Re: [Bug 90383] Re: [apport] gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV in _int_malloc()

2007-03-10 Thread Bill Hand
I am also getting Nautilus crashes, but it doesn't come up in the Bug
Reporting proggy... Below is what comes up in a box:

"Nautilus can't be used now, due to an unexpected error."

"Nautilus can't be used now, due to an unexpected error from Bonobo when
attempting to locate the factory.Killing bonobo-activation-server and
restarting Nautilus may help fix the problem."

When this crash occurred, what I was doing was looking through some
things I had downloaded with Azureus and was going to copy them and put
them in the directory I use for ebooks. All the sudden the file manager
closed and up pops the error on my other monitor. I run dual 19" flat
panel monitors and have it set up as if I have two totally separate
puters, (two sep desktops). It doesn't seem to matter which monitor I
am working with File Manager on, it does it on both 'sides'

If you need any further info or I can help in any way, please let me
know

Bill

[Bug 34435] Re: Cairo and ATI RENDER extension cause scrambled buttons in UbuntuLooks

2007-03-10 Thread Timo Aaltonen
I bet it is, I just closed this for xserver-xorg-driver-ati which was
renamed to -video-ati for edgy.

You could follow the SRU procedure to get the fix in dapper
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

of if SRU is not the way to go, a backport might be better:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports

That would mean getting 6.6.3 in dapper.

[Bug 84554] Re: clock applet does not load evolution calendars

2007-03-10 Thread Gert Kulyk
What is very interesting, if you uncheck in gconf
"apps/evolution/shell/skip_warning_dialog" evolution will come up (not
with the calendar-component, but will come up). If this option is set,
clicking twice on date results in evolution beeing started, but with no
gui, it seems (at least there is a process running).

[Bug 91080] drag&drop problem on desktop

2007-03-10 Thread Pollypicasso
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

sorry for my bad English first

When I make (or have) a document on my Desktop I can't move it properly.
Every time I 'drag&drop' I think nautilus wants to make a copy of the file
instead he moves it. It's allowed to move files, but only when I hit
Ctrl+button1. Normally he should move (replace) the file on the desktop.

I (actually my girlfriend) use Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn upgraded from
6.10 which also an upgrade from 6.06. The drag&drop-problem starts in
6.10. I hoped that it was solved when I do a dist-upgrade, but it is
still there. Even I try to re-install nautilus with synaptic the problem
stays there.

I hope my problem is wrote down clearly, otherwise I will answer
questions here.

Re: [Bug 88943] Re: Ubuntulooks doesn't support colour schemes

2007-03-10 Thread Étienne Bersac
Hi,

That's true. This is due to the limited number of customizable colors.
All brown and oranges are base on the same colors. This lead to a orange
everywhere theme. Note that, on my laptop, the colors are a bit lighter.

Anyway, the issue is : is that ugly ? Can we accept those tiny changes ?
It's not up to me to decide wether this file is fine or not, this is up
to the sabdfl.

Would be nice if you can tune the file.

[Bug 91082] [Evolution] Additonal instances don't cancel launch feedback

2007-03-10 Thread Alex Willmer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

If a second/additional instance of evolution is launched from the Gnome
menu/launcher then the additional window opens quickly. However, the
taskbar item 'Starting Evolution Mail' & the mouse pointer launch
feedback remains for some time after the window opens.

If evolution is started from scratch, the launch feedback correctly
disappears.

1. Launch Evolution Mail, note that launch feedback ceases upon completion.
2. Launch Evolution Mail again, launch feedback remains for approx 10 sec after
2nd window opens.

Since nautilus loops, there's no exact good point for me to get a

[Bug 70380] Re: Partitions on external hd are mounted twice

2007-03-10 Thread Huygens
I have the same problem with Ubuntu Feisty Fawn. I did not have it with
previous versions (6.06 and 6.10)
Strangely, it is displayed twice on my Gnome Desktop is the external hard drive
was already plugged in before I booted. However, if my Gnome session is already
started and I plug my external hard drive, it is shown once only.
You should notice that when I do 'df -k' my HD (1 partition only) is mounted
only once. But Gnome displays it twice on the desktop.

I do not know if it is of importance, but the partition is NTFS. It is
read only as this was how Ubuntu 6.06 mounted it and I did not change it
since (I have always performed upgrade)

You should notice that when I do 'df -k' my HD (1 partition only) is mounted
only once. But Gnome displays it twice on the desktop.

I do not know if it is of importance, but the partition is NTFS. It is
read only as this was how Ubuntu 6.06 mounted it and I did not change it
since (I have always performed upgrade)

[Bug 89696] Re: Quitting evolution produces dbus_connection_unref warning in .xsession-errors

2007-03-10 Thread Gert Kulyk
It seems this issue is related to network-manager, not to evolution
itself (see latest comment on above mentioned bugzilla report). There
is a patch for this under
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=84286&action=view , which
does not 1:1 fit for ubuntu sources. I have adopted it (see attachment)
for use with ubuntu revision of libnm_glib.c, after recompiling network-
manager the mentioned error-message vanished.

