[Bug 63090] Re: do not eject all USB/Firewire devices

2007-04-26 Thread David Fokkema
Please, if you want to shout, do it in a forum. A bug report is meant to
be just that: a report. Comments should be adding new information or
discussing a fix. It bites me too, but please relax and let the
developers do their job. It's far easier for them if they don't have to
filter the comments in a report. Otherwise, the more popular ubuntu
becomes, the more difficult it will be to get things done. For example,
this bug report has already 10 duplicates. That means, no insult
intended, ten people who discovered the same problem, felt they had to
report about it, but failed to scan launchpad for a similar report.

[Bug 110177] Gcalctool can't handle small physic constants like the Boltzmann constant

2007-04-26 Thread wwwandy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcalctool

Open Gcalctool, switch to
Ansicht-Wissenschaftlich (in english i think view scintific)
Klick on drop-down constants, edit constants

Now i tried to add the Boltzmann-Konstante 1,380 650 5 · 10−23 J K−1
But there is a hint at the lower border: Alle Werte werden zur numerischen
Dezimalbasis angegeben
So, it doesn't seem to be possible to add a constant like 1.38e-24

then i tried to add it without e 0.13806505 which is
somewhat annoying.
Then I clicked on the new constant and a 0 appeared. Then I switched the
display mode to scintific and now the constant
1.380650656e-23 is shown correctly. Even if i switch back to the constant
editing window, the constant is now shown in exponential form,
but can't be edited. Just try to change 1.38e-23 to 1.38e-24.

Re: [Bug 107051] Re: totem-mozilla (dynamic link problem)

2007-04-26 Thread Martin Tschäppät
Hi Sebastian

You may excuse my late answer. I was absent for a few days.

According to the page source, the kind of dynamic link that
www.sportradio.ch uses, is something like
http://www.sportradio.ch/_inc/wxx.asp?eventid=2825kat=livesource=sportradio

It looks like the 'eventid=2825kat=live'-part is the link to the event, you
wanna listen to, while the 'source=sportradio'-part is the link to the
sponsoring messages.

Try to open this link in totem. You will see, that it works without problem.
Funny thing about is, that the event stream is some kind of hidden in the
playlist. And now try to open the link without 'source=sportradio' ... ;)

Again... Sorry for the late answer.

[Bug 109926] Re: past file on nautilus not possible

2007-04-26 Thread djnz
Hello!

Just to be 100% on this, are you certain that writing rights in that folder?
Yes, I have.

What version of Ubuntu are you running? (6.06 Dapper, 6.10 Edgy...)
Release 7.04 (feisty)

What version of nautilus are you running? (Check for version number in
synaptic)
1:2.18.1-0ubuntu1 (feitsy)

Excuse my English.
The problem is that when I press the right mouse button in a white area I can
paste.
When there are many files the white area does not exist, and pressing the right

[Bug 110243] Evolution import calendar from Outlook goes into Contacts

2007-04-26 Thread pkirkham
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I'm using the standard 2.10.1 version of Evolution on Feisty (7.04)
which I've just loaded from scratch having attempted to update from Edgy
but found a few things were strange.

I exported my Calendar from Outlook 2000 in CSV format and I can read
the file OK in Open Office.

When I Import in Evolution the Calendar is imported as Contacts which
isn't quite what I want.

What's up?

[Bug 78369] Re: Evince does not print a particular PDF properly

2007-04-26 Thread Till Kamppeter
Id2ndR, in your case GhostScript was not able to convert the PostScript
coming from evince's print function to the printer's native language.
Either evince has produced broken PostScript or there is a bug in ESP
GhostScript.

Can you try GPL GhostScript? Do

sudo apt-get install gs-gpl
sudo update-alternatives --config gs

and choose gs-gpl in the menu. Then try to print again, the same file on
the same printer. Does it work?

If you are not able to print on another printer (connected to the same
machine) now, revert to ESP GhostScript with

sudo update-alternatives --config gs

and choosing gs-esp.

