RE: [Declude.Virus] MISSING_REVERSE_DNS:Neshield

2001-10-14 Thread Craig Gittens

If i were you on such a low power box, I would download 1.27 beta and let it
do the prescan to save resources. I send out a mailall to 13000 addresses on
my dual PIII850MHz box with 512MB RAM and it kills it with virus scanning
enabled. Disabled, it hardly touches it.

Craig.

OK, I think I found out what was wrong
you have to stop and restart the netshieldd service for the exclusions to
take effect
seems strange, but now it is working
still pop3 is much slower, does netshield monitor the memory swap file ? can
this be the problem ?
guess I need a new server with 2x1GHz cpus !!!

Thanks all
have a great week end!

2001-10-12 Thread Jeff Pitoniak

According to McAfee's Getting Started Guide for NetShield 4.5 page 53 item
11, the pagefile.sys is automatically excluded as NetShield cannot open the
pagefile to begin with.

I have my entire IMAIL directory excluded, with the option to include
subfolders checked.

It's working fine for me.

Does NetShield have an option 'include subdirectories' or something like
that? It may be that it is not scanning the spool directory, but is
scanning subdirectories below it (where Declude stores the temporary files).
