[Bug 152851] Re: Media Key + Rhythmbox + Screensaver
Sebastien, I have to disagree. This has been a continual annoyance of mine for years on multiple operating systems. Tonight, I was working in a remote office playing music. As I was wiring, the screensaver would activate and I would then be unable to change the song if I didn't like what came up. If the downside is security concerns, then this could be made optional. Or, I would suggest the following: In the case of the Play/Pause key, tell the application if the key was passed through the screensaver, so it would only honor a Pause, not a Play request. This allows one to skip songs and Pause the music, but not start up something. ** Changed in: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- Media Key + Rhythmbox + Screensaver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152851 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 279579] Re: MRO error crash when accessing the 'focus_widget' property of a file selection dialog
** Attachment added: test_pygtk_crash.py http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18289262/test_pygtk_crash.py ** Description changed: As a developer of LottaNZB (a PyGTK app), I recently gave our application a try on Ubuntu Intrepid, with the latest updates applied. The application unexpectedly crashed when opening the file selection dialog with the following error message: TypeError: Cannot create a consistent method resolution order (MRO) for bases ImplementorIface, CellEditable, Editable, Buildable ** ERROR:/build/buildd/pygobject-2.15.3/gobject/pygobject.c:920:pygobject_new_full: assertion failed: (tp != NULL) Aborted (core dumped) Trying to locate the problem, I dove into the code of Kiwi, the PyGTK framework we use in our application. I finally found the line of code which caused this issue. To my surprise it wasn't a Kiwi-specific problem, as I was able to reproduce it with pure PyGTK code. This crash happens whenever the developer tries to access the property 'focus_widget' of a gtk.FileChooserDialog or a dialog that contains a gtk.FileChooserWidget after the dialog's show() method was invoked. This issue can only be reproduced using Intrepid, but not using Hardy, that's why I assume that certain changes in python-gtk or python-gobject since Hardy cause the error. The only way to prevent the application from crashing is to ensure that this property isn't accessed (when using Kiwi by overwriting the check_focus method). I strongly hope that this bug can be ironed out before the Intrepid release. - Test cases are attached. + Test case is attached. -- MRO error crash when accessing the 'focus_widget' property of a file selection dialog https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279579 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to pygtk in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 200337] Re: CD/DVD burning problem in hardy
I can understand Andy's frustration. I went through the same aggravation several months back. This is the main reason I'm still using Gutsy. I can also understand Sebastien's point that there are limited resources and a ton of bugs to be fixed. All of the developers work goes much appreciated. But... Realistically, optical media drives have been around for over a decade, maybe closer to two. I think the most disappointing thing is the priority level of this bug/bugs. I find it hard to believe that there are over ten thousand more 'important' issues than this. I would consider this issue the same priority if a bunch of video cards, hard drives, key boards or another major devices just stopped working on a LTS release. What's the point of having a nice office suite if you can't back your work up on a CD? What's the sense of having firewire card support to import home video if you can't put it on a DVD? What's the point of importing photos from your camera if you can't put them on a CD to send to family in the next time zone? What's the point of pirating movies off the internet if you can't put them on them on a DVD? (Ok, the last one was a joke, but you see my point). I definitely think this issue should not have a low/none-existent priority. I would like to upgrade from Gutsy as some point. On the other hand, I guess there's lots of other distros out there. [Bug 191027] Re: Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument
Observing all the comments, something poped up in my mind. Might it not be GDM that is preventing Pulse to startup correctly? See, if there is no pulseaudio running and GDM tries to make its startup sounds (1 before login, 1 after) it will probably use ALSA, and if it locks up alsa while pulse is starting, pulse will not be able to really start, because it could not get a hole of the sound system. Does that make sense to you guys? I don't what libasound2 or anything like that might help, cause pulseaudio is working. It just doesn't startup correctly. Re: [Bug 274085] Re: Please update Ekiga to 3.00
Guillaume Desmottes [2008-10-07 8:33 -]: That's not the Ubuntu team team which is to blame but the Ekiga one. They didn't follow the GNOME schedule as they didn't release devloppement versions during this cycle so the needed depencies were not packaged and Ekiga 3 was not extensively tested in Intrepid. I humbly ask to stop this assignment of blame. There was an upstream beta release earlier on [1]. The simple fact is that we currently have no Ubuntu developer who owns ekiga and keeping it up to date, so it's really not just upstream's fault. That the release came very late is an unfortunate timing, but we cannot expect the world to synchronize to Ubuntu's release cycle.
