Probably? It seems quite likely for -fbdev to be installed, and I think

 Seems fair.  I haven't had time to investigate this yet, unfortunately;
I guess I could add the help tag.

Do you have any idea which change caused the problem?

In xserver-xorg-core, the default value of Option ExaOptimizeMigration

I just pushed a patch for this, thanks for reminding me. Also added to

I'm using blender under kde4 with effects enabled.

With KDE effects (compositing in general) this is expected until the
drivers support DRI2.

If it also happens without, the Mesa patch from
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21653 may help (testing
instructions at http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21653#c7).

Bug#529397: compiz: Very very very slow on nVidia Quadro NVS 285

2009-05-19 Thread Manuel Bilderbeek
Package: compiz
Version: 0.8.2-6
Severity: normal

While other GL stuff runs fine, running compiz is unbearably slow on my
nVidia Quadro NVS 285, using nVidia's proprietary drivers. See:
  GL_VERSION: 2.1.2 NVIDIA 173.14.09
  GL_VENDOR: NVIDIA Corporation
  GL_RENDERER: Quadro NVS 285/PCI/SSE2

Maybe it has to do with a dual screen setup?

Note: slow means that I can see windows being drawn when clicking on
them to bring them forward. Many other parts of the desktop aren't drawn
at all (window content, panel applets, etc.). This makes the desktop
completely unusable when running compiz.

I'm starting from a GNOME/Metacity session and I type: compiz --replace
in a terminal to get this result.

Any other info I can provide to find the cause?

Bug#529479: French translation of xkeyboard-config: inconsistencies with ISO-3166 translations for 4 country names

2009-05-19 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: xkeyboard-config
Severity: normal
Tags: l10n

Translations of xkeyboard-config will soon be used by Debian Installer,
which explains why I had a look at them, in that case with my member of the
Debian French l10n team hat.

xkeyboard-config includes many (maybe even all) country names, that are
already translated in the iso-codes software package
(http://pkg-isocodes.alioth.debian.org/) which is *not* a Debian-only
package, but also used by many upstream authors (GNOME mostly) for
translations of countries and languages names.

When comparing both French translations of xkeyboard-config (managed by
Marc Veillet and traduc.org) and those of iso-codes' ISO-3166 (managed by
me...but actually taken from the standard itself as French names for
countries are part of that standard), I found 4 differences:

#. #-#-#-#-# fr.po #-#-#-#-#
#. name for ETH, historic names for ETH (withdrawn 1993-07-16)
#: ../rules/base.xml.in.h:207 ../rules/evdev.xml.in.h:207

msgstr
#-#-#-#-# fr.po #-#-#-#-#\n
Éthiopie\n
#-#-#-#-# fr.po (xkeyboard-config 1.5) #-#-#-#-#\n

Here, xkeyboard-config is missing the capital E acute. And my
translation has a nasty \n which I'll remove immediately..:-)

#. #-#-#-#-# fr.po #-#-#-#-#
#. name for FRO
#: ../rules/base.xml.in.h:216 ../rules/evdev.xml.in.h:216

#-#-#-#-# fr.po #-#-#-#-#\n
Feroë, Îles\n
#-#-#-#-# fr.po (xkeyboard-config 1.5) #-#-#-#-#\n
Îles Féroé

Here, xkeyboard-config uses the natural translation that unfortunately
places Feroë in a weird place in alphabetical lists.

#. #-#-#-#-# fr.po #-#-#-#-#
#. name for KOR
#: ../rules/base.xml.in.h:336 ../rules/evdev.xml.in.h:336

#-#-#-#-# fr.po (xkeyboard-config 1.5) #-#-#-#-#\n

Same hereCorée, République de would be better placed in alphabetical
lists

#. #-#-#-#-# fr.po #-#-#-#-#

That one is more worrying and potential source of strong political
arguments..:-)

I attach a patch with suggested changes.

