[Bug 30867] Re: nautilus shows drive labels instead of volume labels

2009-01-08 Thread damon raphael
Re:could you please also try to reproduce this with intrepid?

I did a dual boot (with Windows XP-Media Edition) clean install of
Intrepid for AMD64 - 64 bit version - on an HP computer with dual
processors 2 weeks ago. The NTFS/HPFS Windows partition was correctly
mounted and labeled.

I upgraded my Hardy i386 Desktop version to Intrepid yesterday by net
install. Unfortunately, the previously noted bug persists in i386
Intrepid Ibex. I see a vertical stack of 5 identical dirive icons each
labeled by drive storage capacity.

Bummer!!

Thanks Sebastien. Just as one final note... Will it come up in Hardy
 backports... Or Intrepid only?

We definitively aim for hardy-proposed and then hardy-updates, so that
everyone will get it. Intrepid, too, of course.

[Bug 228370] Re: vino-server doesn't accept IPv4 connections when local only is checked

2009-01-08 Thread Sebastien Bacher
the number of people in the team is quite slow, most of those
contributing are volunteers which give and hand when they want and there
is over an hundred GNOME packages to work on in several distribution
version, there is just lot of work, the bug could be fixed in hardy but
it would require somebody working on the backport, there has not been a
lot of user traction to get this one fixed so it's low on the stack, you
are welcome to work on the update though

[Bug 303470] Re: Recording no longer works in Intrepid for Asus A8Jm (ICH7 snd_hda_intel)

2009-01-08 Thread Donatas Glodenis
I finally did get the microphone to work in my Asus A8F by installing
the current development snapshot of alsa (post 1.0.18a thing - the
current stable 1.0.18a version did not do the trick).

To install the current (2008-01-08) snapshot I used a script posted in
this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=962695

I lost all sound once after the upgrade of alsa, but generally it seems
to work ok. Good luck anyone trying it.

[Bug 242478] Re: Nautilus can not display FTP quite often

2009-01-08 Thread Koopee
I just bumped this kind of problem with a certain ftp server myself.

Nautilus won't connect to the site and shows Sorry, could not display
all the contents of / on $myserver: Could not connect to host

I can connect to the server with command line FTP as well as with
Filezilla.

Many other ftp servers work ok with Nautilus, though.

Should this bug be re-opened? I would like very much for all ftp servers
to work out-of-the-box. Or there should be more instructions included in
the error message.

the bug seems similar to bug #285879, what jockey version do you use?
Ccing Martin there who maintains jockey and could get an idea about the
issue, you should get asked before the installation and jockey should
not try to install a driver which doesn't work on your configuration

[Bug 181915] Re: page scroll causes loss of context to the reader

2009-01-08 Thread Syncopated
I have a request for the following feature that may ameliorate the
problem.

To help the user find the context, I suggest the following behavior:
Right after scrolling finishes, a horizontal line that runs across the
page flashes briefly that is located at the part of the document that
before scrolling was at the bottom of the viewport. This feature should
be optional, off course. Another approach is to instantly darken the
part of the document before the context-line upon scrolling and then
gradually fade it in over one second or less.

I don't think that scrolling exactly by the viewport height is going to
very user-friendly, because sometimes the bottom edge of the viewport
cuts across a text line, which can't be read because it's only partially
visible -- the scrolling should be for slightly less than a page.

[Bug 301201] Re: Won't play music after switching CDs

2009-01-08 Thread chris dock
I am seeing similar behavior for rhythmbox.

after listing to a CD I eject the old one and put in a new one.
am prompted should i have rythmbox play the cd ( i say yes )
the cd is not highlighted as source but when selecting it I cannot
play it.

The interesting thing is if I choose a radio station ( it works ), then
i can change back to listen to the CD.

my environment is as follows

lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.10
Release: 8.10

uname -a
Linux dock-laptop 2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20 21:57:00 UTC 2008 i686
GNU/Linux

apt-cache policy rhythmbox
rhythmbox:
  Installed: 0.11.6svn20081008-0ubuntu4.2
  Candidate: 0.11.6svn20081008-0ubuntu4.2

Not sure if this is interesting or not, but I did a fresh install of

[Bug 312997] Re: brightness adjustment doesn't work correctly

2009-01-08 Thread Vojtěch Látal
Hi Lupine, I'm attaching gpm.log, as you requested. But I think that g-p-m
isn't the source of this problem.
I tried to downgrade gnome-power-manager to 2.24.0-0ubuntu8 (from
2.24.0-0ubuntu8.1), but the problem persists.
I also upgraded linux-backports-modules-2.6.27-11-generic (2.6.27-11.10) to
2.6.27-11.11 and the problem still persists.
And finally downgraded xserver-xorg-video-intel to 2:2.4.1-1ubuntu10 (from
2:2.4.1-1ubuntu10.1) - none success.

What else should I try to downgrade?
Thanks in advance.

[Bug 315062] [NEW] When the browser is enabled jumps back and forth when lower items are selected.

2009-01-08 Thread Shawn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

When the browser is enabled jumps back and forth when lower items are
selected. For example if the Browser pane is selected, when I scroll
all the way to the bottom and double click the last item, the browser
jumps back to the top for a quick sec and then comes back. The selected
radio station still plays but that blip is annoying.

[Bug 315077] [NEW] rhythmbox itlsef prevents iPod from ejecting

2009-01-08 Thread musically_ut
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Its a rather silly issue.

When I try to unmount my iPod via rhythmbox, it tells me that the iPod
is being used. A quick 'lsof' revealed the following:

utka...@utkarsh-laptop:/media$ lsof | grep MUSICALLY_U
rhythmbox 6104utkarsh 22r REG 8,16 349991530048
/media/MUSICALLY_U/iPod_Control/Music/F69/04 Scar Tissue.m4a (deleted)
--

Apparently it was rhythmbox itself which was holding on to a file on the
iPod which I had deleted; after playing another file from my local music
collection, I was able to unmount the iPod easily.

Is anybody else also facing a similar problem?
