Bug#1078475: ITP: python-tzdata -- provider of IANA time zone data
Hi, I did consider the same and discussed within the python team, but tzdata does not have US/* timezones anymore (which apparently now is in the tzdata-legacy package) which pendulum uses. Having to depend on several packages and adding several workarounds does not seem really nice when there is a perfectly well upstream package that is made just for such usages, not to mention maintained by the python team itself. And as mentioned, zoneinfo from standard library itself seems to be making use of the python tzdata package (just what I found after going through the source code), so I believe there is value in having this in debian. Bug#1078475: ITP: python-tzdata -- provider of IANA time zone data
From the pytz pypi: "Projects using Python 3.9 or later should be using the support now included as part of the standard library, and third party packages work with it such as tzdata. pytz offers no advantages beyond backwards compatibility with code written for earlier versions of Python." tzdata is maintained by the python team itself and as far as I can tell, zoneinfo from the standard library is also making use of this. Bug#1064050: packaging zellij
Hi Arturo, I just filed an ITP for zellij yesterday (#1073803, somehow missed out this one), and came to know about this existing ITP only now. I have been working towards packaging zellij, by packaging its dependency tree, since ~late-jan - early-feb this year. I am already at over 50 crates packaged, although a significant part of the effort is still remaining. From what I can see, you haven't started on this yet (assuming since I don't see any dependency uploads). So, do you mind me taking over this ITP? Of course, zellij is huge and having a co-maintainer will be incredibly helpful, so whichever one you think is better can be chosen. On another note, seeing your interest in zellij, you could really help me out by uploading the zellij dependencies I have packaged. I am only a DM yet and cannot upload to NEW, so there are 30+ crates that I have packaged left to be uploaded. Rust team has a huge number of packages and not enough sponsors; you can improve this situation if you choose to be a sponsor. My original intention was to ITP zellij after I made sure that I could take care of this properly, but since it has seen a clash here, it seems that I should have known better. In any case, I'll merge the ITP bugs later. Best, Ananthu

Bug#1055192: RFS: golang-github-apenella-go-ansible
Hi Maytham, Once again, thanks for the care, and what you mentioned once again made sense so I've implemented them after testing. While I feel bad at the fact that I've missed these more than once, in the process I also just solved something that had been bugging me. That said, I'd rather I haven't missed more things xD Thanks again :) Best, Ananthu On 18 December 2023 1:19:10 pm IST, Maytham Alsudany wrote: >Hi Ananthu, > >On Sat, 2023-12-16 at 16:07 +0530, weepingclown wrote: >> DH_GOLANG_EXCLUDES_ALL is true by default since DH_COMPAT 12 (according to >> the >> manual at least). Bug#1055192: RFS: golang-github-apenella-go-ansible
Hi Maytham, Thanks a lot for this and I really appreciate it, especially considering it has been a while (~6weeks) since I've sent this RFS. Thank you for DH_GOLANG_EXCLUDES, that was what I was looking for, but couldn't get any answers from anyone before. This also helped removing the DH_GOLANG_INSTALL_EXTRA in entirety. I found your other suggestions just as valid and reasonable, and have applied all of them. Thanks a lot for the review! Now, I'd appreciate if there is someone who could sponsor this in the go team. That includes uploading the two dependencies of this; apenella-go-common-utils and sossedoff-vault-go. Hoping to find a sponsor this time. Bug#1030835: Packaging ruff
Hi, Recently I tried to get started with packaging ruff, but found out there is already ongoing work on it. However it seems there is a quite a bit of work to do, so I will be happy to help out in any way possible. I will have to mention that I am still rather new to packaging. With that in my mind, do you think I could be of any help? If you want to dicuss about something, please feel free to mail me, or you can find me at @weepingclown:matrix.org. In any case, I appreciate the work you are doing a lot! Cheers, Ananthu
