[Bug 340649] [NEW] When invoked from a remote X display, Rhythmbox streams only OGG files
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox Rhythmbox works perfectly when invoked from the local X display of the system it's running on, and it plays and streams all the file types for which I have codecs. However, when I open it up in an X window on a remote display, it plays any local file, regardless of type, but it will stream only OGG files. Attempting to play an MP3 internet stream produces this error: Couldn't start playback Could not determine type of stream I ran a GTK stack trace but got only ordinary thread reports. Rhythmbox does not crash on the error. I can't tell if this is a Rhythmbox problem, something in gstreamer or some configuration weirdness in X11. I'm running Ubuntu 8.04. You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have Ubuntu 8.10 on my machine with an ASUS X-Fi DX sound card. When I try to change the volume with the slider the range is compressed into the top 25% of the bar. That is to say, when the slider is from 0%-75% the volume is at 0. At 100% the volume is at 100, and between 75%-100% the volume ranges from 0-100. Needless to say this is very frustrating as this problem causes me to lose granularity in my volume control. I basically only have the ability to set it to volumes 0, 25, 50, 75, 100 (due to the slider locking in place at certain intervals). ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Volume control unresponsive over full range https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/339029 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Well, as I said I've never done this before so here goes nothing. I've tried to attach a patch that applies to MenuEditor.py. I started from alacarte-0.11.9 obtained from apt-get source alacarte. You have been subscribed to a public bug: (system: Ubuntu 8.10, i386, GNOME Desktop) Hallo, recently I started to play around with WebDAV shares. I'm running an apache webserver with DAV modules enabled on a remote mashine. Access seems to work an has been tested with different client. First Problem: Using Gnome's "connect to server" tool it is not possible to connect to a DAVS (webdav over SSL) server. At least, I was not able to do so. Second Problem: Unsing Nautilus I managed to connect my server using the URI "davs://server/path". The remote share is mounted and nautilus showes the content. Additionally a new icon appears on desktop representing the mountpoint. When I try to use that icon I always get the error "Not a WebDAV enabled share". I have to unmount this share (icon disappeares) and mount it again from scratch (or use a bookmark). An "ls ~.gvfs" on command-line gives another error message, namely "Input/output error ... WebDAV on Servername". What peace of software does all the magic (package)? So far I don't know. All that makes handling of davs shares very unpleasant. [Bug 340845] [NEW] Evince segfaults upon opening "special" PDFs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince I have 14 PDFs which cause Evince to reliably segfault. These PDFs originated with the IRS and the California taxing authorities. They were stripped of their metadata using some prototype code. Evince segfaults almost immediately when opening them. They may not be entirely compliant PDFs, but it is worth noting that Adobe Reader can open and display them just fine, without even an error message. I will attach three of the files -- if anybody wants to see the rest or to have the originals, I can attach those as well. The originals are "PDF-1.6" format, but the stripped ones are "PDF-1.3". It is possible that 1.6 features are appearing in the 1.3 PDFs -- just a guess. [Bug 340834] [NEW] Power Manager misnames "External power" source as "AC power"
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager === The Issue === The Power Manager applet in Gnome says my computer is on "AC" power when it's plugged in. All computers run on DC power, just that most desktops convert the power they're fed to DC inside of their power supplies. Saying the computer is on "AC" power to me seems like an annoying misnomer. Laptops will essentially always have a power cord that includes an AC to DC adapter in the middle of the cord - so the laptop is fed DC and has no awareness of anything to do with AC power. === My Suggestion === I'd just use the terms "External" and "Internal" power - this is somewhat ambiguizing, however it's about as accurate as you can generally get for this sort of thing. * Yes, I know I'm being picky, but hey, it's not like being accurate in our choice of terms here costs us money. Besides, it's not crippling, go ahead and ignore me if you guys like - only thing is, I think it kind of hurts Ubuntu slightly to have a misnomer like that, or at least, it would in the eyes of certain weird people. ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ac external gnome-power-manager ** Summary changed: - Power Manage incorrectly external power "AC" + Power Manager misnames "External power" source as "AC power" ** Tags added: ac external gnome-power-manager -- Power Manager misnames "External power" source as "AC power" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/340834 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

i see this clearly as a bug, see newly added duplicates. important comments from there: i have deleted my templates folder and nautilus does not handle this very well. clicking on "Go->Templates" brings me to my home folder. (that is at least consistent with XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR="$HOME/" line from .config/user-dirs.dirs) however this setup is not very useful because i most certainly do not want to have my templates in my home folder (or put it the other way round: all my files as a template). and secondly, it does not work, i.e. even the files that are in my home folder are not available as templates... i suggest that a non-existent template dir should not be changed to $HOME and i should be offered some assistance when clicking on "Go->Templates" in this case. for future reference: i wrote up how to fix an accidentally deleted folder: http://nailor.devzero.de/blog/archives/26-fix-broken-gnomenautilus-template-folder.html -- Deleting ~/Templates and rebooting makes a change in ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/285998 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to xdg-user-dirs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
