the Flash Operator Panel, and the
package has been patched accrdingly to use that copy.

FreePBX also uses jgraph, which has been removed from the package.

The package is currently available from:
Vcs-Svn: svn://svn.debian.org/pkg-voip/freepbx/trunk/
Vcs-Browser: http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-voip/freepbx/?op=log

Part of the package is available in modules that upstream allows updating
separately. We currently repackage them in the separate package
freepbx-modules .

 Most of the functionlity of FreePBX is available in separate modules that

 I note we still Build-Depend on libzap-dev in both asterisk bayonne.

 But perhaps we don't need to anymore..

I guess that at some point in History Asterisk has needed libzap. It is
not needed anymore. Libzap has not been copied by Digium to the SVN when
they moved from a CVS to a SVN system.

I don't know about bayonne.

 reflect above. Sign and then upload to unstable.

Sure, go ahead.

 Enjoy Elena Kuschnerova, pianist, and Lev Guelbard, violinist, playing
 public domain classical music on hold with your Asterisk PBX.

There are some 100MB of music there. That's a hugh package. Do you
suppose there any point in breaking it?

As for the name: it is not the music-on-hold of asterisk. do you
suppose we should call it asterisk-sounds-moh-classic or
asterisk-sounds-moh-signate ?

As for the package itself: I've packaged the original (non-free) FPM moh
files of asterisk into a package I currently call 'asterisk-sounds-moh'.
I don't remember anything non-trivial in packaging it.

Hi

Yet another ping on iaxclient.

I've been using iaxcomm from the iaxclient package of mentos for a
while. Seems good enough. It seems that this package is being
manitained.

Is it coming to Debian any time soon?
