[Bug 220125] [NEW] totem crash with .mvk file

2008-04-21 Thread Pastito
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I asked azureus to open "Media for Ad Supported Content" video that is a .mkv
file, and when totem load, all the system crashes and I had to reboot the PC to
continue working.
This happens when I'm using firefox, azureus and evolution at the same time.
I attach the .mkv file.

[Bug 158880] Re: F-Spot can't send mail using Thunderbird

2008-04-21 Thread Costas
The python script was working for me under gutsy too, but then it
stopped. Looking at it the script there were two paths:

1) if thunderbird is running, use -remote and sleep before deleting files
2) if thunderbird is not running use -compose and do not sleep before deleting
files

I guess using the -compose option expected thunderbird not to return
until it had finished with the files?

Anyway, the script was taking the second path even when thunderbird was
running, and deleting the files instantly. I am not sure what changed to
make it start doing this.

I fixed it just by making it always sleep whichever path it takes (the
new version is attached).

[Bug 219062] Re: "Could not read from resource" error when playing encrypted DVD

2008-04-21 Thread Milan
Sebastien, I don't understand you: it is not possible you were able to
read CSS-encrypted DVDs withouth aving installed libdvdcss2. And if you
have done so, you cannot experience the bug.

Maybe there are two bugs here: I assumed bmdavis had problems with
encrypted DVDs because unencrypted ones are rare so he ma not have been
able to test one. bmdavis, could you run the script I told about in my
first post? If you still have this error, then I will open another bug
for the dialog issue.

For me, the issue is the error dialog, and nothing else. I do not have
any screenshot of the Gutsy dialog here but I guess it was something
like "For legal reasons, DVD support can not be enabled by default.
Please read the instructions in the help", with a link to the help page
about that.

[Sorry for the version in the title, I thought it was the recommended
way.]

Running Ubuntu 8.04, installed from Beta 5 and fully upgraded.
I am unable to use nautilus to mount mass storage drives via usb.
I have tested with 3 drives, two flash drives and one sata->usb, all
partitioned with fat32. All drives mounted in Ubuntu 7.10.

Issuing the command: sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt
works as one would expect and all data is accessible from /mnt

Nautilus Error: Cannot mount volume
Invalid mount option when attempting to mount the volume 'DISK'.

Output of parted on /dev/sdb:
Disk /dev/sdb: 16,1GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: msdos

The output of lspci, lsusb and dmesg is attached.

[Bug 173966] Re: java plugin not working in firefox 3 on ubuntu 8.04

2008-04-21 Thread cypher
go to /usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins$

and do:

sudo ln -s /etc/alternatives/firefox-javaplugin.so

I am using firefox beta 4 and ubuntu gutsy 7.1 my applet works already.
If you are seeking to get your java up on firefox

if you cannot find firefox-javaplugin.so maybe you can try
ls -l | grep firefox
to get all the files that are related to firefox
probably one of them is the firefox javaplugin link

just swap my given firefox-javaplugin.so for that file that you found and try
if it works.
hopefully this helped
Thanks to those who posted above that leaded me to /etc/alternatives and
/usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins I would never have figured out where the
plugins are myself

[Bug 211693] Re: nautilus cannot eject ipod while eject(1) does

2008-04-21 Thread scananza
Just upgraded to the fix-release, rebooted but the problem persists:
gnome-mount -e /dev/sdc or gnome-mount -e /dev/sdc1 (IPOD is third
drive) simply do nothing, while eject doesn't work anymore:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ eject -v /dev/sdc1
eject: device name is `/dev/sdc1'
eject: expanded name is `/dev/sdc1'
eject: `/dev/sdc1' is mounted at `/media/IPOD'
eject: unmounting device `/dev/sdc1' from `/media/IPOD'
eject: `/dev/sdc1' is a multipartition device
eject: unable to open `/dev/sdc1'

as you can read, the drive is unmounted but the eject fails.

Trying to eject from nautilus gives me the usual "unable to eject" error
message too.

[Bug 182038] Re: Black rectangle instead of image in FF3 [Hardy]

2008-04-21 Thread Nikolaus Filus
I just made a discovery for my case and would ask ANYONE subscribed to
this bug to test it.

Browsing planet.gnome.org as usual showed almost any image either shifted or
black. Then I
reset the zoom level to 0 (Ctrl+0) and from now on everything looks as
expected. Afterwards
I switched "zoom text only" on. Otherwise scaling images still produces black
rectangles.
For me the bug is still there - it's only not visible most the time.

Then go to the evolution folder and delete all files called "inbox*".

