[Bug 336150] [NEW] Unable to input Unicode with Ctrl-Shift-U after upgrading to jaunty
Public bug reported: It used to be possible to input Unicode characters by typing Ctrl- Shift-U, the hexadecimal Unicode codepoint and a space/enter in Gtk programs. For instance, to input π one could type Ctrl-Shift-U, 03C0, enter. It seems Ctrl-Shift-U is now passed to the application itself to handle. [Bug 336174] [NEW] Evince gives no hint while processing a complex print
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince When printing a large or complex document, it can happen that evice needs a lot of time for processing the document, before the data is sent into the printer queue. During this time there is no hint that something is going on in the background. I first thought the print got lost and started another one until I found evince heavily working in the process monitor. However most users will not be able to relate these sources of information. Maybe a solution could be to show preparing print somewhere in the toolbar or statusbar or as an overlay on the document. [Bug 335623] Re: Intrepid - Jaunty Alpha5 : can not mark 'ubuntu-desktp' for upgrade
@Matthias Klose, This is not a mirror issue; I got the packages directly from launchpad librarian. As I've already said, amd64 has not been transitioned correctly. The amd64 python-launchpad-integration .deb created from the build you linked has the following Depends: libc6 (= 2.2.5), libglib2.0-0 (= 2.12.0), liblaunchpad-integration1 (= 0.1.17), python ( 2.6), python (= 2.5), python-central (= 0.6.11) It only includes /usr/lib/python2.5 stuff, not python2.6 stuff. The i386 p-l-i .deb created by https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/launchpad-integration/0.1.22/+build/878959 has the following Depends: Depends: libc6 (= 2.1.3), libglib2.0-0 (= 2.12.0), liblaunchpad-integration1 (= 0.1.17), python ( 2.7), python (= 2.5), python-central (= 0.6.11) It includes both /usr/lib/python2.5 and /usr/lib/python2.6 stuff. -- Intrepid - Jaunty Alpha5 : can not mark 'ubuntu-desktp' for upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335623 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to launchpad-integration in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 336184] [NEW] 'operation not supported in backend' when burning a cd over the network
Public bug reported: I have a smb network share mounted in the places menu via the connect to server wizard. If i insert a blank cd and open it and then drag files from the network share into the cd window in order to burn them I get 'Operation not supported in backend'. This message is meaningless. If i try the same thing with brassero it segfualts. This process works fine if instead I go into home, show hidden files and then drag files from the .gvfs folder. It's worth noting that the drag and drop from a network share to the cd will work fine on a windows xp box - it copies the files to a temp directory on the local disk and then burns them. I view this as either a code bug where drag and drop burning should work or a usability issue where at the very least the error message should say something like 'unable to burn files from a network share please copy them to a local drive first' ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- 'operation not supported in backend' when burning a cd over the network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/336184 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 328167] Re: gnome-keyring-daemon eating 100% CPU at login in Jaunty
I landed here because of a similar issue. Maybe the same as Francois Rigaut describes. It happens when doing ssh. I have ssh-agent running, which should supply the key to ssh. Some times setting up an ssh connection hangs. And the only solution to make ssh work again is to remove the environement variables that tell ssh to ask an agent for the keys. Now this happened again, and I had a look at top and noticed gnome- keyring-daemon at 100%. Next time I reboot I will have a look on gnome-keyring to see if it goes to 100% just in interaction with ssh/ssh-agent. Is there any mean I can gather information useful to you to locate the problem? $ lsb_release -dr Description:Ubuntu jaunty (development branch) Release:9.04 $ uname -a Linux garfield.inodes.ch 2.6.28-8-generic #26-Ubuntu SMP Wed Feb 25 04:28:54 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux $ apt-cache policy gnome-keyring gnome-keyring: Installed: 2.25.91-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 2.25.91-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 2.25.91-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://ch.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status -- gnome-keyring-daemon eating 100% CPU at login in Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/328167 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Furthermore, the Codec selection in the current package in Jaunty is rather limited - especially lacking are h263 and h264 from the video codecs. Version 3.2 adds new, higher quality audio codecs. -- Please update ekiga to version 3.0.2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/329631 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to ekiga in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 336268] [NEW] Keystroke buffer outruns window scrolling
