[Bug 40176] Re: ubuntu flight 6 will not boot into gnome
Hello, I would like to update the previous comment; On turning the volume to the maximum I did hear a sound, also for startup.wav BUT comparing the sounds I heard with the real sounds on a working computer I noticed that they are quite different. In a way, what I hear is the first 0,5 second of the tune played twice successively, after which the sound stops AND aplay doest not exit! I have to kill it manually. This explains of course why the aplay processes are still running after gdm boots gnome and switching this option off in gdm, results in the same behaviour for gdm as for kdm and xdm. I also tried helixplayer to play a song and here I observed the same behaviour. Pressing play only plays the first 0,5 second twice after which it stopped playing. Pulling the time slider forward, plays the sound for that second twice after which it stopped again. Hopefully this behaviour makes perfect sense to anyone, Sam. -- ubuntu flight 6 will not boot into gnome https://launchpad.net/bugs/40176 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 52531] left click on CPU monitor moves panel
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets Hi, When installed in the top panel, a left click on the CPU frequency scaling monitor causes weird behaviour of the Gnome GUI. Sometimes, the panels, e.g. the application menu won't react anymore. Every time, when moving the mouse to the bottom panel after the left click, the top panel suddenly appears bottommost (and disappears from top). This happens even when clicking other things (e.g. some windows) and typing to a terminal window in between! Moving the panel happens as soon as the mouse enters the bottom panel area, and is not reverted when moving the mouse back to the top. Unlike an explicit move panel action (via left click on the free area of a panel), the mouse cursor does not switch to a grabbing hand. [Bug 52569] Incorrect background transparency
Public bug reported: Sometimes the background gets drawn incorrectly when using the transparent background option in effects. I should note that I'm using a cronjob to change my desktop wallpaper every 10 minutes - I have not yet checked if stopping that prevents the problem, but it doesn't fix it either. Regular xchat had no problem with that, and I guess the transparency effect is supposed to work correctly. :-) Steps to reproduce: 1. Use xchat-gnome for some time Actual results: The background transparency shows a broken background. Expected results: The desktop background should correctly show through the xchat window. Does this happen every time? Only sometimes; Can't really determine when. ** Affects: xchat-gnome (upstream) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Affects: xchat-gnome (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #347130 http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347130 ** Also affects: xchat-gnome (upstream) via http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347130 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Attachment added: Screenshot showing the weird transparency behavior http://librarian.launchpad.net/3328716/Screenshot.png -- Incorrect background transparency https://launchpad.net/bugs/52569 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 52200] Re: Can't start programs after resume from suspend/hibernate
Thanks for replying. :) Yes, I've seen the behavior you describe, setting the time then having the screensaver automatically activate... however, I haven't seen any timing problems so far. Or maybe I'm just too slow because getting the time/date immediately after resuming isn't that easy. As I already said, running applications by hand doesn't make any difference... the apps start normally, no errors or special messages, they just don't show their window. But I did just notice that python apps run just fine even if gnome apps don't start... I'll check if there's any difference between console, X11 and gnome apps the next time it happens. -- Can't start programs after resume from suspend/hibernate https://launchpad.net/bugs/52200 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 52579] Rhythmbox plays only one song, then produces obscure error message
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox When I use Rythmbox, the first song gets played fine. [Bug 49619] Re: search replace all doesn't, if there's a selection
2.4.4 on dapper. More testing shows it to be seemingly random; I type foo foo foo, go edit - replace, replace foo with bar, hit replace all and it works. I then go edit-undo so they're all back to foo, hit replace all, and then only the first and third change but the middle foo is still foo. Then I go edit-undo, and hit replace all again, this time only the first changes. Undo that, replace all, and all three change.
