[Bug 145469] Cannot modify task percentages from clock applet

2007-09-26 Thread elyk
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I am experiencing behavior similar to that reported in Bug # 10908. I am
unable to change the progress percentage of tasks from the clock applet
dropdown. If I double click on the percentage, the field changes and
appears to become editable, but any keypresses are transmitted to the
window below. See the Bug # 10908 for a screenshot identical to the
behavior i am seeing. I am using gnome-panel version 2.20.0.1 (Gutsy

2007-09-26 Thread mrpeenut24
Also, when I delete something locally, the server keeps a copy of it,
and the local machine refuses to download the message. This causes the
messages on the server to build up and require me to log on to delete
them. This goes against the purpose of having a mail client edit
messages on my computer.

I noticed this as well with everything up to date. Login time has to be

[Bug 107969] Re: Please add a graphic equalizer in rhythmbox

2007-09-26 Thread mike o'connor
+1 from me too!

I was using Rhythmbox quite happily with my PC speakers until I had to
switch to using earphones. The earphones push out much less low-
frequency than the speakers - the resulting sound quality just isn't
good enough.

I really tried to find a solution - the Rhythmbox developers on the
mailing lists seem to reject a Rhythmbox-specific equalizer in favour of
a system-wide equalizer. Unfortunately I couldn't find either.

In the meantime I'm having to use XMMS - its inbuilt equalizer/amplifier
does the job perfectly.

[Bug 132612] Re: memory leak in evince?

2007-09-26 Thread Evan Klitzke
I am also experiencing a very bad regression in gutsy with respect to
memory usage in evince. Evince has always used a lot of memory, but it
seems much, much worse in Gutsy. For example, this document:
http://www.stanford.edu/class/cs242/readings/backus.pdf causes evince to
use hundreds of megabytes of memory. While I'm reading the document, the
memory usage keeps going up until I run out of memory and start
swapping. With this particular document I can go from a freshly booted
system with no other applications running (< 200 MB of RAM) to a state
where the system is swapping within a few minutes (I have 512 MB of
RAM).

I'm using the intel video card driver (the modesetting one called
"intel", not "i810"), so it seems unlikely that this is a video card
issue given that I and the original bug reporter have two totally
different video cards.

Is there some option in the deb that has been turned on since Feisty
that could cause this (e.g. I know cairo support has been
enabled/disabled many times)? Is there anything I can do to get the old
memory profile from evince?

[Bug 145418] gnome panel icons don't show up

2007-09-26 Thread Eugenia Loli-Queru
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Reproducible on two new user setups on my laptop. I drag the "terminal"
and "my computer" icons from the gnome menus on the desktop. Then, I
drag them next to the firefox/evolution/help icons on the gnome panel.
They stick there. Then I log out, and I relogin as these users. The new
icons are not visible! However, when I retry to let's say drag the
"terminal" icon again there, then the previously two invisible icons get
VISIBLE again. But if I logout again and log back in, they are invisible
again (they ARE there, just not rendering).

Re: [Bug 27014] Re: evolution bug, "Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync"

RE - ViEVO not appearing on Ubuntu 704 linux.

Thanks Jamie, all good !

I tried a fresh user account and it worked. So I blew away the .Koala
directory on my account and re installed. And that worked.

I found I could reproduce a version of the problem by choosing V4L
rather than V4L2 driver in ViEVO's config. Difference is that now the
ViEVO window appears so I can set V4L2.

Its all good !

Thanks for your help.

I have tried building the alsa drivers from source (1.0.15-rc3) but it didn't

[Bug 145400] gedit consumes 100% processor with paragraphs > 10 lines.

2007-09-26 Thread Alex Cornejo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

There is a problem with gedit (or maybe even the gtksourcebuffer widget)
when editing long lines with syntax highlighting.

Ive seen bug #134352, and it seems to be similar to what I am reporting
here, but I am creating a new bug report since in the original report
the problem seems to be minor since only long one-liner html files seem
to be the issue.

However, this bug appears even when doing a short document (for example
your homework) on Latex, and writing a small paragraph (less than 10
lines) without using line breaks.

To reproduce, create a new latex file and open it in gedit, make sure
gedit correctly detects it as latex file and it is doing syntax
highlighting on it. Now start typing gibberish (ie. asdf asdf asdf asdf
asdfasdf asdf), as your paragraph continues and the buffer starts to
break your line into several lines, you will notice how the processor
consumption will start going up, by the time you reach 10 break lines or
so (at least on my machine) the processor will reach 100% usage.

I think this bug is pretty serious, since having a 10line paragraph
seems a pretty common use case for a text editor.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 3582 ***

This problem is *not* a duplicate of 3528 at all. The root cause of 3528 was
that
gnumeric-doc was not installed.

I get the problem on Feisty: start Gnumeric, hit F1, yelp comes up and says
"An unknown error occured. The default action does not support this protocol."
Gnumeric-doc is most definitely installed however.

Other applications (e.g Gimp) do not seem to have this problem.

[Bug 145395] a wish for easy installation of fonts by using "font book"

2007-09-26 Thread reaby
Public bug reported:

If one wants to add a font to gnome... it's ridiculously hard at the
moment!

