Hello,

This bug report is old, and Squeeze's kernel has evolved a lot since
then. I use Squeeze on this eeepc since a long time without big trouble.
I have always the problem of resolution with GDM when starting with both
LVDS and output VGA screens connected, but I can then login and select
with xrandr my output VGA screen with the right resolution.

Hello,

  I've installed Debian Squeeze (testing) on my Eeepc 1002HA, with KMS
enabled, and tried to work in my current configuration, with an
external monitor plugged. When the GDM portal arises, I get a screen
with the common resolution of the both screens, integrated and
external, which is only 640x480 ! Going to a console and trying to
change this with xrandr doesn't work : I tried :

# env DISPLAY=:0 XAUTHORITY=/var/lib/gdm/\:0.Xauth xrandr --output VGA1 -- auto

gives an X error and resolution doesn't change on external monitor.

Moreover, if I start only with integrated monitor (in 1024x600), login on my 
account and then plug my external monitor, I usually have a X freezed (with 
mouse cursor also frozen) ! The system is always running, but X is 
unkillable... Perhaps that the fact I'm using compiz has an impact on that.

I don't know how to workaround this, so for the moment, I've return to my 
previous Lenny install…

Bug#394060: Problem comes from xorg.xml ?

Hello,

  I've tried last xkeyboard-config 0.9-3 package (with a test patch to
add a new french Dvorak definition) on a fresh Etch installand I found
the same problem : gnome-keyboard-properties didn't show any keyboard
models nor possible layouts.

  The problem comes from  usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/xorg.xml which
contains  and  in descriptions, instead of lt; and gt;.

You can find at
http://fboiteux.free.fr/DvorakFr/Layout6.2.1.1/xkb/xorg.xml
a corrected file, and I join a patch if it can help, but I'm not sure,
as I think it's a generated file...
