Bug#564688: VIA VT8623 [Apollo CLE266]: Heavy TV flickering after upgrade

2010-01-18 Thread Torsten Crass

Hi there,

I understand the thread at http://www.openchrome.org/trac/ticket/342
suggests a fix for the TV flickering problem.
here's what you want :

svn co http://svn.openchrome.org/svn/trunk -r 786
cd trunk/
svn merge -c 789 http://svn.openchrome.org/svn/trunk
svn merge -c 803 http://svn.openchrome.org/svn/trunk
svn merge -c 808 http://svn.openchrome.org/svn/trunk
Any chance this is going to be integrated into
xserver-xorg-video-openchrome anytime soon?

Regards --

tcrass

Again I cannot terminate X server from the terminal where it was

It seems that xinit somehow magically kills the X server when it
receives sigint but the X server started by iself is unaffected.

Version 6.12.3-1 16-bit colour works correctly.

I think this is an X server issue. Are you using both driver versions
with the same xserver?

That would be the upgrade from server 1.6.x to 1.7.x then.

Cheers,
Julien

Sorry I should have said xserver 1.6 plus 6.12.3-1 is fine
xserver 1.7 plus 6.12.4-2 is not good for 16bit colour.

I have not tried 6.12.3-1 on server 1.7 as there are conflicts in
installing.

I did not change my xorg.conf (and Debian hopefully does not do that
behind my back anymore) so it must be the default and it is different
from what I get with the git snapshots.

Current upstream Git master branch uses EXA by default, but not the 6.12
branch. I doubt it was ever used by default in a Debian package, so
either you chose it explicitly or rotation happened to be usable without
rotation somehow.

No, I was running git snapshots because I was experiencing some issues
with the previous batch of 6.12 packages so that would be it.

Building a new snapshot against current X server resolved the problem.

Bug#565772: xterm: Incomplete redraw when showing alternate screen

2010-01-18 Thread Robert Ross
Package: xterm
Version: 253-1

Start xterm and type man xterm, Enter, and q. Then hold Ctrl and the
middle mouse button to show the VT Options menu and select Show Alternate
Screen. Only the area covered by the VT Options menu is redrawn instead of
the whole window.

I am using Ubuntu 9.04 (jaunty) with Linux kernel 2.6.28-17-generic and libc6
2.9-4ubuntu6.1 along with xterm_253-1_amd64.deb and
libutempter0_1.1.5-2_amd64.deb downloaded from the links at
http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/xterm;. Since my setup is out-of-scope,
feel free to ignore this bug if you cannot reproduce it.

Bug#565773: [xserver-xorg-video-intel] Segfaults when trying to lock screen

2010-01-18 Thread Jakob Lell

Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.9.1-2
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

The xserver crashes with a segmentation fault when trying to use the
lock screen functionality of gnome. This only occurs when using an
external monitor and the internal notebook display is turned off. It
doesn't happen when using the internal notebook display or both displays
simultaneously. I've attached an Xorg.log which contains a stack trace
of the crash.

I have turned off KMS (by adding i915 modeset=0 to my /etc/modules)
because the internal display of my Samsung X20 XVM 1730 IV notebook
otherwise stops working when loading the i915 module manually or during
xserver startup (and I didn't have the time to figure out whether this
can be fixed using some kernel parameters).

RE: Bug#533450: psb and iegd

2010-01-18 Thread Kushal Koolwal

My experience with iegd driver was exactly opposite with Debian Lenny. It won't
compile in the first place. May be I was using an older version of iegd driver?
However the psb sources from Ubuntu Jaunty always worked for me on Lenny,
Squeeze and Unstable with 3D working on Squeeze and Unstable.

A very disappointing scenario for Linux users.

Bug#564688: VIA VT8623 [Apollo CLE266]: Heavy TV flickering after upgrade

2010-01-18 Thread Raphael Geissert
2010/1/18 Torsten Crass torsten.cr...@ebiology.de:
Hi there,

I understand the thread at http://www.openchrome.org/trac/ticket/342
suggests a fix for the TV flickering problem.
[...]
Any chance this is going to be integrated into
xserver-xorg-video-openchrome anytime soon?

No, all they are telling you to do is go back to an older version and
merge a couple of changes needed to let it build with a recent X.org.

When it is fixed I'll update the package.

Cheers,
