So, yes, it *should* work with this program if you've got a recent enough version. Okay, fair enough. Florian If it doesn't, the wm prefix is a bit confusing. Perhaps, if you use WindowMaker ;-) There are already a few packages that are named wm* and don't have to do with WindowMaker (wmix, wml are two I found right away). wmix is a dockapp and thus related to WindowMaker. wml has nothing to do with window managers at all, so there is less potential of confusion. I'd hate to name the package anything but wmctrl since that is what everyone else calls it! If it works with WindowMaker, the wm prefix isn't harmful, so I'd say go ahead and package it under this name.

I always felt happy finding, reporting and fixing bugs without being a DD, and never found a package that was wnpp *and* one that I actually used a whole lot until wmctrl. The config.{sub,guess} thing is perhaps still a matter of opinion
somewhere, but I was of the understanding this issue had been
resolved. At any rate I am never keen on adding ~20k to a .diff.gz
unless it actually fixes an extant bug. If you have a better reason
than some bloke said to do this I'll listen.
Get yourself in the queue, and I'll upload it. Feel free to refer your
AM to me if you need someone to vouch for your ability to understand
packaging issues.

That's a lesson in getting details right :-) When I filed that RFP bug
I'd never expected to find a maintainer or sponsor the same night. In
hindsight I should not have rushed this out without going over the
cruft, though I know I'd have missed the ChangeLog issue!

I couldn't agree more, and you've actually made me feel much better
now that I understand this. The bloke was dh_make, and I decided to
obey this first time around. I now know to read debian-mentors .

For example it can maximize windows, make them sticky, set them to be always on top, it can switch and resize desktops, and perform many other useful operations.
