[Bug 279569] Re: Screennresolution applet no longer asks for confirmation of new resolution settings
it's a very stupid default behavior. I've experienced this on archlinux too, so it's probably a gnome upstream modification. [Bug 124326] Re: Shrinking to applet/notification area should have its own title bar button
I really don't think this makes any sense for most apps. I don't think 'Always on Top' makes sense for most apps, but I love the fact that when I need it, it's there. I don't see anything wrong with providing a new, unobtrusive feature for people to play with. I guess we are thinking about different things, because I would like all windows to have 'minimize to tray' functionality, instead of simply providing more control over the windows/programs which already have this. Either the default paper size for your print queue is set to A3 or you select A3 paper size when sending the job. Michael: I definitely agree with a. But precisely because there's work to get out of this mess, I'd like to separate issues so that we can sort out the ones which correspond to Intrepid, where the DVD playback system is completely different in Totem. If you want informations about that, see bug 260765, and http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/wiki/DvdPlayback. The new GStreamer plugin is called resindvd and has been blogged about this summer. It's not considered as stable for now, and only included in gsteeamer- plugins-bad (itoften breaks DVD playback when used). Toni: It could be nice to browse all duplicates here, but it can be a real pain. I'd rather wait for new bugs to be reported in Intrepid and Jaunty, since it's only there that we'll be able to improve resindvd. I don't expect upstream developers to work much on issues present in the old plugin. Still, totem-specific issues may still be present when using resindvd, so it may be good to find them... -- DVD playing is not working correctly with totem-gstreamer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41335 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 285815] Re: Backlight keeps getting darker on MacBookPro
I am seeing this same bug on my MacBook Pro 5,1 with Ubuntu 8.10 using the mactel-support ppa with all relevant packages from the PPA installed and kernel modules loaded. This includes the updated package of gnome- power-manager from the PPA, and the only way to fix the problem is to disable the 'Use ambient light to adjust LCD brightness' option in g-p-m. [Bug 296585] Re: Archive Mounter action should open mounted folder
Because nautilus/file-roller takes forever to view, then extract a 67gig tar file. I decided to mount that tar file using Archive Mounter, and then copy the archives contents to the desired destination. However, as this report mentiones, when I right-clicked on the tar file and then selected Open with Archive Mounter, nothing appeared to happen. At bare minimum, I'd at least expect a notification window to inform me that my tar file has been mounted to the file system, and provide me some lead way as to where I could start navigating the archive's file system. But Ideally, the nautilus window should go directly to that mounted tar displaying its root directory's contents. The is a usability bug for sure; it is very non-intuitive to not indicate an output for an action, and furthermore, not to automate the obvious next step (of opening that mounted archive you've just mounted). -- Archive Mounter action should open mounted folder https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296585 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 311775] Re: rhythmbox crashed downloading podcast
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using /usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. If you are really unable to send this report with apport, then please reopen this bug and explain what does not work. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- rhythmbox crashed downloading podcast https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311775 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 99276] Re: User and Groups does not inform user that manual UID already exists and create user groups.
i have the same problem... although i did not change the uid or anything else. just the password fields. the group of the new user gets added: grep test /etc/group test:x:1005: testu:x:1006: (i tried two times... thought maybe test is a reserved word the first time) but no user in passwd and no home dir. i did add users on the console before, maybe that complicated things? no matter what went wrong.. its just a WTF NONO!!! to not do any error handling, im really pissed. -- User and Groups does not inform user that manual UID already exists and create user groups. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99276 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 311860] [NEW] Auto-hibernate due to inactivity results in a resumed session with hanged gnome-power-manager preventing the system from going into hibernate again
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager 1) Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) 2) 2.24.0-0ubuntu8.1 3) I expected the system to resume from hibernate properly without outputting error messages or hanging gnome-power-manager. 4) I am able to manually hibernate the system from the GNOME menu and resume without issue. However, if the system hibernates automatically after a period of inactivity, when the system is resumed I see the below error message. In addition, it appears that gnome-power-manager has hanged because selecting hibernate from the GNOME menu does nothing. In addition, when I attempt to shut down I am warned that gnome-power- manager is not responding. Killing gnome-power-manager and restarting it restores hibernate functionality.
