Bug#178242: confirmation

I can confirm this behaviour. I just got a Radeon 7500 and had to
downgrade to -3 (from testing) to get mesa/glx stuff working. With -5,
everything (glxgears, stellarium, tuxracer) just displays a blank
window.

Bug#179407: xterm: bold fonts do not work with widechars (and consequently utf-8 mode)

2003-02-01 Thread Joanne Hunter
Package: xterm
Version: 4.2.1-5
Severity: normal

Whenever XTerm's wide character support is turned on (whether by command
line or X resource, or as part of turning on UTF-8 support), boldfaced
characters will never show up at all. As soon as it's turned off,
boldface fonts show back up.

Bug#179390: Keyboard input with a type5 keyboard is b0rked.

2003-02-01 Thread James A Morrison

package: xfree86
version: 4.2.1-5
severity: grave

X is now unusable on my Ultra 5 running unstable. It seems that the
keymap is messed up. I can use the console as normal. However, when
I try to use X my keys are shifted to the right by a key for the first
two letter rows and I don't know what happened to the rest. I didn't
notice before because I hadn't restarted X in a while. My XF86Config-4
hasn't changed since october.

until I logged out and X got restarted on me.

Bug#179352: xfree86: [wishlist] Updated brazilian portuguese (pt_BR) debconf template translation

2003-02-01 Thread Andre Luis Lopes
Package: xfree86
Version: unavailable; reported 2003-02-01
Severity: wishlist

Hi Branden,

After some time laging behind the others translators, here's me again
with yet-another-xfree86's-pt_BR-translation. I think it's the very
first one I did since the po-debconf transition.

Also, I would like to note that this translation was completely done
based on a previous translation I found at [1] (note that [1] is not
available there anymore). Since then, you released -5 packages and I
couldn't prepare my translation in time for -5 release.

Anyway, I downloaded [2], which is suposed to be the latest translation
shipped with -5 packages. A diff from the previous -4 and the actual -5
templates showed me only this unidiff'd output :

==
--- xfree86_4.2.1-4_pt_BR.po2003-01-17 23:03:20.0 -0200

So I only changed Project-Id-version and PO-Revision-Date headers,
finished the remaining translation and I'm sending it to the BTS.

Let me know if anything's wrong or if I should do anything else besides
what I already did.

Package: xserver-xfree86
Version: 4.2.1-5
Severity: normal

It seems like the xserver in this new version is impossible to start. My
guess is that this is a platform specific bug to the alpha port.

An identical configuration file and a few other tried worked with
4.2.1-3 (4.2.1-4 failed compilation according to
http://buildd.debian.org/).

To my eyes the error seems to be with loadable modules. The following
two lines are repeated several thousand times in XFree86.0.log.

Elf_RelocateEntry() Unsupported relocation type 18
Elf_RelocateEntry() Unsupported relocation type 17

I'm attaching a stripped down version. Since the file has 15752 lines.

Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.

gcc 3.2 supports a new kind of relocation, which facilitates
instruction scheduling. The X ELF module loader doesn't know about it,
and therefore fails to load any module.

There's a patch mentioned at

http://www.redhat.com/mailing-lists/axp-list/msg19583.html

but it has at least one obvious bug. I will whether I find something
upstream or at Ret Hat, or write something myself.

==

Elf_RelocateEntry() Unsupported relocation type 18
Elf_RelocateEntry() Unsupported relocation type 17

Yes, I have. Do I have to do something else after installing the
deb-package? Following "man glide", I figured out that
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libglide2x.so is a link to /usr/lib/libglide.so.2, not
to /usr/lib/libglide2x.so how it should be. Changed that, changed the device
section to:

Section "Device"
Identifier "Diamond MonsterII"
Driver "glide"
Option "dpms" "on"
# BusID "PCI:00:03:02"
BusID "PCI:0:3:0"
EndSection

Still the same result and log, here the last lines:

(II) LoadModule: "glide"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/glide_drv.o
(II) Module glide: vendor="The XFree86 Project"
compiled for 4.2.1, module version = 1.0.0
Module class: XFree86 Video Driver
ABI class: XFree86 Video Driver, version 0.5
(II) Loading sub module "glide2x"
(II) LoadModule: "glide2x"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libglide2x.so
(II) LoadModule: "mouse"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/input/mouse_drv.o
(II) Module mouse: vendor="The XFree86 Project"
compiled for 4.2.1, module version = 1.0.0
Module class: XFree86 XInput Driver
ABI class: XFree86 XInput driver, version 0.3
(II) GLIDE: driver for Glide devices (Voodoo cards): Voodoo
(II) Primary Device is: PCI 00:05:0
(EE) No devices detected.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

It_s interesting that I wrote in the XF86Config-4 in the device section:
BusID "PCI:0:3:0"
but in the logfile, X recognizes:
(II) Primary Device is: PCI 00:05:0
Is this right?
PCI 00:05:0 is the Diamond Stealth 3d 2000 card, not the expansion card.

If needed, I'll send the whole logs and XF86Config again.

Best regards

Lucia Cosima Eiselstein

Yes, I have. Do I have to do something else after installing the
deb-package? Following "man glide", I figured out that
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libglide2x.so is a link to /usr/lib/libglide.so.2, not
to /usr/lib/libglide2x.so how it should be. Changed that, changed the device
section to:

Section "Device"
Identifier "Diamond MonsterII"
Driver "glide"
Option "dpms" "on"
# BusID "PCI:00:03:02"
BusID "PCI:0:3:0"
EndSection

Still the same result and log, here the last lines:

(II) LoadModule: "glide"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/glide_drv.o
(II) Module glide: vendor="The XFree86 Project"
compiled for 4.2.1, module version = 1.0.0
Module class: XFree86 Video Driver
ABI class: XFree86 Video Driver, version 0.5
(II) Loading sub module "glide2x"
(II) LoadModule: "glide2x"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libglide2x.so
(II) LoadModule: "mouse"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/input/mouse_drv.o
(II) Module mouse: vendor="The XFree86 Project"
compiled for 4.2.1, module version = 1.0.0
Module class: XFree86 XInput Driver
ABI class: XFree86 XInput driver, version 0.3
(II) GLIDE: driver for Glide devices (Voodoo cards): Voodoo
(II) Primary Device is: PCI 00:05:0
(EE) No devices detected.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

It_s interesting that I wrote in the XF86Config-4 in the device section:
BusID "PCI:0:3:0"
but in the logfile, X recognizes:
(II) Primary Device is: PCI 00:05:0
Is this right?
PCI 00:05:0 is the Diamond Stealth 3d 2000 card, not the expansion card.

If needed, I'll send the whole logs and XF86Config again.

Best regards
