[Bug 112518] Re: Switch User freezes at blank screen

2007-12-22 Thread NikTheGeek
I have a similar problem, but a different outcome. The first time I
press the "Switch User, Logout, Shutdown etc" icon, my PC freezes for a
good 2 or 3 minutes - long enough to make me walk away from the machine
and come back later. But then the window has opened to give me the
options. I lock screen. Come back later and carry on working. Subsequent
presses of the "Switch User, Logout, Shutdown etc" icon seem ok.

Ubuntu 7.10 - Nvidia GeForce 6600GT using Nvidia Graphics - note: I had
the same problem on the supplied graphics driver and I have tried both
64bit and 32bit distros. The pc is an AMD 64bit 3.8GHz Athlon.

Thoughts? Or is my issue covered elsewhere? if it is, apologies, but
this was the closest I could find...

Nick

[Bug 27014] Re: evolution bug, "Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync"

@apt-getters: Since the bug involves corrupted indices in your home

[Bug 27014] Re: evolution bug, "Summary and folder mismatch, even after a sync"

2007-12-22 Thread Sebastian Kapfer
For those suffering from this problem: A working workaround.

1. Set Evolution to Offline mode, exit evolution

2. Open terminal and run evolution --force-shutdown

3. find ~/.evolution/mail/local/ -name \*ev-summary -delete

4. Re-start Evolution.

Warning: this involves automated file removal which can result in data
loss if done incorrectly. I take no responsibilities. Read "man find"
to understand what you're doing.

Step 2 is *essential*.

To avoid further corruption of your Evo folders: Always put it in
offline mode before exiting. This avoids the mailcheck ruining the ev-
summary files while the folders are being loaded and works around the
bug on my system.

My Ubuntu install is an upgrade from 7.04 to 7.10. (Currently on 7.10)

[Bug 178104] Re: rss plugin + google reader

2007-12-22 Thread David Prieto
Google even offers a way to do this from the Bookmarks; you just have to
add a bookmark pointing to:

javascript:var%20b=document.body;if(b&&!document.xmlVersion){void(z=document.createElement('script'));void(z.src='http://www.google.com/reader/ui
/subscribe-
bookmarklet.js');void(b.appendChild(z));}else{location='http://www.google.com/reader/view/feed/'+encodeURIComponent(location.href)}

...and click on the bookmark when you are visiting the desired page.
Surely it would not be very hard to port this functionality to the RSS
plugin.

No, this is not a duplicate of 135529 - none of what I reported is even
remotely close to the symptoms in that bug report. Not only that, but
the affected versions and environmental conditions contributing to this
bug couldn't be further apart than they are between these two bugs, but
thanks for the attentiveness. Fortunately with the most recent kernel

[Bug 157281] Re: no option to play audio attachment

2007-12-22 Thread Reece
No. I tried that before the OP, and I just repeated the process. I
created a new account (useradd -m test), logged in, started evolution,
declined to restore evo from backup, created a new IMAP account in evo,
found a mail with a wav attachment, and... same thing. The attachment
options looked exactly like that in my 11-24 screenshot.

I've attached my package list in case that might be relevant.

[Bug 178155] [Hardy Alpha-2 Totem] While playing a DVD-VR, seeking to a different place in movie does not work.

2007-12-22 Thread Stanley Sokolow
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

[Hardy 8.04 alpha-2] Totem player will not seek to a later place in
movie. I inserted a DVD-VR disk. It was recognized and an icon on the
desktop was created. Totem began to play the movie, which plays fine.
When I try to drag the time cursor to the right to seek to a later point
in the file, the video images display okay as still images as I drag
along. When I release the mouse button, the movie does not resume
playing from that time point but instead the time cursor jumps back to a
point early in the timeline, the video still at that point displays, but
playing does not resume. I repeated the drag, but same thing happens.
The message box below the controls says that it is playing. The
control shows || pause, not the play button. It looks like it should be
playing, but no progress is made. If I press pause and then play, still
no video playing, just a still image. After repeated trying of back and
forth seeks, pause/play, and then returning the time cursor to the
start, the video sometimes resumes.

[Bug 178155] Re: [Hardy Alpha-2 Totem] While playing a DVD-VR, seeking to a different place in movie does not work.

2007-12-22 Thread Stanley Sokolow
After the above testing was done, I closed Totem. I clicked on the
DVD-VR icon on desktop. Instead of re-loading Totem and playing the
video as it did when the DVD-VR disk was first inserted, the contents of
the disk were displayed as files in folders. Right click on the DVD-VR
icon brought up a menu, but there is no "play" entry, but there is
"open" and "browse folder", both of which do the same thing -- they
launch the file browser (Nautilus) and display the contents. The
default behavior when a user launches the DVD-VR icon with the mouse
should be to play it if the disk is a playable format, which DVD-VR is.
As a minimum, there should be a "play" item on the context menu (right
click).

[Bug 178166] [Hardy Alpha-2 i386: Totem-xine] Totem-xine installed the normal way using Synaptic but it won't launch -- libxine.so.1 is missing.

2007-12-22 Thread Stanley Sokolow
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem-xine

I installed totem-xine the normal way using Synaptic. Two problems:
1. It does not install a menu item in the Applications>Sound&Video menu.
2. When I launched totem-xine from a terminal, it would not run. It exited
with exit code 127 saying that libxine.so.1 was not found. Dependency seems to
be missing from Hardy alpha-2.

2007-12-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When compiling a different window manager or desktop environment, the

I have the same issue when using a brand new 8GB iPod. If I disable the
iPod plugin in Rhythmbox then the issue goes away. Plugging in the
device with this plugin enabled also crashes any open Rhythmbox windows.
If Rhythmbox and Amarok use the same plugin to talk to iPods maybe this
is the source?

[Bug 157189] Re: Audio preview function causes a memory leak

2007-12-22 Thread Wong Yong Jie
I can confirm this. Hovering the cursor over the MP3 files that I have
each time increases the number of FDs by 4. The FDs are not freed later
on, causing the handles to reach 1024.

Once the maximum number is hit, the icons of everything in the nautilus
window gets replaced by the generic "missing icon". Attached is the
output of "lsof -p `pidof nautilus`".

[Bug 178209] Hardy totem should depend on python-gdata

If totem doesn't automatically install python-gdata, it should at least
prompt the user to install it. The youtube plugin is very visable, and