[Bug 220165] [NEW] gnome-keyring-daemon cached passwords for SSH keys not working after hibernation

2008-04-21 Thread B
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-keyring

Description:Ubuntu 8.04
Release:8.04

gnome-keyring:
  Installed: 2.22.1-1
  Candidate: 2.22.1-1
  Version table:
 *** 2.22.1-1 0
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

openssh-client:
  Installed: 1:4.7p1-8ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:4.7p1-8ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1:4.7p1-8ubuntu1 0
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

When using gnome-keyring-daemon as ssh-agent after first boot,
everything is OK.

SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/tmp/keyring-lxl4Ne/ssh

The socket is open by gnome-keyring-daemon. On first SSH connection, the
popup asks for the private key password, and caches it for subsequent
SSH connections.

After hibernation, however, SSH logins using cached passwords do not
work anymore, SSH asks for the key password. Tunneled agent connections
also do not work, which is a bigger problem.

SSH_AUTH_SOCK is still set to the same socket, and gnome-keyring-daemon
(same PID as before hibernation) still has the socket open, so it should
work.

I tried stracing the gnome-keyring-daemon process, but it does not see a
connection to the auth socket, so this bug might be in ssh, not gnome-
keyring.

If there's any more information I can provide, I'll do my best.

Thanks.
B.

[Bug 220147] [NEW] firefox-2 plugins unable to be re-enabled

2008-04-21 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: firefox-2

Firefox 2 plugins are disabled after upgrading to hardy RC from latest
gutsy. When I try to re-enable them, certain plugins cannot be re-
enabled. The button is not greyed out, it simply does not respond to
clicks.

The same is true after an aptitude reinstall.
(I didn't try purging and reinstalling firefox-2)

Some plugins can be re-enabled, I really can't tell if there is a
pattern (i seem to be able to use all the plugins that i don't *need*)

It is important that users are able to fallback to firefox-2 since
otherwise, firefox 3 is forced and compromises usability.

[Bug 12153] Re: Cannot use Windows key in keyboard shortcuts

2008-04-21 Thread ross
I'm on Gutsy, on a PC, with a UK keyboard. I've had similar problems to some of
the posters here. Pressing +t launches a terminal, which is good
- I asked it to do this.
Pressing +e does not launch my home folder, despite me asking it
to do so in exactly the same way.

I liked Cardy's solution of manually typing e into gconf-editor.
This worked, kind of - except it soon became clear that Gnome was just
ignoring the part, and was launching Nautilus every time I pressed
the 'e' key. Not ideal.

Are others finding this problem with Cardy's solution (and backed up by
Paul K)? Any other work-arounds? I can live without e launching
nautilus, but I'm not sure my wife can!

[Bug 173966] Re: java plugin not working in firefox 3 on ubuntu 8.04

2008-04-21 Thread Pjotr12345
I have found a perhaps better solution, at least for 32-bit-Ubuntu.

The thing is, that Sun Java JRE is no longer in ubuntu-restricted-
extras. It has been replaced by OpenJDK and the Icedtea plugin. But
those don't work as well as Sun Java.

These are the steps I followed:

1. I installed ubuntu-restricted-extras on a clean installation of the
Release Candidate of 8.04 (32-bit edition)

2. Afterwards, simply installing Sun Java JRE and plugin is not enough.
First you have to completely remove OpenJDK and the Icedtea plugin in
Synaptic. Only then you should install Sun Java JRE and plugin.

Then everything works fine again (at least on my computers).

It's a pity that Sun Java JRE has been replaced in ubuntu-restricted-
extras. Now a lot of people will have to do this manual correction
afterwards.

Greetz, Pjotr.

RE: [Bug 219615] Re: Logout screen suspends some of already running processes.

2008-04-21 Thread Boilingpoint
Please look at this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=757850
I am using Ubuntu 7.10 x86 and x86_64. But the symptoms on both machines are
same.
I mean that when Logout screen appears, some of already running processes
suspend their operation. The processes are alive but stop their operation. I
think Logout screen would block these processes in some manner.
And the test code will be the simplest example among them.
Thanks
Regards,
sjlee

Thank you for your bug report. What Ubuntu version do you use? Do you
mean that the informations on screen are not being updated or that the
software stops running?

Status in Source Package "gnome-session" in Ubuntu: Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gnome-session
When logout screen appears, some of already running processes suspend their
operation. You can check it easily with the following test code:
#include
main()
{
 int i=0;
 while (1)
 {
 printf("cnt: %d\n", i++);
 }
}
Binary from this code stops its operation when logout screen appears.
I tested it on both GNOME and KDE of Fedora7 & 8. GNOME logout screen does not
have the fade effect, but though KDE logout screen has the fade effect (the
fade effect of the KDE logout screen in Fedora is very similar with the one of
Ubuntu), the KDE logout screen does not suspend already running processes at
all.
I remember that the earlier version of KDE (in Fedora Core 4) had the same
problem, but recent KDE version (in Fedora 7 or 8 ) fixed the problem.
I hope it be fixed soon.
Thanks in advance.
