Bug#371057: xserver-xfree86: [mga, tdfx] killing/destroying glxgears client corrupts display on Matrox MGA G200 and 3Dfx Voodoo Banshee rev 3

Although I still own a G200 card, I do no longer own any motherboard supporting 3.3 V graphics cards for testing it. Bug#155291: xserver-xfree86: [trident] hardware cursor corrupted on CyberBlade/i1

MS-6368 (CyberBlade/i1): can't test, boards work in headless servers. Compaq N100 (CyberBlade/i7d): Xorg defaults to SW cursor, so I guess the problem is solved and it's OK to close the bug now. Re: [RFC] Splitting/reorganizing xbase-clients & xutils
On Sat, 5 May 2007, Brice Goglin wrote: Note that ico, xcalc, xdbedizzy, xditview, xedit, xgc, xman, xmore might be dropped by upstream in the future (see http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2007-April/023355.html) Are you planning to split the binary package only or also the source? I hadn't thought of that, but as we spoke on #debian-x, we could use one big source which then would generate binary bundles, with the exception of xauth, xinit, xfs and xsm which use their own source packages? Regarding what Fedora does, I don't see why we would have to split into so many packages. Moving xauth in its own package seems important. Splitting all tiny client from server utilities too. However, for instance, I don't see why appres/editres/listres/viewres would need to be in their own xbase-resutils, they could stay with xrdb or something like that. Also the difference between xfonts-utils and xfs programs does not look easy to understand. Yes, here is the latest list (updated when something new comes up): http://users.tkk.fi/~tjaalton/xbase-clients-split.txt general consensus on #debian-x seemed to be that this looks pretty good now. There are however some packages which are not in any of the new bundles. Also, renaming xfonts-utils and xutils-dev was thought as too riski, since there are too many reverse deps on them. Further comments welcome :) t -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

That is, even with the latest (as of about one month ago) version in unstable it was still present. I was unable to get any help or pointers on the xorg mailing list so I eventually gave up and bought a cheap Nvidia card. This machine is my MythTV box and Myth has a couple of extra features on Nvidia cards (such as sync on v-blank for TV-out). The savage driver, at least on this particular chipset, also had a few other issues including some corruption/artifacts with Xvideo playback and instability with GL, so the upgrade was worth it. -- --John GruenenfelderResearch Assistant, UMass Amherst student Systems Manager, MKS Imaging Technology, LLC. Actually I do not really *need* it. I just read somewhere that its the successor of XAA and supposed to be faster. As for Amarok and Kaffeine XAA is certainly fast enough and I did not see a clear difference as I switched to EXA from XAA due to the issue I reported here anyway, I do not demand that this issue will be fixed ;) But I can give it a spin anyway. Am a bit curious at last ;-) Regards, -- Martin 'Helios' Steigerwald - http://www.Lichtvoll.de GPG: 03B0 0D6C 0040 0710 4AFA B82F 991B EAAC A599 84C7 pgpizcHOVgxzr.pgp Description: PGP signature
Bug#390630: xorg hangs on logout when used with this driver

There are several fixes regarding EXA but I don't know whether it's bug fixes or a performance fixes (see [1]). Why do you need EXA exactly? It might be good for compositing (compiz, beryl, ...) but I am not sure it could bring much improvement in other cases. That T23 now is my Amarok machine and I do my daily work with a T42 with ATI radeon, so I didn't bother to try again. I can try again tough - but I would prefer a Debian binary package. Bug#390630: xorg hangs on logout when used with this driver
Hi, Does this bug about Xorg hanging on logout on a Savage board still occur? If so, it might be fixed upstream by commit [1]. If you happen to have a chance to test this patch, please let us know if it helps. We will be backporting this fix in the next upload of the 2.1.2 driver anyway (you might want to build our git repo [2]). Bug#407199: xserver-xorg-video-savage: (II) SAVAGE(0): [drm] drmSetBusid failed
Hi Pascal, The patch that you were referring to in bugzilla.freedesktop.org seems to already be included in the savage driver that you were using (2.1.2) [1]. Do you still get the following error? (II) SAVAGE(0): [drm] DRM interface version 1.0 (II) SAVAGE(0): [drm] drmSetBusid failed (9, pci::01:00.0), Permission denied (EE) SAVAGE(0): [drm] DRIScreenInit failed. Disabling DRI. (EE) SAVAGE(0): DRI isn't enabled I don't think it could be related to a gcc version mismatch between the kernel and drm driver module since both are built and shipped within the same package. If you compiled your own kernel, you should check that drm, savage and agp modules are compiled loaded. Also check that permissions on /dev/dri/* are ok? (should be 666 from your xorg.conf) Brice [1] http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xorg/driver/xf86-video-savage.git;a=commit;h=baa74b10d7a1c304dba2d658e4d1336b7ee7e70e -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Note that ico, xcalc, xdbedizzy, xditview, xedit, xgc, xman, xmore might be dropped by upstream in the future (see http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg/2007-April/023355.html) Are you planning to split the binary package only or also the source? Regarding what Fedora does, I don't see why we would have to split into so many packages. Moving xauth in its own package seems important. Splitting all tiny client from server utilities too. However, for instance, I don't see why appres/editres/listres/viewres would need to be in their own xbase-resutils, they could stay with xrdb or something like that. Also the difference between xfonts-utils and xfs programs does not look easy to understand. my 2 cents... Brice -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#420679: wrong screensize
This is not limited to NVidia either; I get the same problem with the intel-driver. When I start X on my x60s from the dock (where I also have an external screen connected), both the internal and external display will get the resolution from the external display; before it'd use the resolution of the internal display. This is highly annoying, since the external display has higher resolution than the internal. So when I undock again I'm left with a laptop that I cannot use in a sane manner because 25% or so of the desktop is outside of the physical screen. The only way to get it working is to start the X when undocked, then dock and run xrandr --auto; that way the external display is properly enabled at the same resolution as the internal display.
