[Bug 68786] Re: I see dead people (aka talk with people which appears offline on msn) doesn't work anymore on gaim
I am using windows' live messenger 8.0.812.00 right now, and I can confirm that this can be done using it. My test: - say to someone talk to me when appearing as offline. - say him to close his conversation window - I closed my conversation window with him - Wait for 20 minutes - I open a conversation window with this person and talk him something - He received the message instantly. In fact, now msn can even store messages sent to offline people, as ICQ used to do ten years ago. But this is for another bug. ** Changed in: gaim (Ubuntu) Status: Rejected => Confirmed -- I see dead people (aka talk with people which appears offline on msn) doesn't work anymore on gaim https://launchpad.net/bugs/68786 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 26118] Re: Bad rendering (hinting) in Evince and Xpdf [FIX!]
I think I nailed it! First of all, the exact same issue arises in Edgy, which is what I am using now. However, it's easy to fix. Second, it's a poppler problem, not an Evince problem per se. See file splash/SplashFTFont.cc in poppler-0.5.4 (the Edgy version), lines 180 and following. This is where poppler loads glyphs for the splash output device; this code comes from xpdf, btw. Basically, there is a compile-time check to see whether freetype has the bytecode interpreter enabled; if so, IT IS USED regardless of whether anti-aliasing is on or off. Otherwise, no hinting is used if anti-aliasing is on. Again, this is a compile-time check. The problem is that, for most fonts used with LaTeX (but I'd say for most other fonts, too) it's best to omit hinting altogether. I fixed the problem by simply deleting the portion of the code that is triggered if TT_CONFIG_OPTION_BYTECODE is defined, and instead leaving only the section that is compiled if it is not. Rebuilding with pdebuild and installing with dpkg -i did the trick. Ideally, this should be a gconf setting, I guess. Hope this helps, M ** Attachment added: "Modified splash/SplashFTFont.cc from poppler-0.5.4" http://librarian.launchpad.net/4941174/SplashFTFont.cc -- Bad rendering (hinting) in Evince and Xpdf https://launchpad.net/bugs/26118 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 66355] Re: gpilotd locks up my Palm Z22
There is more info attached to the upstream bug, but the summary so far is: some palmos devices appear to have problems if a sync is attempted immediately after the device connects to the host computer. gnome-pilot 2.0.14 uses HAL to detect a palmos device, and so tends to attempt a connection considerably faster than in 2.0.13 and earlier. It's not clear what is causing this problem, but it seems to be in the usbserial / visor module case, so configuring libusb is a good workaround. Disabling HAL before attempting a sync also appears to work. A patch is being worked on, and a testable gnome-pilot tarball can be downloaded from the upstream bug. -- gpilotd locks up my Palm Z22 https://launchpad.net/bugs/66355 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 69380] Being Unset and Creating Access Issues
Public bug reported: I am not sure what is going on at this point. I just want to inform that I have discovered an annoyance with Gnome Remote Desktop. The first time I accessed the desktop after I upgraded, it could find the server. It was working perfectly under Dapper. Today, I tried accessing the desktop and I could not validate the password. I have not changed the settings from Dapper. Each time I have had to physically access the computer and uncheck and recheck the boxes in the Remote Desktop applet to reestablish a working connection. There are no visible errors, just a consistent issue so far each day I have accessed the desktop. I have not touched the settings between each use either. ** Affects: vino (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Ubuntu Desktop Bugs Status: Rejected -- Being Unset and Creating Access Issues https://launchpad.net/bugs/69380 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 68123] Re: Lock Screen not working anymore
But did you tried Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"? I think that's the point... Currently the fglrx driver doesn't support Xv for xorg 7.1 but that is another problem. Did you search the forum for your acceleration issue? Perhaps you you missed the "Composite" "disable" entry you have to add to your xorg.conf?! -- Lock Screen not working anymore https://launchpad.net/bugs/68123 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 69327] Re: Don't search url text in google
To clarify: After installing 6.10, Epiphany no longer shows a Google search results page for non-URL strings given on the URL line.
