Do you have the Blender source file available? I'd love to see
inside of it.

I see you also got some feedback on the blenderartists.org forum about
the key and making it more realistic (if you go on the realistic route,
it may need some additional details).

You should take care about the colors of the Fedora logo, the shades of
blue are supposed to be like
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Logo/UsageGuidelines#Color_Palette This
may require an alteration of the background color for better visibility.

"This may require an alteration of the background color for better

This is true and this is the reason to chosse this colors .
The effect of light change final render.
The background have same colors like blue on logo.
On the render is more darkness and logo have more light.
If set the corect colors ( #294172 ...) the result is not the same .
I want less the detail ok key , because i want fedora logo "take attention
of eye.
After i see feedback from blenderartist.org i make the key

I don't make 3D so realistic enough to be tiring for user.
This is 3d key (http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/thumb_292/121679654857B4xg.jpg)

is to realistic for this wallpaper.
So i think is "no realistic route" on this time.
You make try this , the blend file is on blenderartist.org and post it.

Hello, I was never able to manage to design something 3D with blender.

Could you design me the fedora logo on a chip ? :)
something similar to http://www.promwad.com/images/stories/services/fpga.jpg

This is as simple as this: the logo is a Trade Mark. Changing the colors

Could you run that by the logo guidelines,

I am not an expert in this matter, so my interpretation may be stupid:
if print the Fedora logo on a T-shirt, wear it and take a photo of me
wearing it, of course the it will be skewed, since the shirt takes the
shape of my body and i stay to a certain angle from the camera for good
photography. And that is not against the guidelines.

Is not the same with the chip? The logo is printed normally on the chip
(supposedly a physical object), which is then viewed from an angle.

Actually, skewed isn't the concern here.
Whatever the outcome is, it should satisfy: "credit goes to Fedora".

"Changing the colors is NOT allowed."
It's true :)
If you use inkscape or web dessign is ok to use exact colors because you see
the same colors .
I use color management to provide better color fidelity with fedora logo.
But in 3D the colors is change because is light and more...On web dessign
some colors is *not safest* for the same reason - rendering.

I think "web safe colors" is a thing of the past, from the age when

The FC6 wallpaper (created mostly with Blender) was made before we had
logo guidelines, so it is wrong in *many* ways, but I think it dows a

The logo is a logo , any wallpaper with logo is not official logo.
The logo from 3d wallpaper is not the same with the original logo ( is logic

Is not place for 3D on fedora artwork?!

Re: [Design-team] TASK FEDORA SECURITY SPIN

2009-06-08 Thread Joost Elfering
guidelines are their for a reason.

the general idea of the guidelines is to preserve the general image of
fedora and it's artwork. if any artwork is made by and for fedora this image
needs to be maintained. thus the guidelines must be kept. I have worked a
lot with company logo's and the guidelines that come with them. all the
guidelines set by fedora are reasonable and are in place to keep the general
image of fedora smooth and the same.

if you want to create your own fan based art it is not a problem to change
the rules a bit. but do not publish it as something official as it does not
fit the rest of the artwork. i do not want to say that your wallpaper looks
bad, because it does not look bad on it's own. the problem is that it does
not fit all the other usage of the logo.

i hope you understand the issue that is given here.

yope out.

2009-06-08 Thread María Leandro
Hi

I took the idea of Cata and try to do something similar following the
guidelines (I think).

Here are the .jpg and the .blend file