[Bug 90267] Re: ntp starts before the network is up in feisty

2007-03-10 Thread James
That comment is a good argument for leaving 'exit 0' in /etc/network/if-
up/ntp when the move is made to ntp 4.2.4. I have already been playing
with ntp 4.2.4 and seen the interface scanning in action. I think this
is a solution for a different problem not the problem I am having.

What you said covers having a properly running ntp then having an
interface change. My problem is ntp not starting up properly.

Not part of this bug but ntp 4.2.4 has it's own problems starting before
the network is up when the computer is booting.

1. Starts before eth0 is up. Will refuse to add servers even by ip because
there is no network to the address.
2. Can end up starting at the same time as ntpdate. If ntpdate gets port 123
first then ntp will fail to bind to port 123 and exit.
3. Have seen ntp start with eth0 up just in time so some servers can get added
by ip. Not all servers listed by ip get added.
4. Still can not resolve any fqdn.

The computer that I have been pasting the log from has an ip of
172.16.31.3. The ip does not change. The computer gets it's ip via dhcp
but is effectively a static ip as the ip is mapped to the mac address.
My stratum 1 is 172.16.31.201.

ntp 4.2.2p4
When run before eth0 is up ntp can not bind to eth0. The server 172.16.31.201
can be added by ip but not by fqdn. 172.16.31.3 can send packets to
172.16.31.201 but because ntp is not bound to eth0 any replies will be ignored.

ntp 4.2.4
When run before eth0 is up ntp can not bind to eth0. Ntp refuses to add server
172.16.31.201 because eth0:172.16.31.3 is not up yet. Says "Cannot find
existing interface for address 172.16.31.201". This version of ntp seems to
pick up eth0 when it does it's scan ok but this does not do much good because
no servers are defined.

If I restart ntp after the machines have booted then ntp will work
properly everytime. Either version.

[Bug 88943] Re: Ubuntulooks doesn't support colour schemes

2007-03-10 Thread Bruce Cowan

it seems as if the selected_bg_color:#FF6D0C is too bright, and this
causes the window border to quite orangey.

[Bug 91059] Re: Panels flicker and crash when clock preference changed to unix time

2007-03-10 Thread Mark Sisley
Thanks William,

Could you hint at where the gconf key is? I've looked all over and can't
find it. What would be a more appropriate value, as I can't recall what
default was called? I had every intention of switching right back when I
looked to see seconds since Jan 1, 1970 :)

I can confirm this, but I think it is related rather to a still running

[Bug 91149] Evolution Emoticons / Smileys

2007-03-10 Thread compucoder
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I have the base binary package of evolution installed and the emoticons
show up as red X's. Even when you select the option to automatically
insert smileys for html mail it still doesn't work. I don't know if this
matters but I am not using the default Human theme of Feisty. I am
trying out the BluBuntu theme.

I am using Feisty and have all recent updates applied. Evolution is
version 2.9.92

[Bug 91154] Evolution Syncing Http mail - frozen until done

2007-03-10 Thread compucoder
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

If you have a http account or exchange account and open exchange the
whole product is frozen until it connects and synchronizes the mail from
those servers. If the net is slow or I got a lot of mail on the exchange
server Evolution may take a few minutes to respond again. I have other
accounts as well which are pop3 and they are unavailable until the
system responds again. Almost seems like the account send/receive should
be in its own process / thread so the application itself remains
responsive.

ou really feel this annoyance when you are just opening Evolution to
read some info on a recent emailthat you need quickly and you have to
wait a few minutes to see it because it is fetching... synching...

2007-03-10 Thread compucoder
I should add also, I am sure this happens with IMAP accounts and
probably other types of accounts. I think the real issue is that syncing
/ fetching is not being handled in a separate process / thread so that
evolution can remain responsive at all times.

[Bug 90934] Re: [apport] nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in g_type_check_instance()

2007-03-10 Thread KRA
I have found the reason for the crash, in the NFS share there was an
invalid symlink. (a symlink that was pointing to something that wasn't
there) When I moved the symlink into a subfolder it didn't crash, but
when I open that folder with the invalid symlink nautilus crash again.

So this bug is totally unrelated to NFS, nautilus crash whenever you
enter a folder with an invalid symlink.

[Bug 86551] Re: [totem-gstreamer] AV synchronization problems

2007-03-10 Thread Mika Fischer
Well, GST_DEBUG=5 is completely over the top. It produces so much output
that my computer couldn't play the video without skipping and my disk
was filled up pretty fast. So I tried with 1, 2, 3 and 4. 1 does not
give any more output, the output of 2 is attached. I'll also attach a
gzipped version of the 3 output (12 MB unzipped!). The output with
GST_DEBUG=4 is 2.7 GB so I'll skip that one as well...

** Changed in: gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu)
   Status: Needs Info => Unconfirmed