Public bug reported: Window scrolling speed is limited on some hardware and X configurations. The keystroke buffer stores a number of strokes, so that if a user holds the 'up' and 'down' arrow keys the window keeps scrolling after the key is released. The window is locked and might even grey out until scrolling catches up with the keystroke buffer. Ubuntu looks crusty and feels unresponsive with this behaviour. A suggested improvement is to make window scrolling sensitive to change in keystroke number rather than explicit number of keystrokes, or to detect when the arrow keys are being held down. This behaviour has been noted with Ubuntu Intrepid on a Sony Vaio PCG- V505DX notebook, lspci and Xorg.0.log attached. ** Affects: meta-gnome2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Keystroke buffer outruns window scrolling https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/336268 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to meta-gnome2 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 27109] Re: nautilus uses 100% cpu after closing a ssh session
I think that this is not right way to handle a bug that has been reported since three years and through even more distros releases. I've just landed here for the first time since I'm using nautilus for sftp and was worried by this strange cpu activity even - and especially - after the download would end, fearing that my transfers could not have been cleanly closed. True that ie used in the past (more than a year ago) sftp and didn't recall this behaviour. I can reproduce at any tine: just open a remote sftp window and transfer (I've dragged the directory from my local directory window and dropped). Can see any other special setup that could influence, except that I 'm running a SSVNC session thus having two ssh sessions. Also I'm using key authentication, in case this matters. -- nautilus uses 100% cpu after closing a ssh session https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/27109 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 27109] Re: nautilus uses 100% cpu after closing a ssh session
Just another hint that just happened: I've tried to unmount the sftp folder and the desktop was frozen (only, other app widows would work normally) then all icons simply disappeared. Killing the sftp process made reappear the desktop icons. So maybe it a problem rather linked to the display of the sftp volume on the desktop. In the past I had complain to no avail to the rather lousy implementation of this desktop icon, which bring you back to root directory after first login, so maybe it's more a dbus issue or whatever. -- nautilus uses 100% cpu after closing a ssh session https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/27109 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I've been using Intrepid since it's release date and this has not been an issue. [Bug 183514] Re: [hardy] seahorse agent no longer asks for the passphrase
I'm running in Gnome. I installed KDE yesterday evening (I didn't try to send email while in KDE) and when I went back to Gnome (my default display manager) the issue happened. Anyway... When I put the file back, I get the error message again. When I run the ps -ef | grep agent I get the following output: 1002 9175 9116 0 14:24 ?00:00:00 /usr/bin/gpg-agent --daemon --sh --write-env-file=/home/deathmoon/.gnupg/gpg-agent-info-deathmoon-desktop /usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session /usr/bin/pulse-session /usr/bin/seahorse-agent --execute x-session-manager 1002 9179 1 0 14:24 ?00:00:00 /usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session /usr/bin/pulse-session /usr/bin/seahorse-agent --execute x-session-manager 1002 9195 9116 0 14:24 ?00:00:00 /usr/bin/seahorse-agent --execute x-session-manager 1002 9518 9494 0 14:25 pts/000:00:00 grep agent The 90gpg-agent file contains the following: : ${GNUPGHOME=$HOME/.gnupg} GPGAGENT=/usr/bin/gpg-agent PID_FILE=$GNUPGHOME/gpg-agent-info-$(hostname) if grep -qs '^[[:space:]]*use-agent' $GNUPGHOME/gpg.conf $GNUPGHOME/options test -x $GPGAGENT { test -z $GPG_AGENT_INFO || ! $GPGAGENT 2/dev/null; }; then if [ -r $PID_FILE ]; then . $PID_FILE fi # Invoking gpg-agent with no arguments exits successfully if the agent # is already running as pointed by $GPG_AGENT_INFO if ! $GPGAGENT 2/dev/null; then STARTUP=$GPGAGENT --daemon --sh --write-env-file=$PID_FILE $STARTUP fi fi -- [hardy] seahorse agent no longer asks for the passphrase https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/183514 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to seahorse in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
