Sometimes it dies at the login prompt of SDDM, sometimes shortly after. Xorg uses 100% CPU. Happens on my desktop (Intel Skylake) and my laptop (Intel Haswell) Happens with both Kernel 4.3.0 and Kernel 4.4.0 Happens with xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20160218-1, 2:2.99.917+git20160307-2 and without xserver-xorg-video-intel It looks like I can fix the issue by downgrading xserver-xorg-core to 2:1.18.1-1. Bug#675363: I had the same problem but it went away
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA256 Hi, I was having the same issues on my HD Graphics 5500, last seen on jessie with original kernel + backports xserver-xorg-video-intel. However since getting the backports kernel, too, this problem disapeared. It also did not reappear in stretch (testing at the time of writing) so far. Your report is quite old, can you verify it still exists? It is not just a minor annoyance: the flooding log messages are simultaneously written to /var/log/messages, /var/log/syslog and /var/log/user.log, not only thrashing the hard drive and slowing down the system, but also quickly growing to hundreds and thousands of megabytes in size, easily filling up a smaller hard drive within a short period of time. And it is not just going to affect a handful of users. I suppose that is why Fedora uploaded a fix within 32 hours of receiving the initial bug report. So, is a fix forthcoming, soon? If not, I am more than happy to make a NMU today. Many thanks, Anthony
