[Bug 44196] Re: gnome-cups-icon uses 100% CPU

2006-07-10 Thread Prizrak
I discovered some more info on this. It seems that the manager only
hangs when the auto detect fails. I tried two printers on the desktop
and one was an HP that got picked up right away and another was a
Lexmark that was not detected, it only hung when it couldn't detect the
printer.

[Bug 50173] Re: Aisleriot solitare crashes when choosing new game from Select Game

2006-07-10 Thread RichardRothwell
Hi,
Just installed 6.06 and Aisleriot didn't work. Reinstalled gnome-games from

I found this stand and applied the #t patch - and thank you it now
works, but I thought you ought to know this was still required on gnome-
games 2.15.1

2006-07-10 Thread Prizrak
Since I can't edit (and was sure the following info was already in

described when adding a printer on both my desktop and laptop machines
with Dapper 6.06 installed. System monitor doesn't show g-c-i taking up
all of the CPU however the CPU is fully utilized and the only cups
related service shown is g-c-i. Behavior is only exhibited while
attempting to add a printer.

had this with xfree. The problem is that xorg is not smart enough to

[Bug 40176] Re: ubuntu flight 6 will not boot into gnome

2006-07-10 Thread samdehaeck
Hello,

I would like to update the previous comment; On turning the volume to the
maximum I did hear a sound, also for startup.wav BUT comparing the sounds I
heard with the real sounds on a working computer I noticed that they are quite
different.
In a way, what I hear is the first 0,5 second of the tune played twice
successively, after which the sound stops AND aplay doest not exit! I have to
kill it manually. This explains of course why the aplay processes are still
running after gdm boots gnome and switching this option off in gdm, results in
the same behaviour for gdm as for kdm and xdm.
I also tried helixplayer to play a song and here I observed the same behaviour.
Pressing play only plays the first 0,5 second twice after which it stopped
playing. Pulling the time slider forward, plays the sound for that second twice
after which it stopped again.

Hopefully this behaviour makes perfect sense to anyone,
Sam.

2006-07-10 Thread Sean Farrell
If you add your nis user to the admin group in etc /etc/group then it
works. (At least for me.) I added the nis user(s) to all groups the
initial user was added. I have seen a bug report that it dose not work
with the admin group over the network, I can nither confirm nor deny
that case. With local system groups and remote users it works.

On a side note I keep the initial user as administrator in case of
network failure. That is way safer than using the real root.

[Bug 52508] The whole system freeze if I scroll up/down using the bar

2006-07-10 Thread damagedspline
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: abiword

I used ubuntu dapper 6.06 when it started to happen. Later on I switched
to Xubuntu, but the problem remained...

steps to failure:
I opened a Doc file, tried scrolling using the mouse scroll - went ok. I tried
scrolling the document down using the bar, and the whole system freezes. aMule
also made the whole system freeze in ubuntu, but after the switch to Xubuntu it
stopped doing that...

for my bad part i can say i experimented with air-core but removed all
refernces i made to air-core after i found out that things dont work
right.

i am currently running a xorg.conf file that originaly created by
dexconf (so i dont think it's related to x).

[Bug 10669] Re: Filters are not applied to new mail on Exchange

2006-07-10 Thread Johan Walles
I haven't seen any filter triggering automatically on incoming mail. I
have five filters in place for my incoming mail. None of them seem to
trigger.

When I run them manually after having received e-mail, all of them seem
to work as expected.

The first filter rule out of the five non-triggering ones is:

Name: Johans CRar
If any of the following conditions are met:
Specific header X-WebClarify-Owner contains walles
Specific header X-WebClarify-Owner: contains walles
Specific header X-WebClarify-Owner: contains walles
Then:
Assign color [green].

I used three different queries for the e-mail header name since it's not
obvious to me how I should specify a header for it to match. At least
one of them is correct, since the filter works if I run it manually on
the inbox.

[Bug 52531] left click on CPU monitor moves panel

2006-07-10 Thread Jörg Höhle
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

Hi,

When installed in the top panel, a left click on the CPU frequency
scaling monitor causes weird behaviour of the Gnome GUI.

