Bug#515527: base: dual screen functionality does not work
Thanks, I will play with getting the dual screens functioning (I've done it before all be it with my older nvidia card), just getting no display at all after a clean install was concerning. I'm not sure if your card has a G80 board, but you might want to look at http://wiki.debian.org/XStrikeForce/HowToRandR12 to see how to setup dualhead nowadays. If you're card is not supported by xrandr, I think there are other ways for nv, but right now I dont know which ;-) regards, Holger On Sonntag, 15. Bug#515619: [compiz] Incomplete decorations (missing/misplaced buttons on decoration)
Package: compiz Version: 0.7.6-7 Severity: normal Hi, Note that this is probably caused by versions of GNOME from experimental. Compiz shows incomplete decorations for me; the application icon and menu button is there, but the other buttons (minimize, maximize, close) on the right hand side are missing. Also the window title sometimes is clipped or incorrectly centered. When I hover the mouse over the close button, the maximize button appears about 200px left of the right border of the window, while the window title jumps a few pixels to the right. So something about the window decorator is confused about where to place the buttons on the right side of the window. http://www.mucl.de/~erich/compiz.png Is a screenshot of what this looks like when hovering over the window menu button. This is also approximately (give/take 20 pixels) the location where the window title is clipped when not hovering. I've never seen any of the other buttons; nor can you click them except for the menu button. The Ubuntu bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/327793 might be related, and apparently was fixed by uploading a newer version of compiz. I also tested default x.org configuration, but there was same results. Now I must use framebuffer. It works, but performace is very poor. Sounds like an AGP problem. Try setting another AGP mode. Bug#515512: xserver-xorg-video-radeon: xserver freezes on ati rv280
Thanks a lot for your tip. So it works only with 1 and 2 agp mode. On Sun, Feb 15, 2009 at 4:49 PM, Miloslav Semler maj...@tiscali.cz wrote: Package: xserver-xorg-video-radeon Version: 1:6.9.0-1+lenny4 Severity: important Hello, I have an problem with driver xserver-xorg-video-radeon. If I start x.org with this driver, it consumes 95+% cpu and do nothing. Instead of continuing in boot, it hangs and shut down monitor to DMPS. I tested older kernel, which worked ok, but now it does same. The problem was occured when I upgraded from sarge to lenny. Xserver is binary distribution, drivers and kernel too. I also tested default x.org configuration, but there was same results. Now I must use framebuffer. It works, but performace is very poor. Sounds like an AGP problem. Try setting another AGP mode. Add the following option to the device section of your config: Option AGPMode X where X = 1 or 2 or 4 or 8. When you find an AGP mode that works, let me know and I'll add a quirk to the driver. The error occurs with libtool-2.2.6a and libtool-2.2.4. The error does not occur with libtool-1.5.26. The error is caused because the libtool file is not created by the time sed attempts to fix the SONAME. Libtool-2.2 made an incompatible change to LT_INIT (which replaces AC_PROG_LIBTOOL): it generates the libtool script at the AC_OUTPUT, rather then right after being called. Sometimes, configure scripts call configure to run tests or read its settings; in those cases, LT_OUTPUT can be appended to force libtool generation earlier. There is one caveat: libtool is still (re)generated during AC_OUTPUT, so in our case, even adding LT_OUTPUT wouldn't help, because the sed changes are overwritten. AFAICS the solution is to use AC_CONFIG_COMMANDS; patch against current git master attached. Bug#504535: xserver-xorg-video-radeon: Freeze in 24bit and 16bit fullscreen (Radeon Mobility M6 LY)
Alex Deucher wrote: Looks like we already have a quirk for this system. It should be handled properly in newer versions of the driver. Sylvain, We have radeon driver 6.10.99.0 in experimental, but you'll have to upgrade many Xorg packages to get it. I have rebuilt it for Lenny on i386, the packages are available at http://people.debian.org/~bgoglin/rebuilds/ati-6.10.99.0-Xserver1.4/ Please try one of the above after removing AGPMode from your xorg.conf, see what AGPMode the log now reports and whether it still freezes. thanks, Brice -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-x-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#504535: xserver-xorg-video-radeon: Freeze in 24bit and 16bit fullscreen (Radeon Mobility M6 LY)

Sylvain, We have radeon driver 6.10.99.0 in experimental, but you'll have to upgrade many Xorg packages to get it. The system locks up at the GDM prompt in 24bit after displaying half of the screen. In 16bit it goes well, unless I start a game in fullscreen (e.g. torus-trooper), in which case it will eventually lock in less than a few minutes. The video card worked in 24bit under Etch. I played little games and torus-trooper wasn't available under Etch so I can't say for sure that the _full-screen_ freeze couldn't happen before. 24bit 2D fullscreen sure worked ok though. -- Package-specific info: Contents of /var/lib/x11/X.roster: xserver-xorg /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum does not exist. Package: compiz-gtk Version: 0.7.6-7 Severity: important I have upgraded my system to GNOME 2.24[0] (from experimental) and after logging out and logging in, compiz no longer renders the minimize, maximize, and close buttons which are normally rendered on the right side of the title bar. However, I can use the menu icon on the left side of the window normally. If my mouse hovers over the menu icon, a button (so far, either maximize or minimize) will appear towards the right of the title bar, but not at the right edge, as it normally would. The title is centered between the menu icon and the button, instead of being centered with respect to the entire title bar. Obviously, I think compiz should render the title bar as it used to: with all three buttons visible and placed correctly and the title fully centered. A screenshot is available at http://crustytoothpaste.ath.cx/~bmc/files/Screenshot.png; you may find it helpful. [0] This includes everything from the 2.24 gnome-desktop-environment package except seahorse-plugins, which is unavailable. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.28-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages compiz-gtk depends on: ii compiz-core 0.7.6-7OpenGL window and compositing mana ii gconf22.24.0-4 GNOME configuration database syste ii libatk1.0-0 1.22.0-1 The ATK accessibility toolkit ii libc6 2.9-0exp2 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcairo2 1.8.4-1The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libdbus-1-3 1.2.1-5simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.76-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdecoration00.7.6-7Compiz window decoration library ii libgconf2-4 2.24.0-4 GNOME configuration database syste ii libglib2.0-0 2.18.4-2 The GLib library of C routines ii libgtk2.0-0 2.14.7-1 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libmetacity0 1:2.24.0-1 library of lightweight GTK2 based ii libpango1.0-0 1.22.3-1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libwnck22 2.22.3-1 Window Navigator Construction Kit ii libx11-6 2:1.1.5-2 X11 client-side library ii libxrender1 1:0.9.4-2 X Rendering Extension client libra compiz-gtk recommends no packages. Bug#514975: Same problem with Acer laptop
I'm not technically sophisticated but hope this helps. I had exactly the same keyboard problem as the OP running Debian testing (2.6.26-1-686) on an Acer Aspire 3503 laptop: the keyboard became unuseable in X but functioned normally in TTY1 etc. /var/log/Xorg.0.log showed no errors. I resolved it by removing xkb-data 1.5-2, which the system then automatically replaced by installing xkb-data-legacy. The keyboard now functions normally. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-x-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
