Re: [Declude.Virus] IpSwitch Collaboration Suite Yearly renewal costs up to $4995 per server per year
Have you been hiding for the last couple of weeks? :-) Ipswitch first stood firm and refused to budge, then backpedaled when they realized how pissed everyone was. Now they say they will sell SA's for a mere $695 to existing users now. Such a deal. They might sell an Imail upgrade to someone who has Standard. Case-by-case. They want everyone to upgrade to ICS. The line looks pretty short. A significant portion of the Imail community is jumping ship, either out of protest over the pricing or a lack of trust in the company. Some are staying either as the path of least resistance or they are comfortable with the new pricing. New purchasers are buying other products (SmarterMail and Merak in that order seem to be the preference, with a few renegades going Linux/Postfix). Me I thought I was going to Merak but now I've gotten my current client to change his buy to SmarterMail. Heck an unlimited domain version is $199 via reseller so why not give it a shot. Unconfirmed rumors abound of a Declude product that works on SmarterMail. Re: [Declude.Virus] Scott, what is our future?
The part where it isn't an overreaction is for folks who are actively buying new products. I've got one purchase certain within the next several days and another likely in the next 60. I figure that barring any catastrophic exploits showing up that Ipswitch won't patch, I've got a year or two with my own Imail 8.11. Anyone got any opinions on MailEnable? Their pricing looks good and so does the product. I've been leaning way over in the direction of Merak but this makes me real curious. Anyone run it under load? -- --Matt Robertson-- President, Janitor MSB Designs, Inc. mysecretbase.com --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] --- This E-mail came from the Declude.Virus mailing list. Re: [Declude.Virus] OT: F prot as a desktop scanner
I've used it for a couple of years with no problems. It has a smaller footprint in memory than Norton, for sure. Found that real handy with some older systems. Then there's the price difference, and the fact that you can set updates to hourly, or pull them off your local network. I like to set up a thing where I have a script on one system pull the updates from F-Prot's ftp servers and store them on a shared drive. Then all systems update themselves hourly from the network file. Keeps me from getting a bottleneck if 50 machines check for updates all at once. -- --Matt Robertson-- MSB Designs, Inc. mysecretbase.com --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] --- This E-mail came from the Declude.Virus mailing list. Re: [Declude.Virus] Changing to F-prot good or bad?
Good idea. No problems with F-Prot over the last 2 yrs. Low resource usage. new def checks can be run as frequently as hourly if you like. -- --Matt Robertson-- MSB Designs, Inc. --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses by Declude Virus (http://www.declude.com)] --- This E-mail came from the Declude.Virus mailing list.
