[Bug 310295] Re: Totem cannot play second audio stream
Hi, thanks for replying. The only way I can think of to _actually_ reproduce this issue, it is to upload a sample file of the movie in question. http://tinyurl.com/7lq2cc To reproduce it: Download the sample file and execute it and this bug should be reproduced (at least on the latest Jaunty) And just like I've told before. This issue appeared with Jaunty Alpha 2. Hope that helps. [Bug 315273] [NEW] Nautilus CIFS mount with many files in a folder takes very long parse time
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I've been strugling with this annoying problem long time. Nautilus has serious issue with just parsing mounted cifs shares if they contain more than say 1000+ files (in a folder). There is always 15+ seconds waiting time if you hit cifs share with large amount of files, depending on files the time is bigger just to show the content. In between, while nautilus tries to parse them (not thumbnail preview) just show them, system loses all mounted network resources mounted volumes on desktop (also nautilus feature) - Show mounted volume on desktop) untill directory listing is shown in nautilus. I am most defenitely sure that this is nautilus issue, since I've switched to Thunar in my Gnome this problem momentaliry disappeared, now I am not using nautilus as my main file manager, since nautilus draws my desktop too, I can't get rid of it completely. [Bug 315830] [NEW] Broken keyboard shortcuts on Sony Vaio VGN-NS10J/S
Public bug reported: System: Ubuntu 8.10 (AMD64) on Sony Vaio VGN-NS10J/S. - uname -a: Linux newton 2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20 22:15:32 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux - Problem: 1) The laptop has two mute button combinations - the first is Fn+F2, which works perfectly out-the-box; the second is a dedicated button, which does not. I have attempted to assign this key using the GUI app. (System | Preferences | Keyboard Shortcuts), however this lists the key as XF86MonBrightnessDown and pressing the key acts as the name describes - it lowers the screen brightness. It therefore seems that there is a bug that maps these two keys to the same logical name. 2) Suspend works correctly when using the power icon (top right), however when I assign a shortcut to suspend, again using the GUI app. as described in (1), it does not. The key I assign is identified as XF86Launch2 - this is the AV MODE button, normally used to switch output device (when Windows is installed). I have verified that the AV MODE key generates key-press events by assigning it to mute audio. ** Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Broken keyboard shortcuts on Sony Vaio VGN-NS10J/S https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/315830 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-desktop in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 313379] Re: Shares disappear from Nautilus weekly
More info please Do you have a central server? If so which OS; Window, Linux or other? Does the temporary fix work? Open a terminal window su your password cd /etc/init.d ./networking restart At that point can the machine suddenly see the rest of the network again? Also can i confirm that only 1 machine at a time may suddenly start 'playing up' by not being able to access the network or ping or anything but that while it's playing up Windows and Linux machines are still able to access data on the machine? (or does Windows just pretend to be able to see it but gives an error message when you actually try to access shared data on it?) Also confirming that all the Ubuntu machines suffer from this at some point or other with no discernible pattern. Aside from that all i can suggest is unlikely to help but ;- 1. Pick a problematic machine at random and ensure the cables wires are firmly in place and not worn bare somewhere the user might brush against. Check the network card is firmly in its slot (if the side panel comes off easily). 2. Upgrade a machine at random to Ubuntu 8.10, or wait 3 months to try with 9.04. A dual-boot choice with 8.04 and 8.10 might be less worrying to setup. Actually i've always had more joy with 8.04 so i seriously doubt this is the cause. The bug-reporting tool should be working properly again now. It was glitchy for a few hours on the day you posted, classic timing - i've never known that to happen before. [Bug 293207] Re: Conversion of existing mailboxes fails silently
I too have this evolution migration problem. I backed up my settings on a Fedora 8 x86_32 paltform and performed a bare metal install of Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 x86_64 on the same hardware. Started evolution, started a restore from the backup, and it did the silent fail scenario. Reading this report, I added the source for the ppa patches, updated my machine and stopped the background tasks ( # evolution --force- shutdown). Removed the .evolution directory and started evolution then proceeded to restore the fedora.generation backup file; again it unpacked the backup file, started converting the folders, then failed silently. I then opened a console window, and started evolution - again it failed, but I got error messages: ** jsc...@vserv:~$ evolution (evolution:19600): camel-WARNING **: camel_exception_get_id called with NULL parameter. Re: [Bug 310268] Re: gconftool-2 crashed with signal 7
Pedro I have been unable to run valgrind. I an a new Ubuntu user, coming from Windows with no previous Linux experience. My bug report was in response to an automated message. The problem arose when I was trying to re-install Ubuntu after trying - unsuccessfully - to remove the entire Evolution package which I do not expect to use. The crash resolved itself when the reset button was pressed. Sorry I cannot make a more useful response - except to say that I am using Ubuntu and will not go back to Windows. Hugh 2009/1/8 Pedro Villavicencio pe...@ubuntu.com Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please try to obtain a valgrind log following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind and attach the file to the bug report. [Bug 209520] Re: SMB error: Unable to mount location when server configured with security=share
Yes, it most certainly does effect Debian as well. My desktop has this problem (Ubuntu Intrepid) and I cannot connect to my D-Link DNS-323 NAS unless I mount it manually from the command prompt. I did try all of the suggestions here. I can see the server, I can see the share, I get prompted for log in info, and then I see empty folder with the message about not being able to display contents of the share. My Laptop, running Debian Etch worked fine until I did some apt-pinning to pull newer stuff in from Lenny Sid. I ended up needing to pull Gnome in from Lenny. And now I'm having the same results - cant access the smb share unless mounted via command prompt. For now, I'm watching and trying new things as they come up - until it's fixed I'm just using the ftp service on the DNS-323 (slightly inconvenient, but it works) -- SMB error: Unable to mount location when server configured with security=share https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/209520 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

You have been subscribed to a public bug: I think this bug may be in nautilus somewhere. Prerequisites: Have another package manager open and in use. And not have the packages installed that are needed for file sharing. If you open nautilus and right click a folder. Go to 'Sharing Options' and share the folder. If you did not have the samba packages installed it will prompt you to download them. Because another app has a lock on it, it will tell you something along the lines of it's busy try later. [Bug 315373] Re: nautilus segfaults on insertion or removal of removable media
I have this bug as well. I have noticed it at other times as well (not just adding and removing media.) Once I installed gvfs- dbgsym=1.1.3-0ubuntu2 the problem went away. In the ubuntu forums another person has reported the same result. -- nautilus segfaults on insertion or removal of removable media https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/315373 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 285815] Re: Backlight keeps getting darker on MacBookPro
Although I am happy that you are looking into this problem, I think the patch is doing the wrong thing: 1. It is introducing more state to the desktop setup - it should be possible to determine the right scaling automatically. 2. The scaling factor in the patch is integral - this is causing all sorts of hysteresis problems, and is the source of the light sensor problem in the first place, since HAL does not treat fractional percent in the dbus interface. Continuing along that track cannot be good. The problem with the low light sensor reading seems to have to do with the new macbooks, starting with MBP41, via MBA11 to the MAP51. Evidently the interface changed, since the new models report a SMC key length of 10, compared to the old 6. Most likely the applesmc_light_show() could be fixed for those models, since the current code only reports values for the left sensor, although two sensors are present. -- Backlight keeps getting darker on MacBookPro https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/285815 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
