[Bug 236241] [NEW] PDF image fractures when scrolled

2008-05-30 Thread John Hughes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

With the scale set to 200% (and others above 100%) the image fractures
as the scroll bar is used to move the image. The image recovers when it
is minimized and then maximized. The image I saw this on is a public
PDF document (http://www.vta.org/schedules/VTA_Bike_Map.pdf). The
problem also resolves if you change the focus to another window (I
discovered this when I tried to take a screenshot of the problem).

[Bug 15442] Re: panels change their position between logins

2008-05-30 Thread Daniel R.
Hint:

In Debian Lenny it just happens the first time you reposition both
panels on bottom (this always happened to me with past versions of
Gnome). Nevertheless, if you delete the panel you desire to be on top,
create a new identical one, and reposition them as you want, this
preference is preserved across logins.

That is, you have the same behaviour as in previous versions of Gnome
(including Ubuntu 7.10). Not perfect, but bearable.

Attached is a screenshot with desired results.

PD: Could you paste the URL to the gnome bug where you found the
suggestion?

[Bug 177660] Re: rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in rb_ipod_db_set_ipod_name()

2008-05-30 Thread Hewus
This fix stops rhythmbox crashing on startup for me, but I now cannot
transfer files.

When the iPod is connected and rhythmbox opens:
0.11.5-0ubuntu6 : rhythmbox freezes then crashes.
0.11.5-0ubuntu7 : rhythmbox opens and displays my music library, along with the
"Apple iPod Music Player". File transfer to the iPod causes a crash.

Apport doesn't seem to catch this, but when I run rhythmbox from the
terminal:

(rhythmbox:12228): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_type_instance_get_private:
assertion `instance != NULL && instance->g_class != NULL' failed
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

If this is a separate bug, please let me know. The bug as originally
stated has possibly been fixed. Note: I'm using a new iPod shuffle.

[Bug 212098] Re: "easy" file sharing not notifying about logout/login

2008-05-30 Thread Hewus
I like the changes that have been made to samba; it really is point-and-
click to share things now. The only problem I have experienced with it
is this bug, which can be solved easily by a user logging out and in
again. While it would be great to see a fix, it's hardly a reason to
revert back to Gutsy imo.

[Bug 51255] Re: No 12-hour clock available in spanish language

2008-05-30 Thread Gonzalo Vera
Time ago I tried to gather some data for Mexico but couldn't. As a
mexican I can testify both formats are used, but understand the need for
hard data.

Anyway, Ubuntu 8.04 now offers the 12/24 hr. choice (24 being the
default), but when I select 12 hr. format nothing happens. Time is still
presented in 24 hr. format and upon session closing and reopening,
selection is again 24 hr.

Now it is a bug, not just a wish...

[Bug 236226] [NEW] gnome locations - city list sometimes to broad

2008-05-30 Thread Martin Kossick
Public bug reported:

When the second line of a city is too long, the calendar and the map
change their size so it is not possible to see everything.

This happens normally when I want to change my location to another city,
in which timezone at this moment is another day than in mine, so the
weekday is shown. The problem is that in this case there is not enough
space for the "Set" Button.

[Bug 236224] [NEW] When importing folder trees, f-spot duplicates photos that have a comma in their path name

2008-05-30 Thread kbit
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: f-spot

This is f-spot 0.4.3.1 on ubuntu hardy.

When importing photos from my manually maintained, folder-based photo
collection -- clicking "Import" and unchecking the "Copy to 'Photos' folder"
option (which should remember its last check state) -- pictures with a comma in
their name are imported over and over again.
So everytime I change something in my photo collection and reimport all
~/Bilder, another item is added for every photo with a path containing a comma
(","), no matter how many times it's already stored in f-spot's database.

This is not Bug #222136, since other paths contain spaces, too. Those pictures
are not duped.
Neither is it that bug about md5-summing files on import, to find duplicates
that are created by defining different paths for the same picture, like via
symlinks and so on, as all duplicates share the same path (as retrieved from
Context Menu » Copy image location).

Examples for duplicates:
~/Bilder/Freunde/Ich/2008/2008-04-20 Japanisches Kirschblütenfest und Eisessen
mit Conny, Christine, Carmen, Caro, Japan und Miss
Korea/dscf9288.jpg
~/Bilder/Freunde/Ich/2008/2008-04-20 Japanisches Kirschblütenfest und Eisessen

~/Bilder/Freunde/Ich/2008/2008-04-20 Japanisches Kirschblütenfest und Eisessen
mit Conny, Christine, Carmen, Caro, Japan und Miss
Korea/dscf9288.jpg
» Three times the same path.

