[Bug 335307] Re: Please enable language support for Crimean Tatar (Crimean Turkish) locale (crh)
I am now aware that apparently language-support-crh package isn't related to gdm languages list, but the following is probably still related to this bug: The firefox .xpi import has succeeded, but apparently it's not been released w/ 04/10 full export from launchpad. The following package is still not being built: launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-support-crh So we have 2 outstanding issues here, the first one probably being a bit more important, assuming that people can learn to install the .xpi on their own: I. GDM languages list isn't listing crh among installed locales, even if it's installed. II. language-support-crh package isn't being built yet. P.S. I'm guessing, II. might be something easy that only requires a flip of a switch, whereas on I. we currently don't appear to have a roadmap yet. -- Please enable language support for Crimean Tatar (Crimean Turkish) locale (crh) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/335307 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 360824] [NEW] pointer-capture-applet and lock screen (requires restart to fix)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-applets I'm using the 64-bit version of the Jaunty Jackalope beta. This bug occurs when you have the pointer capture applet loaded, you click on it to capture the pointer, you try to lock the screen (it won't lock, although that's not the bug I'm reporting), and unlock the pointer, and then the bug begins. Here's what the bug does (it's pretty bad): • The keyboard no longer functions at all • The right-click of the mouse ceases to function • Clicking on URL-bars does nothing (it won't put the caret there) • If you have a shortcut to open a command-line, you can't give it focus even if you manage to open it • Menus will highlight, but they won't open up a list of items Anyway, the normal mouse click still functions. Buttons still function. Anyway, this bug makes it almost impossible to shut down your computer. There is a way, however, at least on my laptop. Just tap the on/off button (that still works) and some buttons to shut down, restart, and such appear—then click one. Anyway, the first time this bug showed itself forth I had no true idea of what had caused it since I was doing so many things at once. It was quite frightening, as I thought my hard drive might have been failing me, or the network was having problems (at the time, I was copying a ton of files from my desktop over the network through my laptop onto an external hard drive plugged into my laptop, since it was faster than using the USB 1.0 on my desktop). The second time it occurred I was doing much less and I wasn't so perplexed by the bug's features as to forget so much what I had actually been doing. Anyway, I locked the screen by pressing ctrl+alt+L. I had the pointer- capture-applet configured so that the right-click would release the pointer instead of the left-click (since I could accidentally release it on my laptop's pad too easily that way). I'll have to check if it makes this trouble with the default settings. The bug is reproducible, quite easily, and I'm very surprised I only came upon it twice in all the time I've been using this pointer capture (since I use it a lot, and I lock my screen a lot). I believe this bug occurs because the pointer probably has to be present when the screen is locked or some such. I know there's another bug about the pointer capture and keyboard shortcuts. I wonder if there are hidden bugs that occur along with other keyboard shortcuts, as well. Hopefully none of them are quite so bad as this. ** Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- pointer-capture-applet and lock screen (requires restart to fix) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/360824 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-applets in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

By changing the font sizes in system->preferences->appearance->fonts you can make the panels smaller, however there's a bug with the main menu that prevents scaling of the ubuntu logo icon in the main menu. You have been subscribed to a public bug: Ubuntu 9.04 Beta AMD64 Gnome In Gnome File Browser (Nautilus 2.26.1), you can right-click on an archive file (.zip, .tar.gz, .tgz) and select "Extract Here". This works as expected in a local folder. When trying to use "Extract Here" on an archive file over a Network Folder (using Connect To Server...), this only creates an empty folder. I can reproduce this using a .zip, .tgz, .tar.gz files using a network share either over SMB or SSH. I haven't tried other archive types or mount types. For me it happens without ever touching the resolution settings. I have a notebook with an external display attached (permanently!). The resolution is already set correctly at the GDM login. But after login, the applets are mixed up (panels are at their correct locations most of the time). This even occurs if I "lock" them to their positions. As already found out, if I use "expanded" panels, there are minor mixups such as two applets which switched locations. But I recently changed to "non-expanded" panels and I got a nice puzzle game after the last reboot... all applets where mixed wildly. -- GNOME Panel icons (on right side) move apparently randomly on session start in some situations https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/44082 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 360717] [NEW] Gnome Panel should allow resizing smaller than 23 pixels.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel Currently, GNOME panel cannot be resized to be smaller than 23 pixels in height. Many users desire a much smaller panel, both from an aesthetic and a usability point of view. With today's netbooks, the need to be economical with screen real estate becomes all the more critical. Given that Mark Shuttleworth states that netbooks are a central aim for upcoming releases (https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel- announce/2009-February/000536.html), it is in line with Ubuntu's interests to improve the GNOME panel for smaller screen sizes. Questions that must be addressed: * What is actually preventing GNOME panel from being set to a smaller size? Icons? Text? * If it's icons, what steps can Ubuntu make toward providing more scaleable icons for its themes? * If it's text, can there be integration between the panel resize dialog and necessary adjustments to font sizes for the GNOME desktop?
