[Bug 146946] Re: Gnome settings daemon randomly does not work
Well, since set_touchpad_enabled() and other functions that were introduced by 08_extra_touchpad_options.patch also didn't contain any #ifdef HAVE_XINPUT sections, I thought it would be a bit overkill. It all depends on whether the extra_touchpad_options code will be sent upstream later. If that's the case, it should probably be cleaned up a little more anyway. Any idea if it's going to be sent upstream? As to the issue other people in this bug report have, when I apply my own fix, gnome-settings-daemon does startup now, but sooner or later I also get the dreaded "The program 'gnome-settings-daemon' received an X Window System error" message. :) So back to stack-tracing again... -- Gnome settings daemon randomly does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/146946 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 21178] Re: evolution chokes when a large txt file is in attachment
Evolution 2.22.3 will give up rendering after trying for some time and display a warning: "Evolution cannot render this email as it is too large to handle. You can view it unformatted or with an external text editor." You can create a simple test file with perl -e 'print "\n"x100' > /tmp/evil.txt The upstream bug is about evolution honoring "Content-Disposition: inline" for attachments. There are several issues here: * there is no option to ignore content-disposition:inline to prevent harmful attachments from displaying automatically (#229013) * rendering texts uses too much memory and cpu (1mb newlines => 50% ram) * after displaying the warning evolution continues to consume memory and does not free it until program exits -- evolution chokes when a large txt file is in attachment https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/21178 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 150193] Re: Remote Login via XDMCP is not working
I've had this problem in Hardy as well as in the Alpha of Intrepid Ibex. Whenever I try to connect to my file server I have no problems seeing the file server using the remote login manager and clicking on it starts the connection however I never get a login window to login into the file server machine, I just get the Grey background with the "X" as a cursor. I've looked at everything from firewalls, IVP6, I've even switched between kdm and gdm on the file sever to see if that was the issue. I've also walked through the guides several times to make sure that I had everything enabled correctly. I've had XDMCP working before but it was a very long time ago. When trying to upload a photo, we expect an authorization dialog, but nautilus only says "Authorization required", letting me skip or cancel. This works as expected in Feisty and in some other operating system. When we disable anonymous access to Gallery2, we can authenticate through Nautilus at mount time and uploading works fine. Tcpflow of a failed session shows the obvious: first a PROPFIND on the directory, server replies 207, then a HEAD on the file gets a 401, then the file gets put and the server replies again with a 401. When I try to read the gvfs source code, I see in daemon/gvfsbackenddav.c that at mount time authentication is governed by a function called "soup_authenticate_interactive". After a successful mount, the authentication handler gets switched to soup_authenticate_from_data. That sounds a little suspicious to me. I am hardly a programmer, so I have not yet gotten it to work when I play with the handlers, but maybe someone else can. I would have made this a duplicate of #206439, but the code between the various backends seems a little too separate for that. We have gvfs version 0.2.5-0ubuntu2 installed. ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gvfs refuses to authenticate to webdav share after mounting https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/260988 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 240571] Re: podcast default download not correct
I have the same problem. I just discovered that I can't play podcasts I have already downloaded after closing and reopening Rhythmbox because it is defaulting to /home/homefolder/. If I try to play them (without doubleclicking to redownload them) it gives the error: "Couldn't start playback Problem occurred without error being set. This is a bug in Rhythmbox or GStreamer." or a null error. The file isn't found because the podcast folder keeps resetting itself. Aaaarghh! This is a dealbreaker for rhythmbox. I set my podcasts to a shared folder where I use a chron task to keep it world-readable, since there is no use to everyone who uses the computer having to download the same, large mp3 files to their personal folders. Since this doesn't work, I'm going to have to go back to banshee and just learn to live with the incredibly slow reload times everytime you change panes. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot-3.png" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17052386/Screenshot-3.png -- podcast default download not correct https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/240571 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

If I doubleclick the entry it will say "Waiting" because it is going out and re-fetching the file, even though it has already been downloaded. [Bug 158259] [NEW] wide windows have messed up window decoration
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When making windows wider than the screen width (usually twice or three times as wide), the top window decoration is not updated correctly. (5) using the window decorator, widen the window by dragging from the left hand side of the screen to the right (6) repeat (4) and (5) several times (7) the window decoration at the top of the new wide window should now be visibly corrupt Why do I want to do this? [Bug 260939] [NEW] Window list missing items on second monitor
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Windows on my second monitor don't appear in the "Window List", although if I add the "Window Selector" I can find them, and Alt-Tab works ok too. This is a real nuisance, especially if I have a window minimised as they seem to disappear. I can't find any setting to correct this, nor anything on any forum indicating this has been seen before. I'm running Ubuntu 8.04, with ATI graphics drivers powering two monitors, and Compiz enabled. I think the graphics drivers are set to use "overlay" mode on the second screen, but I'm not entirely sure what that's needed for. It also looks like dragging windows from the second monitor to the first causes odd effects. I have evolution mail running all the time so it's the first program on my window list. If I drag a program from my second monitor to the first, it can occasionally cause evolution to disappear from the window list. I haven't been able to reliably reproduce that yet, so I'll add more information if I ever get to that stage.
