RE: Re: [Declude.JunkMail] IP Blacklist

2005-10-12 Thread John T \(Lists\)
Well, the company is founded and/or run and/or owned by a gentleman that
hates spam and has put a lot of time and effort into creating
products/services to help out in the war on spam, especially for parents.

A couple of years ago, they created a product to work in conjunction with
Declude that actually did a good job, but because of economics, the product
never became widely used and was discontinued.

So, as for the company, they are a good company with real caring people
behind it.

As for the current services, I have not used or tried them so I can not say
anything about them.

If you use our list and purchase the MXRate server software, you can
also

Also, you can also have IPs tagged by what country they originate from

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] IP Blacklist Help

2005-08-10 Thread Matt

Don,

Maybe try looking in the log to see if there are any errors.  Check
your global.cfg for multiple test entries named BLACKIP.  Unless
something has changed, I don't believe the following lines are
appropriate for an ipfile:

    SKIPIFWEIGHT 30
    MAXWEIGHT 30
    STOPATFIRSTHIT

Maybe also remove the "#" following the CIDR range as this might be
causing a parsing error and it is not required.  Anything after the
IP/CIDR range and a space is treated as a comment.  Maybe shorten your
comments also to see if you can't isolate a condition that would cause
this to miss.

P.S. Please don't press Reply-All as that caused me to reply directly
to you before getting the copy that was sent to the list.

Matt

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] IP Blacklist

2005-08-09 Thread Chris Kuske

A shameless plug, but here goes since we have quite a few Declude users
now that we're on the default IP4r test list...

Check out MXRate, at http://www.mxrate.com

We have a public DNS test that outperforms SBL/Spamcop on a consistent
basis, and can also offer our list for subscription with hourly updates.

As an added bonus, we don't block entire subnets which gets other
blacklists in trouble (like SORBS, for example). We can provide Bind 9
zone files as well.

If you use our list and purchase the MXRate server software, you can
also customize the threshold for what IP address is returned when
queried (127.0.0.2 .3 .4 etc).

Also, you can also have IPs tagged by what country they originate from
which is useful if you only want to get email from the US for example.

Yep, we renamed SenderDB to MXRate as it is more descriptive of what the

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Ip blacklist file

2004-09-29 Thread R. Scott Perry

Anyway, I would like to add the IP addresses of hotmail, etc. so
that if a message comes through from the hotmail servers, I don't
inadvertently block it.
Can I just add a '#' before the IP address to 'rem' it out and
Declude won't block it?
That will work fine -- in that case, Declude JunkMail will ignore the line,
so any E-mail from that IP won't fail the test.

Re: [Declude.JunkMail] IP Blacklist txt file

2002-04-20 Thread R. Scott Perry

Is it possible to put a subnet in the ip-blacklist
so i can cover a range of ip's instead of each ip
on the subnet... this would make an extreamly huge file
and not telling how much cpu time to scan the file
each time a piece of mail came through.

v1.46 allows for CIDR ranges to be indicated in the blacklist files
(although the feature is in beta). To do this, just use the IP with the
CIDR range in the standard format. For example:

 192.168.0.0/16 Local addresses are blacklisted
 10.0.0.0/8 10.x.x.x addresses get blacklisted
244.24.14.0/24 This class C range is banned

This also works for IP ranges that are whitelisted (WHITELIST IP).

RE: [Declude.JunkMail] IP Blacklist

2002-03-25 Thread Rusty Nations

Sorry to just jump in on this, but this raises a question:

If I block 192.168.212.2 specifically, then based on your answer, would it
not then block .200 through .255 as well? Same if I blocked .21, then
.210-.219 would also get snagged, .1 would block the 100s, you get the idea.

Now being that this is a blacklist issue, this may be a little anal, after
all, if there is a bad boy in a class C, then the entire block is probably
bad as well.

Is the IP Blacklist intended to be one ip per line or can we specify a
range or a C block, for intance?

It currently works by looking for a partial match. That means that if you
were to enter 192.168.212., it would blacklist the entire Class C range
of 192.168.212.0 through 192.168.212.255.

Note that you can not use any extra characters in there (no * or
/). We may be adding CIDR support later, however, to make it more robust.
