[Bug 32089] Re: Non-i18n date formatting in Evolution time edit fields
The bug whch I described in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/151697 is still there 3 days before 7.10 is to be released. It makes Gutsy's default email/calendar/contact suite USELESS for users of Polish locale settings. And it will prevent me from upgrading to 7.10 on my production machine as it's crucial for my work. :( ** Attachment added: "zrzutekranu.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10003884/zrzutekranu.png -- Non-i18n date formatting in Evolution time edit fields https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/32089 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 152505 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152505 I applied the patch from 152505 and it does allow Xnest to connect, however, there's still a problem. I have a thin client running an nfs root installation of Fiesty. It connects to a gutsy server with xdmcp. This configuration still fails with 2.20.0-0ubuntu4 (plus 152505 patch), but works with ubuntu3. The client does support RandR, and I see this in the X output: (==) RandR enabled (II) Initializing built-in extension RANDR If I remove patch 63 from ubuntu4, it works like ubuntu3. Also, if I comment out the RemoteGreeter line in my gdm.conf-custom file (RemoteGreeter=/usr/lib/gdm/gdmgreeter) it works. Unless the fix committed for 152505 is significantly different from the one in the comments, patch 63 definitely still introduces a regression in xdmcp support. -- xdmcp/gdmchooser breakage from 2.20.0-0ubuntu3 -> 4 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152824 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

When I say I filed a complaint long ago, I filed it for Ubuntu 7.04. In other words, the problem wasn't taken into consideration as something to fix for Ubuntu 7.10. Other than that, for 7.04 it did work WHEN installed it on the hard drive. But it did not work with the Live-CD. Also, I wasn't able to find the bug I reported long ago. [Bug 152810] GDM faces not showing in Ubuntu Gutsy (LIVE-CD)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm I've reported this problem in the past, and it seems to have never been fixed. The problem exists inside of the LIVE-CD version. I'm emphasizing that it occurs with the Live-CD. At the moment, I'm using Ubuntu Gusty. I can't remember the exact version, so here is what the ISO says: ubuntu-7.10-beta-desktop-i386 Here's what I did: 1. Add a new desktop user 2. Login to the desktop user 3. Give the user a face avatar: Chess piece avatar 4. Logged out 5. Logged in with user "ubuntu" 6. Changed the GDM to "Happy GNOME with Browser" 7. Applied changes 8. Logged out I looked at the GDM browser, and it still showed the MSN-like / marshmallow-type avatar for the new desktop user. It shouldn't. For the new desktop user, I gave it the chess piece avatar. However, the avatar is not showing up. The chess piece avatar should be showing. I did this same thing for LIVE-CD Ubuntu 7.04. Inside of Live-CD 7.04, the face avatar didn't show up. I already filed a complaint on this long ago, and it seems no one took care of the problem. [Bug 152228] Re: Color for IOWait hard to distinguish from Idle color
I understand what IOWait is. And I get that it isn't busy, but waiting. But while it is "busy waiting" (har har), those CPU cycles are lost, and that percentage of the processor is utilized, making the machine slower. What I'm saying, is that seeing your IOWait is useful. And that with the current color scheme, it looks like your CPU is idle when it is using IOWait. For example, a use case: Bob, a Windows/.NET developer is using Ubuntu for the first time. He installs MonoDevelop so he can try out .NET on Linux. Bob launches MD from the main menu. He notices that it is taking a while for MD to load, and his HDD sounds busy. He looks at his system monitor to see how busy the machine is. It looks like the cpu is at 2%, but his entire desktop is very slow, even the things that would not touch the HDD. Because Bob's can't see the difference between #002F3D and #00, he has a usability problem. -- Color for IOWait hard to distinguish from Idle color https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152228 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-system-monitor in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 152769] clock runs slow - seconds change every 4-7 seconds
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: yelp Using Feisty c/w latest upgrades running in Virtual Machine Ware on Dell Inspiron 5315 c/w Vista. Clock v.2-18-1 Two problems: a) In 'manual' mode time shown on clock lags behind actual time. To correct the clock reading I use the time adjustment window and manually synchronize the time to the correct time. I have noted that the seconds window changes only every 4 to 7 actual seconds- - for example, if I have just synchronized the time and the seconds read '23' they will change to '24' only after an interval of 4 to 7 actual seconds. Consequently the clock always reads a time that is lagged behind the actual time. b) auto synchronization of the time doesn't work at all - the appropriate time zone (America/Vancouver) and internet servers (clock.tricity.wsu.edu) are chosen but the synchronization never occurs. The clock simply stops at whatever time was shown immediately after the reading when the 'adjust time and date' window was accessed. I have tried various internet servers with the same lack of results. Auto synchronization doesn't ever seem to occur. [Bug 147770] Re: awful print quality due to unwanted blur
Ah, the problem is that you are using SVG images. SVG is a vector format. gThumb and eog are raster viewers. The librsvg library is used by gThumb and eog to convert the SVG image into a raster format - automatically causing fuzziness. I'm not sure what dpi/resolution is used in the vector>raster conversion - whatever it is, it is too coarse for your application. gThumb and eog only provide basic support for SVG. For full support, you do need to use a vector-based program like Inkscape. [Bug 147770] Re: awful print quality due to unwanted blur
I've tried all of them. By the way, the printer is an HP PSC-1315. I think the problem may be (but I'm not sure) in the way gThumb (and eog) opens the files. I've noticed that if I zoom in, the image already gets the blur effect on-screen. That happens with normal pictures and SVGs alike, so I think it could be in some anti-aliasing mechanism. This is probably why one wouldn't normally see the problem, because it's only noticeable in images where edge sharpness is important. I'm attaching a screenshot showing exactly what I'm talking about (this is already in the screen, before printing). And I'll also attach a screenshot of Inkscape, where the image was created, showing how it should be. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot of the effect" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9978900/Captura_da_tela-Pakua_bagua_mod.svg%20%20%2832-45%29.png -- awful print quality due to unwanted blur https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147770 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gthumb in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