More of those:
~/Bilder/Freunde/Ich/2008/2008-03-30 Abreisende, Friedhofsbesuch und Deich vor
Husum bei strömendem Regen/dscf8738.jpg
~/Bilder/Freunde/Ich/2008/2008-04-06 Mc Donalds mit Conny, Teresa, Caro, Jasmin

~/Bilder/Freunde/Ich/2008/2008-04-15 In der Mädelsumkleide mit Christine, Conny
und Annina, Stundenpläne und Flyer/dscf8951.jpg

Examples for non-duplicates:
~/Bilder/Freunde/Ich/2008/2008-04-16 Fahrt zur Audition in Arnhem/dscf8986.jpg
~/Bilder/Freunde/Ich/2008/2008-04-13 Im Tiergarten. Flocke war auch

~/Bilder/Freunde/Ich/2008/2008-04-26 Blumen im Fürther Stadtpark und
Raucherraum im Staatstheater Nürnberg/dscf9344.jpg

Note: ~/Bilder is a symlink to ~/storage/Bilder, where ~/storage is the
mount point of /dev/sda1. (Additional big storage drive for all kinds of
documents.)

Everything works fine with Gusty. Now after upgraded to Hardy, I can
reboot and log in fine the first time. But if I log out and then log
back in then one of these two will happen:

1/ After log out, I will get a black screen and the system is completely hung,
must turn off power.
2/ Sometime I got the log in screen back, but after logging in the system is
completely hung, must turn off power.

Has anyone else reported this? Please let me know what info do you need

[Bug 233918] Re: [vinagre] Keybinding changes don't persist across sessions

2008-05-30 Thread Scott Severance
I disagree for three reasons:

1) The GUI offers the option to be able to redefine keys. As long as the
option is there, it's a bug for it to not work.

2) Redefining keys is a standard part of GTK (or Gnome--I'm not sure
which). It's a handy feature that works everywhere else I've tried it. I
know that Gnome delights in removing useful features in the name of
simplification, but doing so is a Bad Thing.

3) I don't see how it's possible to design a full-featured VNC client
without at least one keyboard shortcut. Once you switch to fullscreen,
you have to have some way to get back out. Adding a button to switch
back to normal mode would either potentially get in the way or require a
VNC toolbar or something, which would break the fullscreen. Vncviewer
handled this situation well. If you hit F8, it would pop up a menu. One
of the items on that menu was one to send F8 to the remote machine.
(There are many thing that vncviewer does wrong, but this isn't one of
them.)

2008-05-30 Thread Lee Revell
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution was working perfectly for years. I installed the 5/29/2008

initializing NSS

(evolution:24521): camel-WARNING **: Failed to initialize NSS

And it exits.

it looks like it'll be even more unstable than "intrepid".. :o

2008-05-30 Thread Hebus95
This is my patch :
I modified 3 files

sj-play.c
sj-play.h
sj-main.c

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: sound-juicer

  Ubuntu 8.04
  sound-juicer 2.22.0-1ubuntu2

The arrow showing the song currently played disappears after having
selected "re-read disc" from the disc menu.
+
+ EDIT :
+ I made a patch that seems to correct the bug.
+
+ Caveat : This is just a *hack* and moreover I am **NOT** a programmer at
+ all. Just a python-hobbyist. Also be carefull ! :)
+
+ The problem is related to the function update_ui_for_album () in sj-
+ main.c which is not designed correctly (I think)
+
+ If you are interested in my patch, see the attached documents.

[Bug 147883] Re: Songs that have a space in their path are not imported automatically from watched music folders

2008-05-30 Thread Ryan Steele
I can confirm that updating to the version in hardy-proposed did not fix
the problem. After installing and running the update, I still got the
import errors on a fresh install of Hardy where I had already run
Rhythmbox and set the music folder. The gconf key
"/apps/rhythmbox/library_locations" was still set to
"/home/username/music". After manually selecting the folder it updates
the key to "file:///home/username/Music".

Either the install process needs to update this key or the app needs to
check if the key is incorrect.

[Bug 132612] Re: memory leak in evince?

2008-05-30 Thread Jørgen Kristoffersen
I can confirm this bug in Hardy Heron x86_64. A small scanned file
quickly uses over 400MB of memory. Also, Evince does
not free up all the memory when I close the offending document.

Case: (All listed memoryusage is only for the evince-process)
I open two non-scanned mostly text documents and browse through them.
Memoryusage: 44 MB.
I open a scanned purely image document, 8 pages 2.5 MB file: Memoryusage before
browsing: 257MB.
Memoryusage after browsing through the document: 373MB
Memoryusage after closing the scanned document, keeping the other two up: 177MB
Opening a new scanned document and browse it: 512 MB
Closing this again, still keeping the two text-documents up: 379 MB.