Sometimes, the panels, e.g. the application menu won't react anymore.

Every time, when moving the mouse to the bottom panel after the left click, the
top panel suddenly appears bottommost (and disappears from top).
This happens even when clicking other things (e.g. some windows) and typing to
a terminal window in between! Moving the panel happens as soon as the mouse
enters the bottom panel area, and is not reverted when moving the mouse back to
the top.
Unlike an explicit move panel action (via left click on the free area of a
panel), the mouse cursor does not switch to a grabbing hand.

Using gnome-applets(-data) 2.14.2-0ubuntu1 in Dapper/6.06
on a Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook C1110 laptop.

$ ls -al /usr/bin/cpufreq-selector
 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 15688 2006-06-15 17:38 /usr/bin/cpufreq-selector
$ cpufreq-selector --help
You must be root
$ LANG=C man cpufreq-selector
No manual entry for cpufreq-selector
See 'man 7 undocumented' for help when manual pages are not available.

BTW, I think the inavailability of manpages to programs that appear in
ps -ef is also a bug.

Hello Diego,

Thanks for your patch and sorry for not answering earlier. I already
fixed this in my local branch. Furthermore I think it is better to show
a text There are no matching packages instead of an empty page.

Waiting for mvo to merge and upload.

Regards,

Sebastian

[Bug 50485] Re: New tabs do not run command as a login shell

2006-07-10 Thread John Florian
Problem solved and not a bug with gnome-terminal. My ~/.bash_profile
had:

[ -r .bashrc ] source .bashrc

But, if I've moved out of my $HOME in the first tab, the above would
fail to source .bashrc. I resolved the issue by changing to:

[Bug 52473] Re: Extract Here context command in nautilus extracts archive in archivename_FILES directory rather than current directory

The real solution to that problem would be to select the extracted

[Bug 52569] Incorrect background transparency

2006-07-10 Thread Sebastian Breier
Public bug reported:

Sometimes the background gets drawn incorrectly when using the transparent
background option in effects.

I should note that I'm using a cronjob to change my desktop wallpaper every 10
minutes - I have not yet checked if stopping that prevents the problem, but it
doesn't fix it either.

Regular xchat had no problem with that, and I guess the transparency effect is
supposed to work correctly. :-)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Use xchat-gnome for some time

Actual results:
The background transparency shows a broken background.

Expected results:
The desktop background should correctly show through the xchat window.

Does this happen every time?
Only sometimes; Can't really determine when.

[Bug 52200] Re: Can't start programs after resume from suspend/hibernate

2006-07-10 Thread Sebastian Breier
Thanks for replying. :)

Yes, I've seen the behavior you describe, setting the time then having
the screensaver automatically activate... however, I haven't seen any
timing problems so far. Or maybe I'm just too slow because getting the
time/date immediately after resuming isn't that easy.

As I already said, running applications by hand doesn't make any
difference... the apps start normally, no errors or special messages,
they just don't show their window. But I did just notice that python
apps run just fine even if gnome apps don't start... I'll check if
there's any difference between console, X11 and gnome apps the next time
it happens.

[Bug 52579] Rhythmbox plays only one song, then produces obscure error message

2006-07-10 Thread Oliver M. Haynold
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

When I use Rythmbox, the first song gets played fine. For every
subsequent song, Rhythmbox tries to play the song, encounters an error,
shows the error icon in the song list, and tries to play the next song,

I start a new instance of Rhythmbox, I can play another song. This
happens with both the esdsink and the alsasink audio sinks.

[Bug 49619] Re: search replace all doesn't, if there's a selection

2006-07-10 Thread Shish
2.4.4 on dapper. More testing shows it to be seemingly random; I type
foo foo foo, go edit - replace, replace foo with bar, hit
replace all and it works. I then go edit-undo so they're all back to
foo, hit replace all, and then only the first and third change but
the middle foo is still foo. Then I go edit-undo, and hit replace all
again, this time only the first changes. Undo that, replace all, and all
three change.

This pattern of all three changing, first and third changing, only first
changing, all changing again seems to continue.
