[Bug 55260] Re: Auto-hidden panel fails to hide after losing focus
After some more searching I have found Bug #54777 reporting identical behavior with some other applets as well. #54777 is yet uncomfirmed even though this is a very old bug, going back to Gnome 2.2 as far as I remember! [Bug 55260] Auto-hidden panel fails to hide after losing focus
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel I don't know whether this is really the gnome-panel or trashapplet bug, but I guess it's panel's responsibility to behave nicely against mouse motion. Auto-hidden panel fails to hide after the Trash Applet's pop-up menu is displayed. [Bug 48226] Re: auto-hidden panel sometime jumps to the top of the screen
I can confirm the issue stated here. I use a panel on the right side of the screen and it sometimes moves off to the left after the pointer leaves it "too fast" (definition needed here). It's easy to reproduce by setting "[un]hide delay" properties to 0 and then rotating your mouse against the edge of the screen where the panel is hidden, making it show up and go back in quick succession. Panel's "position" property remains unchanged though. -- auto-hidden panel sometime jumps to the top of the screen https://launchpad.net/bugs/48226 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I can confirm that serpentine has this behavior and that it is infact very confusing. The information is given by hal as volume.disk.capacity. [Bug 53984] hal cannot obtain list of devices
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hal On my Fujitsu P7010, it regularly (but unpredictably) happens that hal fails to obtain the "list of devices". I notice this because networkmanager stops working correctly and the machine does not want to go to sleep anymore (neither by closing the lid nor by doing it manually: since hal cannot figure out whether my machine can sleep, the option disappears from the "quit" dialog). When this situation occurs, a "lshal" gives me no output but a single error message, stating that it cannot obtain the list of devices. To make this even more bizarre: _sometimes_, after a while, "lshal" responds with the device list again, after which the whole system works again as normal. It happens more often, though, that I have to reboot the machine to get it back to a usable state. I _really_ would like to get this fixed, and am willing to do debugging on this side, but I have no idea where to start. Can someone please give me a hand? ** Affects: hal (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- hal cannot obtain list of devices https://launchpad.net/bugs/53984 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 55228] Serpentine does not autoset disc capacity, no warning
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: serpentine Several times now I've been caught out when burning audio CDs with serpentine. It does not set it's disc capacity setting automatically to match the disc that is inserted, but it also does not provide any warning or indication that the user should set this manually. The setting is right there on the front of the GUI, but there's nothing saying I should set it myself, and I don't expect to have to, so I don't notice it. If you burn an audio CD with the disc capacity set wrong in Serpentine, it fails. It makes a coaster. Doesn't play in either hifi or computer. Worse, it took me several attempted burns, and attempting to use Gnomebaker instead, before I realised what was happening. If Serpentine cannot autodetect the disc capacity (you'd think this would be straightforward?) then it should at least provide some warning or indication to the user, or they'll probably find themselves creating coasters and becoming very confused. I think this is a pretty bad usability issue. ** Affects: serpentine (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Serpentine does not autoset disc capacity, no warning https://launchpad.net/bugs/55228 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
