And check the status of xcursor-themes package (in case dpkg got interrupted before the postinst script was done, for instance). Of course the bug can be close, it was because I've recently reinstall all my packages (due to an amd64 migration) but keep my old copy of /var so alternatives were marks has being already installed. freenx debian packaging
What is the state of freenx packaging in debian? I've searched a lot on the web, but there are no recent packages on the net. Kanotix repo maintainer who had built some freenx packages left the job. There were some packages for ubuntu, but they are now outdated: http://seveas.theplayboymansion.net/seveas/dists/feisty-seveas/freenx/ Jeremy Wilkins updated them, and a repository with those packages (further updated by Marcelo Boveto Shima) can be found at https://edge.launchpad.net/~marceloshima/+archive I've taken them and compiled on Etch (as backports with pbuilder). They worked, but I had problems with session management. I think we should work improving things. We must also discuss to choose which nx version we should use as backed (Marcelo used nx 3.1, that's not so supported by freenx upstream..). Fedora currently has official packages of freenx 0.7.1 and nx 2.1.0. These packages are actively maintained and there are patches that solve many bugs present upstream. We could use also use those sources as a starting point, naturally changing the distro-relative things, like paths etc etc. I can help in packaging, as I have some knowledge about it. I know nx from the administrator point of view. I've also contributed to compiz/compiz-fusion packages, so I'm not so new about the debian-x politics and procedures. Please let me know if the alioth group is still active, if someone is interested in those packages for official inclusion or not. Re: [Pkg-nx-group] freenx debian packaging
There was a google summer of code about the integration of nx and xorg. Nobody did it :-( I understand all the concerns about creating a clean package. But what about a semi-ufficial package (maybe for experimental) until things will change? As all of you already said on the pkg-nx-group mailing list, Suse and redhat do this, and event support it with security patches. So why we can't do it? I don't want to start a religious flame. Like we do with ati and nvidia closed drivers we could write on the description why freenx and nx is bad. Then the user will choose to use it or not. What I can use in alternative to NX? (I've tried xrdp, but I missed some things about it's configuration). Bye, Emilio Il Tuesday 08 January 2008 14:37:08 Alexander Wirt ha scritto: Timo Aaltonen schrieb am Tuesday, den 08. Anton Ivanov wrote: pTrident-HWCursor = TRUE; if (xf86ReturnOptValBool(pTrident-Options, OPTION_SW_CURSOR, FALSE)) { from = X_CONFIG; pTrident-HWCursor = FALSE; } Adding the previous line of code to this, I am reading: * hardware cursor is enabled by default * software cursor is disabled by default (FALSE as a third argument in xf86ReturnOptValBool) * hardware cursor is disabled when software cursor is enabled So, no, it does not look like software cursor is always used. Please provide more information about the problem. At least full X log and config. There's nothing unexpected in xorg.0.log (attached). xorg.conf also attached. Pls advise on other info required. Thanks! M. Please try without the nvidia binary driver (vesa or nv should work). I'm trying nv (presumably just exchange Driver nvidia for Driver nv) - it appears not to support TwinView and reported (non-clicking mouse and non-responding keyboard) issues *DO* re-occur. Thanks, M Using 'nv' but turning off Gnome (metacity?)'s select windows when the mouse moves over them option (and thus also turning off auto-raise) seems to make the problem go away -- I'll test for longer periods later both with/without this option... Actually, turning off the 'select windows' option does NOT solve the problem -- I've just had a re-occurrance of the mouse not working: when attempting to use a Gnome menu nothing happens. it appears that the problem was due to over-clocking the AMD chip. presumably X or USB (or...?) missed some timing events? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#459837: xserver-xorg-video-ati (1:6.7.197-1): manual edit of xorg.conf is required. xrandr and xdpyinfo do not correspond to correct ddcprobe edid info
Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati Version: 1:6.7.197-1 Description: Using an old 15 TFT-LCD monitor reporting correct EDID version 1.0 information as per ddcprobe a manual edit of xorg.conf is required. Otherwise resolution is wrong rendering the GUI unusable especially with KDE and KDM or GDM login. Advice given in XStrikeForce about ModeLine entry in Monitor section is incomplete, only forcing proper graphic size. A DisplaySize entry must be included as well in the Monitor section or else fonts are too large in GDM login and KDE. The ddcprobe gives correct EDID information, but xdpyinfo and xrandr do not concur as they do with the previous xserver-xorg-video-ati version 1:6.6.193-3. Instead they report ridiculously incorrect dimensions. Below are the results of ddcprobe and xdpyinfo/xrandr before and after upgrade. The correctly working xorg.conf is listed last. This need for manual configuration using hardware correctly reporting EDID is an unacceptable regression. Please fix. Bug#459691: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd: after Thinkpad suspend, text consoles are all black
On Tue, Jan 08, 2008 at 08:30:33AM +0100, Brice Goglin wrote: Chip Salzenberg wrote: Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd Version: 1.1.0-1 Severity: normal If an X session with the radeonhd driver is running on my Thinkpad, and I suspend it (with acpitool), then on resume, all text (non-X) vts are all black. Nothing seems to bring them back. Can you try the latest upstream git before I forward this bug upstream? (this also applies to bug #459692) Sorry to say, both bugs remain in the upstream git code. -- Chip Salzenberg [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#450851: xserver-xorg-input-evdev: pointer constatntly moves down-right in captured state (most of games) when using evdev
This happens with a MS Intellimouse Explorer as well, so it's not Logitech-related. And indeed, it happens only when mouse is grabbed (setting \in_nograb 1 in tremulous fixes it). Regards -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#312718: I could reproduce the bullet copy-paste problem
Package: xterm Version: 231-1 Steps to reproduce: 1. open a new xterm window (see bullet-step1.png) 2. type the command: perl -le 'print A\x{b7}B' (see bullet-step2.png) 3. press enter (see bullet-step3.png) 4. select the A.B in the window (this will implicitly copy it to clipboard, see bullet-step4.png) 5. paste the clipboard contents to the same xterm window, the string A#B is copied (see bullet-step5.png) However, if lets continue just after step 4: (1b-5b: the same as steps 1-5 at previous sequence) 5b. paste the clipboard contents to xclipboard (see copy-to-xclipboard.png) 6b. select the conents of the xclipboard, this will update the clipboard contents again (see copy-from-xclipboard.png) 7b. paste to the xterm window: the bullet version will be there: A.B (see bullet-pasted-ok.png) My xclipboard version: ii xbase-clients 1:7.2.ds2-2miscellaneous X clients -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.23 (PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=hu_HU, LC_CTYPE=hu_HU (charmap=ISO-8859-2) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages xterm depends on: ii libc6 2.7-5 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libfontconfig12.4.2-1.2 generic font configuration library ii libice6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libncurses5 5.6+20071124-1 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libsm62:1.0.3-1+b1 X11 Session Management library ii libx11-6 2:1.0.3-7 X11 client-side library ii libxaw7 2:1.0.4-1 X11 Athena Widget library ii libxext6 1:1.0.3-2 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxft2 2.1.12-2 FreeType-based font drawing librar ii libxmu6 1:1.0.3-1 X11 miscellaneous utility library ii libxt61:1.0.5-3 X11 toolkit intrinsics library ii xbitmaps 1.0.1-2Base X bitmaps Versions of packages xterm recommends: ii xutils 1:7.1.ds.3-1 X Window System utility programs -- no debconf information inline: bullet-step1.pnginline: bullet-step2.pnginline: bullet-step3.pnginline: bullet-step4.pnginline: bullet-step5.pnginline: copy-to-xclipboard.pnginline: copy-from-xclipboard.pnginline: bullet-pasted-ok.png
