[Bug 335307] Re: Please enable language support for Crimean Tatar (Crimean Turkish) locale (crh)

2009-04-13 Thread Reşat SABIQ
I am now aware that apparently language-support-crh package isn't
related to gdm languages list, but the following is probably still
related to this bug:

The firefox .xpi import has succeeded, but apparently it's not been released w/
04/10 full export from launchpad. The following package is still not being
built:
launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-support-crh

So we have 2 outstanding issues here, the first one probably being a bit more
important, assuming that people can learn to install the .xpi on their own:
I. GDM languages list isn't listing crh among installed locales, even if it's
installed.
II. language-support-crh package isn't being built yet.

P.S. I'm guessing, II. might be something easy that only requires a flip
of a switch, whereas on I. we currently don't appear to have a roadmap
yet.

Regardless, the error listed in the beginning comes up without fail.
I've heard complaints of this maybe being a problem with a missing udev

not a photo device..?

[Bug 360824] [NEW] pointer-capture-applet and lock screen (requires restart to fix)

2009-04-13 Thread vushta
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-applets

I'm using the 64-bit version of the Jaunty Jackalope beta.

This bug occurs when you have the pointer capture applet loaded, you
click on it to capture the pointer, you try to lock the screen (it won't
lock, although that's not the bug I'm reporting), and unlock the
pointer, and then the bug begins.

Here's what the bug does (it's pretty bad):
• The keyboard no longer functions at all
• The right-click of the mouse ceases to function
• Clicking on URL-bars does nothing (it won't put the caret there)
• If you have a shortcut to open a command-line, you can't give it focus even
if you manage to open it
• Menus will highlight, but they won't open up a list of items

Anyway, the normal mouse click still functions. Buttons still function.

Anyway, this bug makes it almost impossible to shut down your computer.
There is a way, however, at least on my laptop. Just tap the on/off
button (that still works) and some buttons to shut down, restart, and
such appear—then click one.

Anyway, the first time this bug showed itself forth I had no true idea
of what had caused it since I was doing so many things at once. It was
quite frightening, as I thought my hard drive might have been failing
me, or the network was having problems (at the time, I was copying a ton
of files from my desktop over the network through my laptop onto an
external hard drive plugged into my laptop, since it was faster than
using the USB 1.0 on my desktop). The second time it occurred I was
doing much less and I wasn't so perplexed by the bug's features as to
forget so much what I had actually been doing.

Anyway, I locked the screen by pressing ctrl+alt+L. I had the pointer-
capture-applet configured so that the right-click would release the
pointer instead of the left-click (since I could accidentally release it
on my laptop's pad too easily that way). I'll have to check if it makes
this trouble with the default settings. The bug is reproducible, quite
easily, and I'm very surprised I only came upon it twice in all the time
I've been using this pointer capture (since I use it a lot, and I lock
my screen a lot).

I believe this bug occurs because the pointer probably has to be present
when the screen is locked or some such.

I know there's another bug about the pointer capture and keyboard
shortcuts. I wonder if there are hidden bugs that occur along with other
keyboard shortcuts, as well. Hopefully none of them are quite so bad as
this.

[Bug 360814] [NEW] can't get decent volume for streamed asx.abacast.com audio

2009-04-13 Thread da haole boy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Trying to hear "http://asx.abacast.com/pacificradio-
kpoa-32.asx?ref=js&embedded=true&timeout=false&uofc=false" but with
volume control at max, can barely hear any sound. Hearing anything
tells me I've connected okay, but I need more audio volume for
comfortable listening. My desk-top speaker volume control has no
effect. Ubuntu 8.04's Sound Preferences are set to Auto-detect Sound
playback, Music & Movies, & Audio Conferencing Sound playback. Audio
Conferencing Sound capture is set to ALSA. Default Mixer Tracks device
= HDA Intel (Alsa mixer). I've notselected anything manually. These
are the default settings, as far as I know. I'm a definite novice, as
you can tell.

When first starting this connection I get a msg. about "no decoder
found" ... If my memory serves me okay, I believe I downloaded &
installed 3 such files.

Please tell me what I've not done or done wrong.

[Bug 360810] [NEW] gnome-terminal does not handle unicode HTTP links properly

2009-04-13 Thread Luke Faraone
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

http://➡.ws/ is a syntactically valid link, yet gnome-terminal does not
treat it as such.

Ideally it would behave as any other link, with underlining and a
special "open/copy" right-click menu.

Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia
Package: gnome-terminal 2.26.0-0ubuntu2

[Bug 359044] Re: invisible panel blocking application windows

2009-04-13 Thread futurefx
Update: invisible bar still blocks icons to be moved to invisible area,
when i delete panel then right away icons can be moved up corner because
panel is gone (this panel that has beginning with firefox).

basically when panel is created and moved it lefts invisible panel
behind to block icons.

[Bug 359044] Re: invisible panel blocking application windows

2009-04-13 Thread futurefx
when i create new panel and move it to random location it leaves
invisible place size of the default panel, look image BUT sometimes it
occurs sometimes not so i am grateful if you check it. Usually restart
helps to clean this .

If you cannot resolve this it is quite fine, after restart this problem
do not come anymore until you create new panel then restart helps.

you can even mark this bug completed or invalid, restart helps.

2009-04-13 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
It's 100% reproducible; just select the folder properties of the phantom
folder - you can see it in the screenshot I posted, it's the selected
folder with no name.

I haven't yet had time to investigate the presence of that phantom
folder, though. This is a brand-new Jaunty netinst install as of the
13th of April, with a brand-new user and just connected to my GMail IMAP
account.

I attached a screenshot to my initial report.

[Bug 360717] Re: Gnome Panel should allow resizing smaller than 23 pixels.

2009-04-13 Thread coCoKNIght
By changing the font sizes in system->preferences->appearance->fonts you
can make the panels smaller, however there's a bug with the main menu
that prevents scaling of the ubuntu logo icon in the main menu. The only
way to make a panel with a main menu smaller is by disabling the optoin
"show icons in menus" which you can find in the interface tab of
"appearance preferences". This is what I did, on my 1024x600 HP Mini I
don't really feel like I have another choice... would love to see those
icons again though...

In Gnome File Browser (Nautilus 2.26.1), you can right-click on an
archive file (.zip, .tar.gz, .tgz) and select "Extract Here". This
works as expected in a local folder.

When trying to use "Extract Here" on an archive file over a Network
Folder (using Connect To Server...), this only creates an empty folder.

I can reproduce this using a .zip, .tgz, .tar.gz files using a network
share either over SMB or SSH. I haven't tried other archive types or
mount types. I have tried with several different archive packages.

I have recently upgraded from 8.10 -> 9.04 Beta. It worked prior to
Beta.

[Bug 44082] Re: GNOME Panel icons (on right side) move apparently randomly on session start in some situations

2009-04-13 Thread Markus Birth
For me it happens without ever touching the resolution settings. I have
a notebook with an external display attached (permanently!). The
resolution is already set correctly at the GDM login. But after login,
the applets are mixed up (panels are at their correct locations most of
the time). This even occurs if I "lock" them to their positions.

As already found out, if I use "expanded" panels, there are minor mixups
such as two applets which switched locations. But I recently changed to
"non-expanded" panels and I got a nice puzzle game after the last
reboot... all applets where mixed wildly.

[Bug 360717] [NEW] Gnome Panel should allow resizing smaller than 23 pixels.

2009-04-13 Thread Chris Lasher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Currently, GNOME panel cannot be resized to be smaller than 23 pixels in
height. Many users desire a much smaller panel, both from an aesthetic
and a usability point of view. With today's netbooks, the need to be
economical with screen real estate becomes all the more critical. Given
that Mark Shuttleworth states that netbooks are a central aim for
upcoming releases (https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel-
announce/2009-February/000536.html), it is in line with Ubuntu's
interests to improve the GNOME panel for smaller screen sizes.

Questions that must be addressed:
* What is actually preventing GNOME panel from being set to a smaller size?
Icons? Text?
* If it's icons, what steps can Ubuntu make toward providing more scaleable
icons for its themes?
* If it's text, can there be integration between the panel resize dialog and
necessary adjustments to font sizes for the GNOME desktop?

See also Bug #223075.

[Bug 336660] Re: GConf Error: Failed to contact configuration server using root user

2009-04-13 Thread Arnaldo Mandel
I just upgraded to Jauunty alpha6 from intrepid. The bug is new.

gnome-terminal opens fine from my user account. However
gksudo gnome-terminal
sudo gnome-terminal

end with just the line:

Failed to contact the GConf daemon; exiting.
(there was not even a linefeed at the end)

Tried the same with gedit, it came up.
Tried with tomboy (works normally from my account), it didn't come up, and
produced a backtrace, attached.

This box is not an nfs client, so I suppose nfs locks are not to be
looked for. As for orbit, I could not find any docs on how to enable
networking for it.

dbus is on. From ps:

root 12572 1 0 17:38 pts/000:00:00 dbus-launch --autolaunch
e1190ffd58d35b3da111b4f9495a54b1 --binary-syntax --close-stderr

Is it still a non-bug?
