RE: [Declude.JunkMail] OT DNS Server change

2005-03-17 Thread Danny K
How do you update the IP for the nameservers? There is not a box for the IP
address. Only a box to changes the dns server names.

I do log into the domain manager for the domain right?

Ahh...Network Solutions is (or at least used to be) one that cached the IP
address. So, you will need to go into Account Manager and update the IP
addresses for the nameservers. I definitely recommend changing one, waiting
24-48 hours for the changes to be recognized, then changing the other(s).

The domain in question is registered through Network Solutions.

Thanks Scott. I found a message about turning off all of Imail's spam
features and did so last night. The SMTP service has not stopped since I did
that. I don't know if that was the issue. I plan on upgrading to the latest
version tomorrow.

The latest interim is 1.79i16, and is available at
http://www.declude.com/version/interim .

The version of Declude should not affect this problem, however -- there
shouldn't be anything about Declude that could cause the SMTP service to
terminate like that.

Danny,

Did you move your Imail to a new computer when you upgraded. I had this
happen to us a while back with the 7.0 release of Imail. Finally called
IMail support and they checked some of my ip settings and found some
conflicts. They corrected them then and there and have had no problems
since.

Queue Manager is still on when the SMTP service stops.

Yes, I have SMTP service set to auto restart.

I'm watching Handles and Threads and it is staying around 230 Handles and 17
Threads. I will keep an eye on it and see if this is the average or if it
changes.

I am not the best at troubleshooting Imail, but here goes.

What does the Queue Manager service do?
Do you have the SMTP service set to auto restart by way of the services MMC?
Open Task manager and click on the processes tab. Then, click on View. Add
columns Thread count and Handle count.
With Task manager open, restart the SMTP service and watch the thread and
handle counts.

[Declude.JunkMail] OT: Deenesee DNS

2004-07-29 Thread Danny K
Anyone running Deenesse DNS software and add a TXT record for SPF? I don't
see an option to change a TXT.

I guess I could change the txt file itself and then restart?

[Declude.JunkMail] SPF Setup

2004-07-26 Thread Danny K
I just want to make sure I am doing this correctly.

I want to set this up for one domain now just to test. I have other virtual
servers on the same box. My clients can send email out of our normal IP
blocks by AUTH. I'm running IMail 8.05 and the latest release of Declude.

"v=spf1 mx ~all"

Is that correct?

TIA

Any ISP's recommend a good POP provider? Were thinking of switching from

If you could email me off list that would be great.

Thank you,

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Error in log and email

2004-07-09 Thread Danny K
I run a backup in the eraly morning hours only so this would not be the
problem as the errors are all day long. I checked and Symantec is not
scanning the spool directory.

I don't have f-prot running on the server other then what declude does with
it and I do not have Declude Hijack.

What about Diskkeeper? I do have the running.

Do you have backup software running on the server? Do you also have
Declude Hijack (in which case there is a chance that it could cause this
error, depending on several factors)? Are you positive that neither F-Prot
nor Symantec are scanning the \IMail\spool directory?

Scott is best to answer these sorts of questions, but I'm sure that you
would help him for you to describe the exact versions of all of the
software involved, in this case IMail, Declude and what virus scanners
that you have installed for Declude and also on your system.

My best guess would be that it appears that something is stealing
messages from Declude while they are being processed, and this is most
likely a real-time virus scanner that is looking over your spool. You
need to make sure that real-time virus scanners aren't set to scan your
E-mail directories including the spool and users. It's also possible
that IMail stole the message, but less likely.

Regarding the postmaster bounce, your server doesn't typically create
postmaster notifications for senders coming from other servers. It is
typically the sending server that handles the notification back to their
user, though it will often quote the SMTP response from your server that
was given during the session. You can most likely check your IMail log
and find the error that was given to the sending server.

Matt

I actually see quite a few of these errors now after looking around.