As you can see, the memoryusage escalate as I open and close new
documents.

Removing the keyboard shortcut is not a solution. If the keyboard
shortcut was the root problem then +Page_Up would also be

switching between VIM tabs has always worked correctly.

[Bug 195325] Re: gnome-terminal crashed with SIGSEGV in g_closure_invoke()

2008-05-30 Thread Savvas Radević
Have you tested it? It actually crashes silently now (no apport report
popping up).

1. Right-click in terminal -> edit current profile
2. Tab "colors"
3. Built-in scheme: custom (Text: #D8D8D8 Background: #00)
4. Change scheme to any, i.e. Green on Black

It doesn't crash always, but after it crashes it looks like to act
normally (no crash, colour scheme successfully changed)

In Ubuntu 8.04 amd_64 when I go to "Places:Network" and then click on

This truncation happens when "Viewed as Icons" or when "View as List",

this is a regression and a security issue, I'm rolling back. The removal

This isn't a duplicate of bug 223060. That bug is about sending keys

[Bug 236178] [NEW] Filtering on IMAP accounts causes message contents to be downloaded

2008-05-30 Thread Stoffel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I have a message filter whose only criterion is to check the "To" field.
All messages that match this rule are fully downloaded before actions
(in my case, moving them to another folder) are applied.

Setting "download all IMAP headers" option doesn't solve the problem.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 and Evolution 2.22.1-0ubuntu3.

[Bug 236147] Re: Doesn't display total

2008-05-30 Thread TheAJKMan
Okay, sorry, thought I said it more clearly. I've taken a screen shot as
requested, both of the calculator and of the spreadsheet I've working
from. THe problem I was trying to describe is that in totaling all those
little sums in the column marked "Net profit" I get a string of number
looking something like this
"675+398+254+318+146+268+352+555..." When I hit the enter button to get
my total, it then doesn't appear on the calculators screen at all.
However, should I then just hit any of the keys as if to do another
further calculation, the total I was expecting to see on the screen
suddenly appears. For example, the numbers I've listed above give me a
total of 2966, yet that total doesn't appear on the screen, if I then
just hit the "+" key again the "answer" appears as 2966+

Hope this helps some. It's not a major bug, just more of an annoyance.
The screenshot is attached.

Thanks
Adrian Kruger

[Bug 236171] [NEW] gnome-keyring-daemon and Evolution cause 100% CPU usage

2008-05-30 Thread Mike Vitale

[Bug 200337] Re: CD/DVD burning problem in hardy SOLVED --- BURN AT 2X

2008-05-30 Thread Dave
This problem is resolved for me. I'm not entirely sure how it came
about but it is reminiscent of the old SCSI representation issues I used
to see in Debian. After a set of updates the device (previously at
/dev/hdb ) failed entirely when trying to burn DVD or CD material. But
when I put in a video DVD I noticed that the device now comes up as
/dev/scd0 . I re-targeted my scripts to /dev/scd0 and everything works
fine.

It used to be the case that you had to have SCSI emulation on a CD burner for
cdrecord to work with it. This required a boot option in the lilo.conf like:
append="hdb=ide-scsi max_scsi_luns=1"

As of the 2.6 kernel this was no longer entirely necessary to burn a CD,
but often cdrecord would still give you trouble unless you did the scsi
emulation.

What's odd to me here is that I have no scsi emulation in my boot
options, the ide-scsi module is not loaded, whereas the scsi_mod is, and
this device, which I'm certain is hooked up to an IDE cable is showing
up as /dev/scd0 . I personally made no changes, just did the updates
and rebooted when the update manager said I needed to.

I'm pleased that the issue is resolved, but I'm a little disturbed that
Linux, which I thought I understood well, has now become slightly more
occult. I have an ide device showing up as scd0 and really no idea how
it got that way.

I haven't looked at it under Debian, but I believe the device is still
/dev/hdb under that system.

[Bug 200337] Re: CD/DVD burning problem in hardy SOLVED --- BURN AT 2X

2008-05-30 Thread Dave
PS - I do not need to restrict my burning to 2X speed. Auto works fine
and I've set it to 16X manually and everything is good.

[Bug 223060] Re: doesn't send some keys to the remote computer

2008-05-30 Thread Jonh Wendell
Fix committed upstream.

Now we have an option to disable all shortcuts. Makes total sense in a
VNC application.
