[Bug 146332] Re: bug-buddy crashes java applications (i.e. eclipse)
Hi. I had to uninstall it today because I need eclipse for my project and it's the only workaround that works. Till today I was using up-to-dated gutsy version (2.18.1-2ubuntu1). As I read, java vm is hiding its bugs by catching their own segfaults. Bug buddy also catches them and thus make eclipse crash. So what they did to solve is just catching the applications that don't catch the signals themselves. I suffered from crashes many times a day while changing from an opened file to another (not the bug of libgtk2.0, that was due to the tooltips). After uninstalling bug-buddy there's no more crashes (till now). If I can help in any other way, make me know. You have been subscribed to a public bug: When using Usplash on Ubuntu Feisty (Lenovo 3000 N100), Usplash works well but it breaks suspend and hibernate. [Bug 146543] can only really have one row in workspace switcher
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel Though the workspace switcher in the bottom right corner allows you to have multiple rows (Show all workspaces in: X rows), only one row is used. I have four workspaces and wanted to show them in two rows. All that happens is that the workspace icons/previews in the switcher become half as tall and the bottom is left empty. They are still all side-by- side. I am using the Normal desktop/compiz effects. I upgraded from feisty, so that might be a consideration. It certainly explains why I have four workspaces, since the switcher, at least in normal mode doesn't allow you to select how many workspaces you'd like, only if it should show the current workspace or all of them in multiple rows. When I go back to using no visual effects, I am able to select how many workspaces I'd like and change the workspaces names (and choose whether to show those names in the switcher.) So it seems clear the problem is related to the visual effects, unless the config from feisty somehow messes up the tool's preferences when visual effects are used. [Bug 113377] Re: no drop-down list for online dictionary Ubuntu 7-04
The issue is this: gnome-dictionary looks up definitions on dict.org, which has many dictionary databases. However, gnome-dictionary doesn't allow the user to specify which database to search, so all of the results are displayed. This can be very frustrating. For example, if you look up the word Food, the first database entry given is To supply with food, which is clearly an obsolete usage. Scrolling down, one only finds the definitions from the Dictionary of Collaborative English, which is unnecessarily wordy and is basically a transcription of Webster 1913. The WordNet definition - which is also available from dict.org - is nowhere to be found. gnome-dictionary tantalizingly supplies a list of Available Databases and Available Strategies, but does not supply any method for selecting either of them to filter the search results, leaving the user to either: a. Weep in despair, or b. [Bug 116990] Re: Rhythmbox sound problems (clicking/snapping/crackling) when not using crossfading backend
yes the crossfading option seems to fix this issue for me as well, just crossfade like .1 second and its fixed.. lol that is crazy, I hope it is fixed so others dont decide to ditch rhythmbox because it rocks -- Rhythmbox sound problems (clicking/snapping/crackling) when not using crossfading backend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116990 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 99145] Re: [feisty] GDM font seems to be to big or too high DPI
Same problem for me in Gutsy Beta with default video driver. This has nothing to do with the font dpi set in the Appearance preferences, as mine was already set to 96 to begin with. -- [feisty] GDM font seems to be to big or too high DPI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99145 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 115937] Re: [shares-admin] Can't share files on Windows partition
I have this problem in Gutsy Beta, and if I try to share a folder using nautilus, doing: right click on the folder - compartir carpeta (my gutsy is in spanish, in english it would be share folder) and it gives me an error dialog that says: error accessing 'file:///media/hda2/mp3': Acceso denegado -- [shares-admin] Can't share files on Windows partition https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/115937 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 54813] X server failure dialogue garbled (UTF-8 problem)
You have been subscribed to a public bug: -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 affects /distros/ubuntu/xserver-xorg NOTE: This bug report is about the fact that the dialogue about the server failure is garbled. When the system starts up, the X server starts and briefly shows a garbled display: it looks like there is a mismatch between the display data in the video memory and the video mode, so that there is a kind of horizontally stripy garbled image in part of the screen. Then shortly afterwards the X server terminates again and I go back into text mode and get a dialogue box offering me various logfiles; this dialogue box is itself semi-garbled: The textual components are legible. But the dialogue border is displayed as a sequence of bizarre accented characters. For example, the box saying `The X server is now disabled ...' has, on the top edge, U' o i^ ( U' o C, )x26 U' o e' where U' is U-with-acute-accent, o is o-with-umlaut, C, is C-with-cedille, etc. This string is longer than the 80-column width and causes cursor positioning errors. This particular install is a clean dapper install from the released i386 d-i CD, upgraded to edgy by editing sources.list and updated every few days. Everything is up to date except that apt has held back a bunch of python packages. I have to install with debian-installer/framebuffer=false to avoid an incompatibility between the framebuffer driver and my hardware. [Bug 54813] Re: X server failure dialogue garbled (UTF-8 problem)
Actually this is a gdm bug. Reassigning. (I also proposed a patch to fix it a while back; don't know if it was accepted, but the issue might be resolved now.) ** Changed in: gdm (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: xorg = gdm Status: Confirmed = In Progress -- X server failure dialogue garbled (UTF-8 problem) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/54813 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
