[Bug 153526] Re: segmentation fault when set as away by GUI
Philip Wyett : Thank you very much for your work on this! I forgot to mention you that hardy debdiff version number should have a appropriate version number for a Stable Release Update (generally followed by ~8.04.1). This is needed to avoid identical version numbers between different ubuntu releases. Also, I changed "hardy" for "hardy-proposed" in your distribution field in changelog. Many thanks again for the work! MOTU SRU : I've reviewed and tested this patch, it builds and works fine. The reasons why this debdiff could qualify for a SRU is that it fixes a already existing patch which caused crash when setting as away. I believe that the situation where the crash can be reproduced is very common, and justify the SRU. [Bug 262114] [NEW] Rhythmbox freezes after playing one song
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox All of a sudden, when I try to play music in RhythmBox, the program freezes after playing one song (the song never finishes, and the play count doesn't increment). Once it freezes, I can't do anything with it except minimize the program. If it was running minimized or behind another window, everything disappears (all the buttons and windows and songs, etc.); if it's in the foreground when it stops, I can still see everything, but nothing responds when I click on it (then if I minimize it or open something in front of it, everything disappears). To close it, I have to do a force quit (a dialog box appears which states that the song is not responding and I can either wait or force it to quit). When I relaunch the program, I can play one song, and then it dies on me again. Also, if I start playing a song, then double click on another song before the first song has finished, it does the same thing. The only other program I'm running is Firefox (unless something that I don't know about is running in the background), which has never been a problem in the past. I haven't had this problem before, as Rhythmbox used to work just fine. I haven't done anything weird to my system, as far as I know, and I haven't installed any updates recently. I'm using Ubuntu 7.10. Any help would be appreciated. [Bug 224291] Re: f-spot hangs on exit.
Often when I run eog, it opens a window, then hangs when trying to actually show an image. I also get several "atk-bridge-WARNING **: failure: no device event controller found." stracing the hung process shows it waiting for a futex(...) call. I see from Jeremy's debugging above that he has atk (assistive technologies) enabled, or mono enables it by default. Since I disabled atk, I no longer get the atk-bridge messages, and eog no longer lock up when I start it. (Sometimes, gimp would lock up for me on startup too, so have to see if this fixes it). If you have atk enabled (System -> Preferences -> Assistive Technologies), you can disable in on a per-terminal shell basis by unsetting the GTK_MODULES environment variable. [Bug 236376] Re: Show Desktop Button 2.22.1.3 is driving me bonkers
I'm reopening this bug because it IMO is a regression. This is confirmed a bug in the show desktop button. I believe it to be a regression because the proposed fix for this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/99595 wanted to have the show desktop button to be a toggle to show desktop, and then restore windows if clicked again. However, if you show the desktop, and then go and manually open other windows, clicking the desktop icon again should (and intentionally should) show the desktop, not RESTORE the previously hidden windows from a 30 minute ago hiding of them. Enabling desktop effects (compiz) causes this bug to show up, whereas, if you don't enable compiz, the bug does not show up. To reporduce: (compiz effects should be enabled to reproduce this, but its not required to have the special "show desktop" effect enabled, just standard default compiz) step1) have some windows opened up step2) click the "show desktop" button -> it will hide the windows and show the desktop to you step3) open some more windows manually, for instance go to places -> home step4) click the "show desktop" button again -> intentionally it should show the desktop, however it erroneously restores all the windows which were previoiusly minimized in step2. This is a regression IMO to 8.04 and i believe to be directly related to the fix which was applied to correct this bug (99595, which was only asking to restore the windows back to original mode if the desktop was already showing) if you feel that inappropriate then re-close it. -- Show Desktop Button 2.22.1.3 is driving me bonkers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/236376 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 99595] Re: Panel buttonshow desktop does not display windows again after activity
I believe the fix for this bug broke standard functionality now. After his proposed (Step 1), you do activity and LEAVE the windows you just created opened, when you click the show desktop button again it should actually show the desktop, not restore all the previously hidden windows. The show desktop shouldn't behave as a toggle for windows on or off, it should show the desktop first always, and then toggle back if no other activity has happened since then, but it shouldn't certaintly save a history of activity and then mess up the showing of the desktop in the future! -- Panel buttonshow desktop does not display windows again after activity https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99595 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 262071] [NEW] gstreamer-properties crashes with segmentation fault when testing video plugins
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-media Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron (64-bit Desktop) gnome-media: Installed: 2.22.0-0ubuntu3 Candidate: 2.22.0-0ubuntu3 Version table: *** 2.22.0-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status When running gstreamer-properties, I got the following output: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gstreamer-properties gstreamer-properties-Message: Skipping unavailable plugin 'artsdsink' gstreamer-properties-Message: Skipping unavailable plugin 'v4lmjpegsrc' gstreamer-properties-Message: Skipping unavailable plugin 'qcamsrc' gstreamer-properties-Message: Skipping unavailable plugin 'esdmon' Segmentation fault The segmentation fault occurs whenever I click "Test" for either video source or video sink settings. Sometimes a window containing the test video will appear for a split second before the segfault. Once in a while, I am able to test both functions without a crash, but only rarely. I get the best chance to avoid a crash if I issue a rm -rf ~/.gstreamer-0.10 first, but not always. This may be related, but not sure since I don't know if gstreamer is used for this or not, but - in the game Second Life, whenever I attempt to view streaming media, the program crashes with no useable error codes in the program logs. Attached is the output of gdb. ** Affects: gnome-media (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gstreamer-properties crashes with segmentation fault when testing video plugins https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/262071 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-media in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 236210] [NEW] Processes remain after log off
You have been subscribed to a public bug: After logging out of a GNOME session, processes owned by the now-logged- out user still remain and interfere with subsequent logons. [Bug 207700] Re: Doesn't allow bold/italic selection on Japanese fonts
Is that the same version as is currently in the Intrepid repository? That's the version I use: 2.4.7-1ubuntu1 The fonts in the xfonts-efont-unicode-ib package are listed as h14_bi.pcf, h16_b.pcf, etc., both by the Gimp and other programs, so I suppose that's because they don't have proper names. Selecting one of them has no effect on how text typed in the Text Editor dialog is displayed however. Not for text in Latin alphabet nor for text in kana or kanji. Selecting a different font (say, 'DejaVu Sans') only affects the Latin text, not the kana or kanji characters. 'DejaVu Sans Bold Oblique' would result in the Latin text becoming bold and italic, but the kana/kanji text remains unchanged. The font selector in for example the Gnome Control Center has a separate list of font styles (as opposed to including them in the font name). That means that when I select 'Italic' in that list, that style is applied to the text in the rendered sample, regardless of the characters used. This is what I would like to be able to do in the Gimp too. Does this explain the issue more clearly? [Bug 237786] Re: Hyperlinks within PDF files do not work properly in evince
I figured out it may have to do with how the PDF file was created. In the attachment, none of the links are activated - meaning, the mouse pointer does not change when I hover over the link, and the link is not clickable. I re-created page 3 of the first attachment using OpenOffice's "Export to PDF" function. With the resulting document, the links work; however, it only pops up an error stating "Failed to execute child process "firefox" (No such file or directory)".
