[Bug 234278] Re: baobab fails to show usage after hitting refresh
Did you follow the steps to reproduce that I added to the bug description? The key is you need to first sort the Usage column (ascending, arrow down), before refreshing / rescanning. It does not depend on what you are scanning, I reproduced it with "Scan Filesystem". Really, it shouldn't be possible to sort Usage since it's the same as Size. Perhaps the solution is these two columns should just be merged into one. ** Description changed: Binary package hint: baobab OS: Ubuntu Hardy (8.04) Package version: baobab 2.20.0.1-1ubuntu5 Mirror: Positive Internet After telling baobab (Disk Usage Analyser - DUA) to scan a remote partition, the first time the usage column is correctly shown. When I hit Refresh in the DUA, the usage column turns to -.-% for all entries except the folder I told it scan which reports 100%. See the attached screenshot (folder names blurred). When I hit refresh I expect the Usage column to reflect the new usage. Steps to reproduce: - 1) Scan a folder. - 2) Click "Usage" to sort. + 1) Scan a folder (eg. Scan Filesystem). + 2) Click "Usage" to sort (ascending, arrow down). 3) Click "Refresh". What should happen: 4) Usage column displays correct percentages. [Bug 328575] Re: Cannot start gnome-terminal bcause of gconf error
Thanks to everyone for confirming that this happens under normal circumstances. No further confirmation is required. Just subscribe to the bug without making a post, unless you have anything new to add. (Correct me if I'm overstepping here, Ubuntu maintainers.) Further posts on this thread should be about what to do about this, or ideas for how the relevant programs and libraries should behave so gnome-terminal can start when gnome-settings-daemon isn't already running. I've always found it kind of messy the way KDE programs start daemons that clutter your terminal with log messages even after the first KDE program (that started them) has exitted. If it wasn't for the messages on stdout or stderr, it wouldn't be so bad. Obviously, you don't want to hide the messages either, so I don't really see any good solution. I guess it's something you get used to as a user, though. I start most of my long-lived GUI stuff from one screen(1) window, so only one window will get clogged with messages if any of them feel like spewing. So it would probably work to start any required daemons when they're needed. I don't see any obvious solution, if there's no way around requiring a daemon. Hmm, possibly if there's no daemon, read settings from a file yourself? Using the same code (in a library) that the daemon uses to get the settings? This might have to be read-only to avoid danger in case the daemon does start while gnome-terminal is running... -- Cannot start gnome-terminal bcause of gconf error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/328575 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 366470] [NEW] Ekiga destroys Evolution address book
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ekiga Jaunty, Ekiga 3.2.0. I decided to import contacts from Thunderbird to Evolution because Ekiga can use supposedly use these addresses. So I spent some time getting things organized, no problem. Then I configure Ekiga and take a look at the addressbook. Didn't change anything using Ekiga, just took a look. Then I closed Ekiga, did some other stuff and then I needed an Evolution contacts. Nothing there. Ekiga fucked them up. addressbook.db and addressbook.db.summary are still there, but Evolution can't read them properly. Yes, it's reproducible. I stupidly went through the process of importing my contacts twice before realizing that Ekiga was the problem. Wow. [Bug 42109] Re: LiveCD session doesn't provide fully translated interfaces according to selected language on booting screen
Created the ISO, works flawlessly. Mind you: If only one language is chosen, that language shows up in the menu. You have the ability to pick more. I tried Dutch and Esperanto and those two remained under the F2 key. Started the Live CD in Dutch and all dialogues were Dutch, except: Add/Remove programs is in Dutch but the listed items were "Alles" (Dutch) but then again "Accessories","Education","Games","Graphics","Internet","Office","Other","Programming","Sound and Video","System Tools","Universal Access" all still remained in English. [Bug 353921] Re: notification-daemon does not respect gconf preferences
Same here (9.04 final, 32-bit). However, the bug is more serious than notifications just being displayed in the wrong corner: I have a multi-monitor setup, with two monitors of different size - primary is 1920x1200 and second is 1280x1024. They are aligned at the bottom edge, moving the top edge of the second screen down by 176 pixels. This area of 1280x176 pixels above the second screen is "dead", and not used by applications (since it is not visible anyway). The notification-system ignores this, and puts all notifications in this dead area (I can sometimes see the bottom part of a notification at the top of the screen) . Since there is no way of moving the notifications to another corner, I can't see them at all! So unless this will be fixed soon, I need to find a way to revert to the old system immediately. -- notification-daemon does not respect gconf preferences https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/353921 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to notification-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 202089] Re: Pulseaudio is blocking normal sound after resume
** Description changed: - SRU information follows: + jaunty SRU information follows: + + Note that this SRU involves two separate bugs, this one and bug 326532. + + Impact: Users who experience problems with PulseAudio often kill it + (using "pulseaudio -k" or "killall pulseaudio", the latter of which is + more reliable). Jaunty's current pm-utils sleep hook looks for the + session-invoked command line. Users who invoke pulseaudio manually, + after killing it, with "pulseaudio -D" (or other variants) do not have + this session-invoked command line, and thus, when they suspend to ram or + disk, the pm-utils sleep hook does not suspend their pulseaudio daemons. + + Note that the use case of killing the pulseaudio daemon and allowing it + to autospawn afterward is unaffected; jaunty's existing pm-utils sleep + hook correctly reaps all pulseaudio instances. This SRU only applies to + manually invoked "pulseaudio -D", "pulseaudio -vvv", etc. + + Resolution: Modify the pm-utils sleep hook to correctly reap all + pulseaudio instances regardless of pulseaudio invocation command line. + + SRU debdiff: + http://launchpadlibrarian.net/25941550/pulseaudio_0.9.14-0ubuntu20.1.debdiff + + TEST CASE: Boot into a jaunty install. In a Terminal, issue "killall + pulseaudio;pulseaudio -D". Suspend to ram, then resume. Note the + inaudible audio from PulseAudio. + + Regression potential: No regressions have been identified in production. + -- + old intrepid SRU information follows: Impact: A portion of users with a default or updated (intrepid-updates) Ubuntu 8.10 install experience inaudible audio from PulseAudio after resuming from suspend-to-ram. This symptom is due to the PulseAudio daemon not having received proper notification to suspend clients and release the sound device(s). Resolution: Configure users' pulseaudio daemons to suspend prior to suspending to ram and to resume after resuming. This sequence is accomplished via a pm-utils sleep hook. The corresponding fixed version (0.9.13-2ubuntu3) is available in jaunty. SRU debdiff: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20316781/pulseaudio_0.9.10-2ubuntu9.2.debdiff TEST CASE: Boot into a default or updated (intrepid-updates) Ubuntu 8.10 install. Suspend to ram, then resume.
