[Bug 59129] Re: not using libgnomeprint[ui]?
But evince and (for example) gedit are using the same version of libgtk (libgtk2.0-0 2.10.2-0ubuntu) yet have different print dialogs and gedit still links to libgnomeprint[ui} and has a Create a PDF Document option which evince doesn't have. I don't suppose I really much care about why the dialogs look different as much as I care that evince doesn't have a "Print to PDF" option (yet most other gnome applications do). -- not using libgnomeprint[ui]? https://launchpad.net/bugs/59129 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 59129] Re: not using libgnomeprint[ui]?
GTK 2.10 has merged the libgnomeprint stuff into GTK itself. [Bug 56352] Re: Unlock dialog no longer pays attention to keypresses before it appears
On a related note, the focus is also lost when you get "Denied". So if you mistype your password and start typing it in again, typically the start of the password will be lost because the screensaver is doing random "denied" gyrations (bug #44263) instead of paying attention to the keyboard ... and you will be denied again! This is frustrating. Coincidentally, bug #37913 is vaguely at odds with this one; the reporter apparently finds it mildly confusing that the first, focus- grabbing keypress is entered into the password entry field too. -- Unlock dialog no longer pays attention to keypresses before it appears https://launchpad.net/bugs/56352 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 33331] Re: moving the clock 1 h forward starts the screensaver
In xscreensaver, this bug has existed like forever. I used to see it a lot when my laptop's CMOS battery was failing and I had to tweak the time by hand every time I rebooted. [Bug 59129] not using libgnomeprint[ui]?
Public bug reported: In Edgy, I opened a PS document with evince with the hope to print (IOW: convert) to PDF and found that the print dialog is not the same as most other gnome apps. It doesn't look like gnome-print (libgnomeprint[ui] that is). So, I used ldd to see what libs evince (0.6.0 btw) depends on and lo- and-behold, no libgnomeprint[ui]. [Bug 59128] Desktop User Guide -> Nautilus File Manager -> Writing CDs or DVDs: some poor wording / grammar problems
Public bug reported: The guide reads "Writing a CD or DVD is a good method of backup up your important documents". This is gramatically incorrect. It might be easier to read *and gramatically correct* if it read "Writing a CD or DVD may be useful for backing up your important documents". I hate to report such a silly bug in this way; I'd rather get straight to the source and fix it / submit a patch / whatever. If you could point me in the right direction, I could take the appropriate steps and save time for you (the triager, etc). Is Rosetta the place for submitting fixes to such language issues? I snooped around there a little bit and saw no obvious way to submit such a change. It'd be great if there were a quick-n-easy way to chain up to the source and submit a "patch" directly to upstream... and there probably is a way to do this, but I'm not sure how. :) ** Affects: gnome2-user-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Desktop User Guide -> Nautilus File Manager -> Writing CDs or DVDs: some poor wording / grammar problems https://launchpad.net/bugs/59128 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 39465] Re: Samsung ML-1740 Not Listed
Moving to foomatic-db At first, if a printer is not listed in the gnome-cups-manager or any other printer setup tool, this is caused by the printer not being in the foomatic-db package on your installed system. Look up the printer on linuxprinting.org to see whether it is already added upstream. I have added this printer and other Samsung laser printers today. I also added the new SPL2 driver "splix" to the database. To fix this problem in Ubuntu it is only needed to update foomatic-db to the current snapshot and to add the "splix" driver. [Bug 41170] Re: The typical user will not know how to "make some free disk space" when he cannot log into a graphical desktop
Free space issue is critical to lots of users, because gdm doesn't offer an userfriendly solution for user if there are no free space. I'm suggesting improved solution for this bug, based on solutions, mentioned in gnome bug 339229: * Always keep a "place-holder file" in the user's home directory that is big enough for GDM to "do its job", so, when they log in, GDM can merely write over top of this file as it needs. * Provide some kind of "hook" that would allow each distribution to take further steps in helping an user to fix the problem. So, gdm should create place-holder file of needed size (for example ~200 kb) in /tmp after gdm starts (and display a warning message if there are no enough space for creating such file) and erase this file in /tmp before gdm starts. Also gnome-session should check for free space during login and create place-holder file (for example ~200 kb) if there are enouch space and display a warning message if there are less than ~1 Mb free space (gdm should erase place-holder file in user's home, created by gnome-session when user starts to login). Should I report a bug agains gnome-session in Ubuntu ? ** Also affects: Baltix Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- The typical user will not know how to "make some free disk space" when he cannot log into a graphical desktop https://launchpad.net/bugs/41170 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 58998] Re: Gaim's tabs don't function like in Gedit/Epiphany/Terminal
To me Gaim's tabs look exactly the same as Gedit's tabs. I'm using Gaim 2.0.0 SVN. I have a feeling that's newer than what you're using. * Hmm, I can't imagine why they wouldn't be the same height. Unless we used to use a different close button that was causing the tabs to be taller than normal. Or maybe your tabs are shorter than they would be by default and our protocol icons are causing them to be taller in Gaim? * The bug where the close button gets cut off should be fixed. I'm not sure when we fixed it, but it was some time between 1.5.0 and 2.0.0 SVN. * We ARE using Gtk Notebook, but tab dragging was added only very recently (GTK+ 2.10.0, July 3 2006). Are you using GTK+ 10.0 or newer? We'll have to leave in our current tab dragging code, since we support all the way back to GTK+ 2.0, but eventually we'll add support for the new tab dragging and #ifdef it so that it's only enabled for people using GTK+ 2.10.0 or higher. But that's a pretty low priority. [Bug 57369] Re: References bash-doc in yelp are not hyperlinked
I can see those references which don't link to anywhere using yelp 2.14.3-0ubuntu1 and bash-doc 3.1-2ubuntu10. I don't know that the fault lies with yelp rather than bash-doc (other links in info pages seem to work) ** Changed in: yelp (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Confirmed -- References bash-doc in yelp are not hyperlinked https://launchpad.net/bugs/57369 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