Yes, I noticed this bug just this week mixed in with the other debian-x
traffic but thanks for drawing my attention to it, it's easy to miss
stuff in the flood.

There's a new upstream release which needs packaging (and I guess omits
the asm/page.h include since I didn't notice any failures). I've been
working on it and it's pretty much done, just need to finalise it. I was
hoping to find an evening this week but it looks like next is more
likely at this point.

drm-snapshot override disparity

2009-05-19 Thread Debian Installer
There are disparities between your recently accepted upload and the
override file for the following file(s):

drm-modules-source_2.4.11+git+20090519+f355ad8-1_all.deb: package says section
is libs, override says kernel.
libdrm-nouveau1-dbg_2.4.11+git+20090519+f355ad8-1_amd64.deb: package says
section is debug, override says libdevel.

Please note that a list of new sections were recently added to the
archive: cli-mono, database, debug, fonts, gnu-r, gnustep, haskell,
httpd, java, kernel, lisp, localization, ocaml, php, ruby, vcs, video,
xfce, zope. At this time a script was used to reclassify packages into
these sections. If this is the case, please only reply to this email if
the new section is inappropriate, otherwise please update your package
at the next upload.

Either the package or the override file is incorrect. If you think
the override is correct and the package wrong please fix the package
so that this disparity is fixed in the next upload. If you feel the
override is incorrect then please reply to this mail and explain why.
Please INCLUDE the list of packages as seen above, or we won't be able
to deal with your mail due to missing information.

[NB: this is an automatically generated mail; if you replied to one
like it before and have not received a response yet, please ignore
this mail. Your reply needs to be processed by a human and will be in
due course, but until then the installer will send these automated
mails; sorry.]

Actually, this might happen because I am pulling down a newer version
from upstream, so it might not be a bug in the current package but
could be in the next :)

After the upstream commit
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/drm/commit/?id=7e5c512104c3ae9b4ddd121f6bbf9464f8d73181
the libdrm_nouveau1 shared libraries are not built since configure
needs --enable-nouveau-experimental-api=yes in order to build it.

I am attaching the patch as well, since gmail usually breaks inline patches.

Bug#528708: Not completely fixed upstream in 7.4.2

2009-05-19 Thread Daniel Schepler
I just tried compiling and installing Mesa 7.4.2 (copied the debian/ directory
from 7.4.1-1 into an unpacked copy of 7.4.2, and added a 7.4.2-0 version to
debian/changelog). It does fix the crashes with the Qt OpenGL examples --
although with the textures example and a couple others, when I exit I get

Mesa 7.4.2 implementation error: invalid reference to a deleted texture object
Please report at bugzilla.freedesktop.org
textures: main/texobj.c:305: _mesa_reference_texobj: Assertion
`valid_texture_object(oldTex)' failed.
Aborted

But with the application I'm developing I still get the condition where
glGetString(GL_VERSION) returns NULL in my override of
QGLWidget::initializeGL. I haven't been able to reproduce that condition with
any small programs trying to replicate the basic setup of the application, and
wondered if anybody else might have any idea how I could try to see what's
going on.

Bug#529560: xorg runs very slow on my laptop

2009-05-19 Thread Luo Yong
Package: xserver-xorg
Version: 1:7.4+1

Hello,

After I dist-upgrade my system, the xorg runs very slow on my HP6535s
laptop. It take a relative long time when refreshing the webpage and
the desktop itself than before and it cannot run almost all 2D games
now. The kernel version is: 2.6.29.3, and the lspci result related to
the video chipset is:

===
VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS780M/RS780MN [Radeon
HD 3200 Graphics]
===

and the content of my xorg.conf is:

===
Section Device
Identifier Configured Video Device
Driver ati
Option AccelMethod EXA
Option MigrationHeuristicgreedy
Option AccelDFS true
Option EnablePageFliptrue
Option EnableDepthMoves true
EndSection
===

It is said that ATI's proprietary video driver can runs without this
problem but I don't want to use it.

Thank you very much and best regards.
