[Bug 249994] [NEW] evolution ignores photos draged&droped from f-spot
You have been subscribed to a public bug: 1) Ubuntu release: Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1 Release:8.04 2) Evolution: 2.22.3.1-0ubuntu1 F-Spot: 0.4.3.1-0ubuntu1 3) Expected behavior: When dragging photos from F-Spot to a new e-mail in Evolution, those photos should be attached 4) What happened instead: Sometimes photos don't get attached. This happens if the mail window is not focused correctly. It gets activated correctly when you drag the mouse over its symbol in the tasks panel, but when dragging the photo over to the mail window it doesn't react. If you then drop the photo nothing happens. ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- evolution ignores photos draged&droped from f-spot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/249994 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 163660] Re: Color Balance "default settings" on Totem screwed video playback
Confirming this bug still exists in Intrepid as of today's build. Firstly, the Hue setting should be set to zero not halfway on the slider by default. Secondly the other three colour settings always move slightly when the user selects to restore defaults even though the user had not changed these three since last reverting to defaults. I would think this should be a simple thing to fix - has this bug been reported upstream? [Bug 255931] Re: Confusing Media Player Open With
When this bug originally occured, I did not have totem-xine installed. It seems to be unecessary to install a totem gstreamer mime type desktop when Movie Player already has gstreamer installed by default and uses that. The "choice" between Movie Player and Movie Player (gstreamer) is no real choice as both load the gstreamer backend. Perhaps the desktop mime type can be removed to avoid situation all together or similar. [Bug 242618] Re: Nautilus and other gnome apps using incorrect umask for new directories
** Description changed: This affects Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) To replicate this bug, set umask in /etc/profile to something *less* restrictive than the default 022. I'm trying to use 002 in order to have users create group writeable files in an office collaboration environment. Log out and in again for the change to take effect. touch-ing and mkdir-ing from the command line should create files and directories with the correct permissions. Next, in Nautilus, try create a new empty file and a new folder. The empty file will have the correct permissions, whilst the directory will have permissions of 755. Note that changing the umask to something *more* restrictive, e.g. 077 seems to work correctly. There is a gnome bug filed at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=535124 that seems to be the cause of this problem, along with a suggested solution. I was unable to reproduce this on Feisty (7.04) + + TESTCASE: + - edit /etc/profile and set the umask to 002 + - restart the session + - create a new directory in nautilus, look at the permissions, notice that the group can't write there + - install the new libglib, restart the session + - create a new directory in nautilus, look at the permissions, notice that the group can write there now -- Nautilus and other gnome apps using incorrect umask for new directories https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242618 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 256048] [NEW] Loading PDF file does not complete
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince When I double click a PDF file in Nautilus, Evince opens and shows a window showing "Loading...". However, the loading never completes. When I close the window and double click the file again in Nautilus, Evince loads the file properly. This used to happen __sometimes__ in the past, but it recently occurrs virtually always. As far as I can tell this problem occurs with all sorts of PDF files only (i.e. it is not related to a specific file). Still no drag-and-drop in list-view in nautilus - this is especially frustrating in combination with file-roller. [Bug 247724] [NEW] Desktop intermittently black after login
You have been subscribed to a public bug: On hardy I have this intermittent problem on my laptop. It seems to happen anywhere between 1/3 and 2/3 of the logins, but is getting more frequent if anything. The desktop is black, and I've lost all my desktop shortcuts. The login screen itself is fine. Everything else is fine, including the panels above & below the desktop. Starting up windows is fine. Compiz effects work well too. If Compiz is disabled, problem still happens but desktop is monochrome browny orange instead. The following workarounds exist - logging out and in - "killall nautilus" in a terminal. After which the desktop comes back immediately, the mouse hangs and windows go grey for a few seconds, then my mouse comes back, and a File Browser window pops up in my home folder. - Removing every file in ~/.nautilus on reboot, apart from my desktop shortcuts, 'file:%2F%2F%2Fhome%2Ftony%2FDesktop.xml'. (I've put a find ... | xargs rm command in my rc.local) I spent many hours trying to figure out what was causing this, but it's a tedious process with all the reboots. My best guess when I discovered that the last workaround does the job with no ill effects, was that the file .nautilus/metafiles/x-nautilus-desktop is causing the problem. I have a bunch of Windows drives mounted, plus a USB drive plugged in (and I've noticed that linux distros sometimes object to having USB drives, and not just the one that's plugged into this machine), and I figure maybe Nautilus tries to mount one of these devices and hangs in the process. Sometimes you see CDs in this file as well. It seems to get recreated just fine if it's deleted, so I don't know what the point of it is, not that I'm any kind of expert. This is not severe for me, but is something that IMHO wouldn't help someone coming to ubuntu for the first time. rgds Tony. [Bug 241343] [NEW] GDM does not accept password, but remote and command line accept it
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I changed my password to a more secure password (10 Characters with numbers, capital and special characters like '!' and '_'). After logging out, I could not any longer log into my computer via gdm. However, I could login remotely via ssh and also via command-line (CTRL- ALT-F1). When I changed back to my old less secure password, I could again log in via gdm. I tried once again the more secure password, but again login via gdm failed. This appears to me as a bug, which I did not find on the web. I use Ubuntu 8.04, 64-bit version with gnome as Windows-manager.
