[Declude.Virus] Problem after upgrade to Declude 4.3.23

2006-12-17 Thread Wolf Tombe
I have finally made the move and upgraded Declude to version 4.3.23 (from
version 3.1) but I'm now having trouble getting it to run. I've used my
"product Key" listed on my account area of the Declude website for version
4.x; but the Declude process will not start and continually responds with
the error "FATAL ERROR: Product license key not in configuration INVALID
KEY".

I've doubled checked the product key and it appears correct. I've checked
the Declude Support and on-line help areas but nothings references this
error. Has anyone else have this problem when upgrading?

RE: [Declude.Virus] Problem after upgrade to Declude 4.3.23

2006-12-18 Thread Wolf Tombe
Yes I did. However, you got me thinking and I decided to try moving the
Declude.cfg (and other cfg files) from the "resources" folder to the Declude
root directory. As soon as I did everything started working just fine.
Thanks!

Did you put it into the Declude.cfg file?

[Declude.Virus] Clam AV vs. AVG vs. McAfee

2007-03-06 Thread Wolf Tombe
The discussion on the current version of Clam AV and Clam being able to
detect some image spam got me thinking. Prior to Declude version 4.0, I
always used McAfee AV to scan all incoming messages. When I upgraded to
Declude 4 I decided to try it's built in AV which seems to work fine. I'm
curious though as to the opinions of others on this list as to the merits of
using Clam or other anti-virus scanners either in place of the Declude built
in AV or in addition to it.

Any opinions people would like to share will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: [Declude.Virus] McAfee VScan 8

2004-09-03 Thread Wolf Tombe
Version 8 has extremely limited user functionality (far less
than version 7 had). For example, you cannot exclude
directories or applications from being scanned. And, if the
virus scanner spots something "suspicious" even though
clearly NOT a virus it stops all process of the application
in question until a user manually clicks a little pop-up
window saying its okay to proceed.

It may be okay for an average user PC but should NOT be used
on servers or power userâs or developerâs workstations.
There are several discussions on McAfeeâs support forums with
people upset with the reduction of the feature set and
reduced functionality.

Frankly, I dumping my copies (even those on my workstations
and PCs) and going back to Version 7.1. Just my 2 cents.

Very good Point about the enterprise version! I just say the
subject line which indicated "McAfee VScan 8" and immediately
reacted with a warning since I've had several pretty
significant problems with it do to it's limitations.