You could try system --> settings --> appearance --> fonts --> advanced -->
goto font folder.
This is not what normal user would expect! ever! well i didn't.

Searching forums gave finally the answer: just type fonts:// to nautilus!
What? really? developers??
Ok, it's at least a expected place, but no one could ever try that on first
time.

So I really, really wish for font book or my fonts app to control panel, and
thus ability to install system wide or user fonts
(which according to forums is possible). Application should also check for
crc:s in ttf, as sometimes those occur in downloaded fonts.

The best, obviously, could be that this wish is heard and we get "font
book" or "my fonts"

Cheers,
Petri Järvisalo

[Bug 117732] Re: ABI changed without a corresponding soname change

2007-09-26 Thread dennda
Hi there.
I get the same error:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ekiga -c sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
ekiga: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libopal.so.2.2: undefined symbol:
_ZN11PSafeObjectC2Ev

(This also happens with really existing sip-adresses.)
I hope this gets fixed in gutsy. :)

regards

[Bug 141390] Re: CPU 60% and High Temperatures playing large MP3s

2007-09-26 Thread TJ
Well, the issue has recurred today. I had been using it without Cross-
fader. Before a PC restart I re-enabled Cross-fader in Rhythmbox.

After the restart Rhythmbox is back to using a large amount of CPU and
pushing the temperatures up. I tried disabling the plug-ins, one-
at-a-time, but with them all now disabled the issue continues.

So it looks like your earlier question about the Cross-fader was on the
money. Is there any further diagnosis I can do to further determine why
this happens?

[Bug 145354] evolution - filter mailboxes for duplicates - wish

2007-09-26 Thread Andrew Frank
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

any problem with evolution can result that one has the same mail more
than once in a mailbox (problem with deleted mails which get copied
again ...)

it is extremely useful if one can identify and delete all duplicates of
a mail in a mailbox (balsa has this feature). it reduces bulk...

i hope/expect this to be easy to implement.

thank you!

[Bug 22930] Re: Newly-sensitive button ignores clicks until cursor re-enters it

2007-09-26 Thread Xamusk
This bug is pretty annoying.
A very acessible way to reproduce it without using fancy wizards or test
programs is to just use xsane.
Every ever scan I have to move the mouse out of the button then in again. It's
very annoying and because of that I often have to use the keyboard to scan
large sets of images.
A newbie wouldn't be very happy though.
A fix is necessary, even because of the age of this bug!

[Bug 145327] Feature request : Evince/EOG/Epiphany lack an option to reset toolbars

2007-09-26 Thread antistress
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eog

Eye of GNOME, Evince and Epiphany have configurable toolbars which is
really, reallly, reallly great.

But once the user has played with it, he may want to reset toolbar to
get back defaut toolbar (since he may have made a mistake).

Therefore, i think these softwares should propose an option to reset
toolbars (see Audacity for an exemple of it)

Also, maybe the method to configure toolbars should be unified :
Evince : go to Edition>toolbars menu
New Eye of GNOME (v. 2.20) : go to Edition>toolbars menu (same as Evince)
Epiphany : go to view>toolbar>personalize toolbar (same as Firefox which is non
a "gnome software" but is an "ubuntu software")

For being exhaustive, i'd like to add that i made a bug report on
Bugzilla concerning Nautilus (Bugzilla 480379 : "The toolbar should be
configurable like new EOG, Epiphany or Evince") and another one
concerning GNOME panel (Bugzilla 480720 Feature request : The panel lack
an option to reset configuration options

[Bug 145318] evolution crashes on vcs/ics import with "umlauts"

2007-09-26 Thread PhilChip
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

This is my first bug report here, so please be tolerant. Thank you!

Whenever I want to import an appointment invitation (with ics file
attached) received via mail and generated from Sun ONE Calendar
evolution crashes.

Saving the ics-file to disk and importing it as .ics is also causing
evolution to crash. Importing it from disk as .vcf works perfectly.

2007-09-26 Thread Sean T murray
Just a note to verify other results. I am having what appears to be the
same issue on a AMD64 with NVIDIA GeForce 7025 Video. When I was
running firefox from the console (which uses the NVIDIA drivers I
downloaded from NVIDIA), firefox ran fine. When I ran firefox while
using vnc (which was using the open source driver), it seg faulted on
start. Changing the theme to "clearlooks" stops the seg fault.

[Bug 144110] Re: totem -stuttering/bad performance with mp4 video

2007-09-26 Thread OCP_001
Yes, the problem is the same when launching manually.

A good example video can be downloaded (via bittorrent) from this url:
http://www.anime-kraze.org/torrent/%5BA-Kraze%5D_Seirei_no_Moribito_-_23_%5B75667171%5D.mkv.torrent
Launch the mkv file and you should encounter stuttering playback/short drops in
framerate after 10-15 seconds of playback. When watching carefully (and
ignoring the silly soundtrack) you should also see greenish screen glitches to
the left border of the playback window (ca. 1:17 playback).

This problem is not limited to this file, I encounter it when playing
any file with mp4 codec.