[Bug 63090] Re: do not eject all USB/Firewire devices

2007-04-26 Thread Wenzhuo Zhang
dmesg output when inserting and ejecting an USB external harddrive. It
is a Zynet Monster 3 IN 1 Data Center, which is a USB 2.0 Hub + Flash
Card Readers + USB hard drive combo. The USB/Firewire - IDE adapter
included in this device is produced by Initio. Ejecting the external
hard drive used to work in Edgy and Dapper, but not now. Ejecting USB
flash drives connected to this device still works well.

BTW, Feisty can eject my 2.5 USB hard drive well. It's also a Zynet

[Bug 91149] Re: Evolution Emoticons / Smileys

I can confirm that this bug is in the version of evolution that gets
installed when upgrading from edgy to feisty (evolution 2.10.1-0ubuntu2

Specifically, with the feature automatically insert smiley images
enabled, usually an emoticon will appear after typing a smiley in text
(e.g. :( ). However, with this bug in place, all that appears is a red
X.

Okay, I found some working policy files in the opensuse HAL package, I'm
not sure how clean this is, or whether it'll blow up something (I'd
think not as they use the same version of HAL), so here are the files,

When reading information from musicbrainz, sound-juicer puts the artist

[Bug 106790] Problem get worse with Feisty

2007-04-26 Thread JSGosselin
Hi,

I've upgraded to feisty a couple of days ago. After that, the problem
was worse. My Laptop was freezing for no reason while I was doing normal
task (Firefox, matlab, playing music, ripping music, working on a Xterm
windows). I reinstalled Feisty 2 times, and even with a fresh
install it was freezing. It has even freezed on the live CD!

I don't know what the problem is...for the moment, I returned to my good
Windows XP OS that is really stable on my laptop. Never bug, never
freeze and seems to run faster with a better control over my CPu and
Fans options via 'Toshiba power saver' program... So, I don't think
there is a hardware problem with my laptop. I have a Toshiba satellite
P30.

For the moment, I have important works to do. I will try Ubuntu later
maybe .

This close this bug for me for the moment.

[Bug 110329] [apport] gnome-vfs-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in strcmp()

2007-04-26 Thread florfullagorfull
Public bug reported:

I had installed Ubuntu 7.04 and it worked OK but I didn't have the KDE
interface to play with. I used the Synaptic Package Manager (SPM) to add
it plus Quake 2 and 3. I rebooted and went into the KDE GUI. It works
OK. Then I decided to go back to the Gnome GUI and while I could login
and get the desktop, the top and bottom panels had no icons and the
mouse worked erratically. Since there was no way to logout gracefully I
pressed the reboot button and retried to get the Gnome GUI running, it
did not. I rebooted again and went into the KDE GUI and got the crash
tool, so here I am writing. I will reinstall 7.04 for the 4th time and
just leave Gnome as it is. I will not install KDE nor will I install the
3D desktop feature as that prevents X from starting. I have to log files
for that if you wish. Drop me a line.

[Bug 109576] Re: Gnome Panel config in Feisty

2007-04-26 Thread Joachim Sauer
Thanks for your bug report. I can't seem to reproduce your problem.

I don't find any gconf keys at apps/panels/system_default/top_panel

What I do see is those two trees:
/apps/panel/default_setup/toplevels/top_panel
and
/apps/panel/toplevels/top_panel_screen0

Changing keys in the first tree doesn't change anything in my running
setup (as it seems to be used for initial setup when you start Gnome for
the first time), but changing keys in the second tree is instantly
applied on the panels visible in my screen.

Could you please add some more information on how to reproduce the bug?

[Bug 109637] Re: The gnome panels don't appear when login

2007-04-26 Thread Caleb
One thing I've noticed is that it's only the default panels that don't
always show up. My manually added panel always loads. Also, killall
gnome-panel makes them load if they haven't loaded. However, I have to
run nm-applet manually to get the networking applet to show up after I
do that.

[Bug 108005] Re: Rhythmbox crashes with SIGV while handling queue

2007-04-26 Thread Lubomir kundrak
This particular diffuculty notably limits the usability of the package.
As it is quite easily reproducible and seems to be fixed upstream 0.9.8
the fix is very likely just a matter of backporting the patch.
