[Bug 51169] Error in ssh:// protocol handler.

2006-06-28 Thread EvanCarroll
Public bug reported:

In the event you get files by using an ssh://[EMAIL PROTECTED] URI, you
will find that if the servers rsa key changes on the remote machine,
rather than giving the user the typical console caveat about the man-in-
the-middle attack, it fails, claiming:

The rsa key easily change, as in the event of a live cd lab, in which
they are constantly in flux.

--START DIALOG BOX
Nautilus cannot display
ssh://[uri location]

Please select another viewer and try again.
--END DIALOG BOX

A remedy is of coarse to delete the coresponding ~/.ssh/known_hosts
file, but the dialog box should be more informative of the error at
hand.

The typical console caveat is include for reference:

[Bug 15413] Re: ip neigh flush dev eth0 is hanging

2006-06-28 Thread Herbert Straub
No, i think it is not - maybe partly :-).

A ip neigh flush dev eth0 returns
*** Flush is not complete after 10 rounds ***
and echo $? is 1! I think 0 is no error?

In Fedora and Suse the CONFIG_ATM and CONFIG_ATM_CLIP are modules. In
Debian and Ubuntu this two are fix compiled into the kernel. I think, if
this two components compiled as modules, then the ip neigh flush dev
eth0 command returns 0 - also on Debian and Ubuntu - not only on Fedora
and Suse ;-)

[Bug 51122] intergrate other email clients

2006-06-28 Thread John Vivirito
Public bug reported:

is there a way to intergrate the main email clients users use into
bugbuddy. not everyone knows how to use or set up sendmail. I think it
would be nice if the 2 main clients could be used to send bug reports
like thunderbird and evolution. is this something that is even possible?
im thinking of new users that find bugs or when an app crashes they have
no idea what to do atleast if it gives them a choice at the end to send
with evolution/thunderbird/postfix/send mail that would help in the
backtrace being posted without them having to worry about saving it and
pasting it.

2006-06-28 Thread Emmanuel Touzery
assigning to package bug-buddy.
i think that the plan for future versions of bug-buddy is to send bug reports
using the webservice (SOAP) bindings of bugzilla, so in that case no email

[Bug 51182] Evolution now crashes on startup after accepting June28 gtk2 updates

2006-06-28 Thread Andy Brook
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution has been running fine since install, but now crashes every
time at startup. The only thing done differently was to accept some
updates, these are the packages that came in today:

libgtk2.0-0_2.8.18-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb
libgtk2.0-bin_2.8.18-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb
libgtk2.0-common_2.8.18-0ubuntu2_all.deb
gtk2-engines-pixbuf_2.8.18-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb

A collegeue suggested it was related to the theme, I reset to Ubuntu
default with no difference.

Another dapper machine that hasn't had (and doesnt seem to need) these
patches continues to run ok.

[Bug 51182] Evolution now crashes on startup due to a meeting request

2006-06-28 Thread Andy Brook

Strangely, it now happens to the machine that didnt have the patches, and it
only happens when loading the inbox. I thought this was related to an email,
and delete one by one todays mail. It turned out it was a meeting request,
whic is wierd, because I've been using it to do this for some time (as an
outlook client).

Then I clicked eject on the CD icon. (right click ...)

A dialog appeared saying that the data is beong written to the CD and

[Bug 51128] Re: Launching bug-buddy from the menu fails

2006-06-28 Thread Vassilis Pandis
I can confirm this. In the .desktop file, I see the following:

Exec=gnome-open https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+filebug

IMVHO, this is not expected. People that want to file a bug can visit
the site on their own. People who want to use bug-buddy to assist them
through the process should be able to launch it from the menu. After
all, it isn't even bug buddy if it doesn't invoke bug buddy and
invokes a link.

Two entries can be inserted in the menu. A Report a bug entry (which
existed under Help during the development stages of Dapper IIRC) which
will open the Launchpad website and a Bug Buddy entry that will
actually invoke bug-buddy.

[Bug 46169] Re: Modem monitor - inadequate status feedback

There wasn't anything that looked useful in /var/log/syslog.

My parents now have the computer, and they have noticed the problem on
several occasions. The workaround is to do a re-boot.

Either way, some extra information in the dialog would provide some much
needed feedback to the user not only that something is happening, but
what is happening.

startup (I can see 2 Fetch Mail... strings on the bottom of the

My theory is that maybe only 2 accounts are checked at startup and not

there's something wicked going on.

[Bug 51228] windows fail to respect panel boundaries with second screen 'above'

2006-06-28 Thread Matthew Carroll
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

I am running a dual screens using Xinerama and the vga output from my
laptop. When I have the second screen set to the right of my laptop's
built in screen, as follows, maximised windows correctly respect the
boundaries of any panels I have on either screen:

Section ServerLayout
...
Screen Second Screen RightOf Default Screen
...
EndSection

However, when I change this to:

Screen Second Screen Above Default Screen

...any panels at the joining edge of each screen (the top edge of
'Default Screen' and the bottom edge of 'Second Screen') fail to be
respected by maximised / moved windows. maximised windows maximise to
fill the space behind the panel, and moved windows do not experience the
usual resistance effect when passing the panel boundary.

I have posted screenshots of the effect and my xorg.conf here:

http://carroll.org.uk/files/x11-above-bug/

Please email me if you need any more info, and accept my appologies if
this is filed against the wrong package. I suspect it's gnome, but I'm
really not sure what part deals with all that window behaviour.

Good luck

[Bug 51233] gdm fails to create session

2006-06-28 Thread batkins
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

After upgrading to Dapper from Breezy, GDM gives me an error message
(see below) when I attempt to log in and refuses to start gnome-session.
I can only log into the xterm failsafe session. Once in the failsafe
session, I can run gnome-session from this failsafe xterm to get a
working GNOME environment, but GDM can't seem to do it on its own.

This problem happens with freshly-created users with blank home
directories. It also happens on a completely different machine - I also
upgraded my Thinkpad to Dapper from Breezy and it has exactly the same
issue.

I've tried reinstalling gnome, gnome-session, and gdm. Again, even
brand-new users can't get into gdm, so this leads me to believe the
problem is not in my personal configuration of GNOME. I've also tried
deleting .gnome2/session and .ICEAuthority, and trying to log in with a
new user with a completely blank home directory. No dice.

Here is the message I get when logging into a regular GNOME session:

I could not start your session and so I have started the failsafe xterm
session. Windows have focus only if you have your cursor above them. To
get out of this mode type 'exit' in the window in the upper left corner.

Here is the contents of .xsession-errors:

/etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: Registering your session with wtmp and utmp
/etc/gdm/PreSession/Default: running: /usr/bin/sessreg -a -w /var/log/wtmp -u
/var/run/utmp -x /var/lib/gdm/:0.Xservers -h -l :0 bill

Whenever a new window pops up on Dapper, metacity assigns the focus to
it. This is bad behaviour. While Dapper solved the problem for some
password entries, it remains that whenever typing in a terminal or text

will end up. For example, I could by typing my ssh password in a

[Bug 39467] Re: unknown keyboard language when unlocking screen

I use English and Russian layouts, and separate layout for separate

on when my computer locks the screen even if I don't go for a coffee
break. Since there is no indication of the active layout whatsoever in
the unlock window, unlocking becomes a trial-and-error experience.

And there are people who have more than one keyboard layout, and they,
